Chapter 829: Green Field Plane, Fusitemu

~7 min read 1,269 words

Green Field Plane.

In this lush, vibrant forest world, the autumn of the Main Plane had not affected this place in the slightest; it was as if the turn of spring and summer were permanently resident here, with vitality surging, making one feel refreshed in body and mind the moment they saw it, as if they were in a dream.

In fact, it was not just a feeling; after stepping out of the Plane Portal, everyone, including Xia Duo, was stunned by the crystal-clear sky of the Green Field Plane, the lush, dripping-green plants, and the light and shadow environment that looked just like a filter.

It truly was a stunning fantasy dream, beautiful to the point of being unrealistic.

The only fly in the ointment was the place they were currently in, which could be called a Temporary Camp; not only had a large swath of trees been cut down, but the ground had been scorched black and charred in patches.

This instantly brought this unrealistically beautiful fantasy dream crashing down into reality, and at the same time, the bursts of noisy shouting, yelling, roaring, and scolding in their ears added a touch of human presence to this world.

Archmage Greta stood in front of the group, not rushing to introduce anything, but quietly watching the surroundings, and the group also seemed to follow her gaze, taking in the scene around them.

Beyond the portal the group had crossed, there was only a row of simple stone buildings not far away, and a Mage Tower that had only been built to a height of about 10 meters.

This was the first time Xia Duo had seen a Mage Tower construction site, which was vastly different from the scene he had imagined; further away, apart from a small river flowing through the camp, there was a low, greenish-blue hill.

However, at this moment, the hill had already been stripped bare, revealing its grayish-white body, and groups of Orc slaves were using shackles and chains to mine relatively regular rocks from the hill.

Behind them, each team had a human overseer holding a whip, patrolling vigilantly, as if the whip would fall heavily the moment an opportunity arose.

Not far from the hill, near the Temporary Camp side, there was also a batch of simple buildings and an open-air workshop, where a large number of short Gnomes were processing the rocks mined by the Orcs.

Closer still, Orc slaves were dragging the processed rocks with bark ropes, sliding them along wooden tracks, emitting bursts of dull friction sounds.

The wooden tracks extended from the workshop by the hill to the mound that surrounded most of the Mage Tower at its foot, and spiraled up along the mound to the wall construction site more than ten meters high.

A team of Spellcasters in black robes stood there, casting spells from time to time, either assisting in the placement of stones, determining specific orientations, or setting up Magic Array hubs.

Seeing these scenes, it was hard for Xia Duo to say this was a Training Ground; calling it a construction site would not be an exaggeration, at least it had a significant discrepancy with the Training Ground he had imagined.

However, considering that it had only been a little over half a year since this plane was discovered simultaneously by Giles, Gustav, and Jilan, and eventually became the private plane of Gustav Tower, it was not hard to understand.

Just then, Greta suddenly turned around, looked at the group with their varied expressions, and announced loudly: "This is the Green Field Plane, and also the place where you are about to train and fight!"

After speaking, without waiting for a response from the group, she dropped a "Follow me" and walked directly toward the row of stone buildings not far away.

The group hurriedly followed, and Xia Duo and Niya exchanged glances and followed as well.

……

From the portal to the stone buildings was less than a hundred meters; upon getting closer, Xia Duo realized that if nothing went wrong, this was not a Training Ground either, but the temporary residence and temporary office for the Spellcasters here on the Green Field Plane.

As the group approached, a middle-aged man wearing what looked like an Elf sword suit walked out from one of the "cells" of the stone building.

He first spoke in a low voice with Greta for a few moments, then stood still, his gaze sweeping over the group like a knife or sword, and a bloodthirsty aura suddenly permeated the air.

Among the eight people who came for training, everyone except Xia Duo was startled, and some even triggered the Protective Spell stored in the Magic Net on the spot, but nothing happened, making the scene quite comical for a moment.

"Is this the combat proficiency of the High Mages of Giles Tower?" the middle-aged man said with dissatisfaction.

He criticized the members of the organization directly to the face of an Archmage, and even disparaged the organization itself in the process.

But Greta did not show much dissatisfaction, as if she had long known the other's temperament: "There are few combat opportunities on the Main Plane; who is like you at Gustav Tower, everyone is so bellicose!"

After speaking, she looked at the group, pointed to the middle-aged man, and introduced: "This is Archmage Fusitemu, a Battle Mage of Gustav Tower, who has personally killed two veteran Elf Mages and survived an ambush by a High Mage!"

This seemed to be Fusitemu's proudest achievement; being said out loud by Greta in front of everyone, Fusitemu's originally cold expression softened significantly almost instantly.

And Greta continued: "The first phase of training will be led by Archmage Fusitemu; if more recruits come in a few days, you won't have such good treatment, so you must seize the opportunity!"

Afterward, she said some words of encouragement, then turned and left, walking toward the portal.

……

After Greta left, Fusitemu did not waste words, glanced at the group, and immediately ordered: "Now follow me to collect equipment and supplies!"

The group knew what to do and hurriedly followed; in one of the cells of the stone building, a dedicated quartermaster with a large Dimensional Bag distributed equipment and supplies to everyone.

Besides a standard Battle Robe similar to the Elf sword suit worn by Fusitemu, there was a Spellbook, a box of Magic Scrolls, and two Fireball Wands.

After collecting the equipment, Fusitemu looked at the sky and said to the group: "Spellcasting on the Green Field Plane does not require adjustment, but there are slight differences from the Main Plane; I will give you half a day to adapt. Also, do not go out, lest you be ambushed by Elves."

Elves? Ambush?

Had the situation developed to this point? Or was there something he didn't know? Xia Duo thought silently, and walked toward a quiet place with Niya.

Regarding Fusitemu's statement that Spellcasting on the Green Field Plane did not require adjustment, although it was unlikely the other party would lie to them, it still had to be tested.

"Niya, Xia Duo, it will be faster if we test together."

Beilaila was almost following behind Xia Duo and Niya; regarding Beilaila's suggestion, neither Xia Duo nor Niya refused; perhaps Fusitemu was looking at their ability to cooperate.

After all, one of the items in the special training was Joint Casting; if one couldn't even find a partner, how could one talk about Joint Casting!

Better to think more; of course, even if not, Beilaila was more reliable than the others.
