Chapter 96: Orc Shaman

As the wolves came up in batches to throw their lives away, some wolves finally dragged corpses back into the passage, and then Xia Duo and the others saw the scene of the wolves cannibalizing their own kind.

Xia Duo felt a bad premonition in his heart; wolves that were full and wolves controlled by hunger were of completely different natures. "Front row, advance two steps, step over the wolf corpses."

The passage was not long, and with Xia Duo and his group of over forty people, plus a dozen villagers, they occupied almost the entire passage; if they advanced any further, they would reach the passage entrance.

Fortunately, the wolf pack had already lost more than half its numbers, and Xia Duo was not worried about them swarming over the shield-bearing team members in the front row.

As Xia Duo and the others advanced, the hungry wolves, stimulated by the scent of blood and hunger, rushed up again, but Xia Duo noticed that there were always a few wolves that never participated in the attack.

Yet, they were the ones who enjoyed priority access to the wolf corpses.

Was it the alpha wolf? Or was there something special about them?

Xia Duo became alert in his heart; in a world of Magic, anything was possible. He immediately entered a state of Spellcasting Focus, but there was no Magic Aura on those few wolves.

Clearly, they were not any kind of special magical beast.

But regardless, he still had to warn everyone, "Everyone, be careful of those few wolves at the back of the pack; they might be somewhat special, don't rush to get close to them."

Just as he was speaking, Xia Duo saw one of those few wolves covered in a faint layer of blue light, which appeared very eerie under these circumstances; had the forest wolves that originally didn't look like magical beasts suddenly become magical beasts?

"Careful! The gray-white striped one at the back, it might know Magic."

Xia Duo gave another warning, and then, for the sake of Insurance, he activated the 1st Circle 【Mage Armor】 Scroll he had just bought yesterday; a layer of invisible yet tangible Force Field appeared around his body.

This made Xia Duo feel much more at ease, but considering that a magical beast might possess Spellcasting abilities, Xia Duo took out a 2nd Circle 【Resist Energy】 Scroll.

However, this Scroll was not cheap, so he did not activate it immediately; he only unfolded it, keeping it in a state where it could be activated at any time.

Hearing Xia Duo's warning, the group accelerated the speed of clearing the wolf pack, turning the original passive killing into an active offensive.

As for Xia Duo, his gaze remained locked on that gray-white striped forest wolf, and he saw the faint blue Magic Aura on its body become increasingly bright, until it suddenly flashed.

Next, the scene that occurred left Xia Duo almost unable to believe it—

That gray-white striped forest wolf let out a long howl, its front legs lifted, and it actually stood upright; this alone was not enough to shock Xia Duo.

Immediately following that, this forest wolf actually twisted and turned into an Orc wearing gray-white striped animal hide clothing.

A wolf turning into an Orc, what an impactful sight!

At this moment, there was no need for Xia Duo to remind anyone; some people had already reached for their bows and arrows. Compared to the most ordinary forest wolves, this mysterious Orc that had suddenly transformed was the one that required the most attention.

Roar—

"%**…@￥!"

Just after this mysterious Orc transformed into human form, it let out an angry roar, followed by a string of obscure and strange Orc language. A flash of red light swept by, and the ten remaining forest wolves suddenly surged in size, actually reaching half a person's height!

Originally controlled by hunger and only wanting food, they had now become filled with bloodthirsty desires and lunged fiercely toward Xia Duo's side.

Crack—

A shield that had experienced many high-intensity battles finally had its internal wooden structure fail to hold up and fell apart. Fortunately, Xia Duo reacted in time, and a mass of Strong Acid instantly appeared in front of the Bloodthirsty Wolf that was preparing to take the opportunity to break through.

With a swish, it rushed into its mouth.

In an instant, the intense pain actually broke through the bloodthirsty desire; this Bloodthirsty Wolf rolled to the side clutching its head with its front paws. At this time, the shield of another shield-bearing team member on Xia Duo's side made an unusual sound.

Fortunately, it did not fall apart directly this time. Xia Duo hurriedly had the two of them swapped out, which prevented the Bloodthirsty Wolf from breaking into the crowd.

If it were just Bloodthirsty Wolves, it wouldn't matter; they could eventually be dealt with. But there was also a tiger-watching Orc Spellcaster on the side, which filled Xia Duo's heart with unease.

And what made him even more uneasy was that the Orc Spellcaster seemed to have set its sights on him.

"Aiwa, find an opportunity!"

Without waiting for Aiwa to answer, Xia Duo activated the 2nd Circle 【Resist Energy】 Scroll, and then used 【Ghost Sound】 to loudly provoke the Orc:

"Idiot! Coward!"

At the same time, he made a throat-slitting gesture with his hand. Sure enough, Orcs could not withstand provocation; although that Orc was a Spellcaster, seeing such an obvious provocation, it still couldn't help but roar in anger.

Subsequently, before Xia Duo could react, a bolt of lightning struck him.

"..."

After being struck, Xia Duo subconsciously touched his body, but did not find any damage. This allowed his heart, which had been held up, to relax slightly, and he provoked it again:

"Idiot! Hit me again!"

As he spoke, he threw a mass of acid at it, which was blocked by a Bloodthirsty Wolf ordered by the Orc, but this only made it even more furious.

However, Xia Duo felt it still wasn't enough; he conjured an illusion of light and shadow, which was the scene of the Orc being beheaded, combined with the team members on Xia Duo's side fighting hard to kill the Bloodthirsty Wolves.

Finally, the Orc Spellcaster let the last two Bloodthirsty Wolves that had transformed from alpha wolves join the battle. Xia Duo caught a glimpse of this scene, and his heart settled.

He continued to provoke the Orc.

After Xia Duo took two more lightning strikes, the Orc's angry roaring finally stopped. A dull, lusterless Dagger cut its throat, and at the same time, another Dagger pierced its heart from behind.

"Good!"

Aiwa's assassination lifted everyone's spirits. Having lost the Orc's command, the remaining few Bloodthirsty Wolves were quickly dealt with one by one by the group.

As soon as the battle ended, Xia Duo ran to the Orc's corpse at the first opportunity, preparing to collect the spoils of war. He had just used up two Magic Scrolls; if the spoils weren't valuable, that would be a total loss!

The first thing he picked up was the Wolf Tooth Necklace hanging on the Orc's neck. This Orc Spellcaster had three Magic Items on its body, and the one with the strongest Magic Aura was this necklace.

He didn't know if turning into a wolf was its own ability or achieved through a Magic Item. If it were a Magic Item, he might have made a huge profit this time!

Looking at the other two items, one was the Wolf Tooth Amulet he had seen before, similar to a Magic Scroll that boosted combat power, an Orc version; the other was a palm-sized Statue of a forest wolf.

Upon seeing this Statue, Xia Duo suddenly had a premonition that perhaps this Statue was the key item for the Orc's transformation into a wolf.

It was just that Xia Duo had never learned how to Identify Magic Items and could not judge the specific function of this necklace or Statue; he could only wait until he went back to find someone to take a look.

Just as Xia Duo finished collecting these three Magic Items, the dozen or so villagers had already come running out, looking at the pile of wolf corpses with longing faces!

Now there wasn't a hint of panic on their faces!
