Chapter 1206: Giant Kingdom

~6 min read 1,190 words

Ye Liuyun was marveling at having arrived in the Giant Kingdom when his Divine Sense detected a Black Shadow lunging at him.

At first glance, it looked like a giant bird.

"Damn! Not a giant bird, it's a nightingale!" Ye Liuyun quickly activated the Shadow Concealment Technique and hid beneath a large tree.

Soon after the nightingale lunged, it suddenly lost its target, circled once, found nothing, and then flew away.

Still shaken, Ye Liuyun recorded this location's coordinates in the Black Tower.

In fact, he isn't overly worried about dangers in the Secret Realm mainly because he possesses the Black Tower.

This Black Tower can ignore the Secret Realm's restrictions and teleport directly to any recorded coordinates.

The only caveat is that if the linked Secret Realm is too far, it requires more activation energy.

Ye Liuyun immediately tested how many Spirit Stones were needed to teleport from here back to his residence at the academy.

"Good heavens, that much energy!" The test result left him astonished.

Ye Liuyun kept feeding energy, first charging two Mineral Veins, then adding the Primordial Power of two Secret Realms, after which the Black Tower indicated it could teleport back.

"It seems this isn't the same world; otherwise it wouldn't consume so much energy! First note the location—if resources are plentiful, we can come back later!"

After recording the coordinates here, Ye Liuyun continued using the Shadow Concealment Technique, cautiously probing forward.

But before he had gone far, he spotted a black snake descending from a large tree, slithering close to the ground toward him.

Compared to the tree, this snake would normally be just a small one, but in Ye Liuyun's eyes it already looked like a giant python.

"Oh no, it's spotted me!"

Snakes don't rely on eyesight to detect prey. Ye Liuyun immediately realized the black snake had detected him.

He instantly drew the Vajra Divine Bow and shot an arrow at the black snake.

The Vajra Divine Bow struck the snake's head squarely, blasting a large hole in it.

Ye Liuyun, fearing one arrow might not kill it, fired three more arrows in quick succession, all aimed at the snake's head.

But he found that the first arrow had already been sufficient.

Although the black snake was huge, it seemed to have no cultivation rank, making it appear easy to deal with.

The subsequent three arrows also hit, nearly obliterating the snake's head.

Worried about attracting other creatures, Ye Liuyun immediately stowed the black snake's corpse in his Storage Ring and then left at once.

Not long after he departed, his Divine Sense detected a leopard following him, sniffing, then giving chase in the direction he had gone.

"The beasts here seem untrained!" Ye Liuyun glanced at the leopard's rank and then had a clear idea.

But he didn't want to engage the beasts so early, lest he draw even stronger ones.

Although the leopard lacked training, its large size and great speed meant it would soon catch up to him.

Ye Liuyun had a quick thought, hid behind a large tree, and monitored the leopard with his Divine Sense.

After the leopard approached and sniffed, it went around the tree where Ye Liuyun was hiding.

Using his Divine Sense to detect, Ye Liuyun played hide‑and‑seek with the leopard, circling the tree to avoid being seen.

The leopard turned left and right, spun several rounds until dizzy, still failing to catch Ye Liuyun; moreover, Ye Liuyun remained invisible, so the leopard couldn't detect him at all.

Eventually it lost interest and trudged away resentfully.

During that time Ye Liuyun also tried to subdue the leopard with the power of his Soul, but found its intelligence very low; such a level of intellect, even on the Central Continent, would rank only as the lowest‑tier beast.

So after thinking it over, he gave up—capturing it would be useless and would merely make him a target for stronger predators.

In this Mi Lin, Ye Liuyun's Divine Sense could not reach the edge, nor could he gauge its size; he could only keep walking straight in one direction.

On the ensuing journey, Ye Liuyun increased his pace.

It wasn't for any other reason; simply because the beasts here, even a mere mouse, dare to attack it.

Though their cultivation ranks are low, their large size gives them considerable strength.

Ye Liuyun estimated that facing a large beast, even without a rank, he might not be able to withstand its assault.

Yet, what one fears tends to come.

Ye Liuyun kept running and realized he had run into a wolf pack's encirclement.

"Impossible! With my size, wolves wouldn't set an ambush just for me!"

He immediately stopped and leapt onto a large tree.

Only then did he notice that beneath several large trees, the tree holes held several nests of rabbits.

Because his Divine Sense scans a wide area, the beasts' sizes aren't especially obvious.

His mind hadn't yet adjusted, so he overlooked the rabbits in those holes.

Not long after, the rabbits emerged en masse to forage. The wolves lay in wait patiently, and when the rabbits had wandered far enough from the holes, one wolf lunged out to block the entrance.

The rabbits panicked and scattered; the wolves immediately pounced and tore into them.

Some rabbits fled into other holes and escaped, but still seven or eight were killed on the spot.

Ye Liuyun gazed at the rabbits, whose size surpassed that of tigers on the Central Continent, and felt a surge of emotion.

"Rabbits this big could feed several people!"

The wolves were feasting heartily while Ye Liuyun pondered whether to leave right then.

Suddenly his Divine Sense detected a giant python moving from the treetops, spanning several large trees, swimming toward it.

This was a true giant python—its massive body could swallow the wolves below whole.

Ye Liuyun hesitated not, jumped down from the tree and ran; leaping among the trees, he had no confidence he could outrun the python.

The wolves continued enjoying the rabbit meat; two of them, more alert, heard the sound, glanced at Ye Liuyun, let out a warning growl in their throats, then turned back to eat, paying no heed to the diminutive Ye Liuyun.

With big rabbits to eat, the wolf pack wouldn't bother with food the size of a mouse.

But the python had no intention of letting Ye Liuyun go.

Although its body is huge, it is very fond of eating such small creatures.

Seeing Ye Liuyun flee, it also immediately chased after him.

Although Ye Liuyun did not attract the wolves' attention, the giant python disturbed their lunch.

Upon seeing the giant python, the wolf pack immediately surrounded it, blocking it for Ye Liuyun.

They spread out; some wolves confronted the python head-on, while some wolves, while dodging the whip of its long tail, looked for an opportunity to bite its tail and hindquarters, leaving it unable to attend to both ends.

Upon seeing the rabbit carcass on the ground, the python also forgot about chasing Ye Liuyun, instead wanting to swallow the rabbit, and thus fought with that wolf pack.
