Chapter 1340: Real Bandits
Everyone rode on horses, making the journey much easier than before.
Moreover, even if other tribes discovered that the people sent to intercept them had lost contact, they couldn't catch up for a while.
After traveling for several days, they were all safe and sound, and everyone gradually relaxed their guard.
During breaks, the tribespeople often went hunting nearby and came back to roast the meat.
However, their meat had no seasoning, they didn't pay attention to the heat, and the taste was far worse than Ye Liuyun's roasted meat.
Ye Liuyun didn't join them for the fun. Even while riding on horseback each day, he was cultivating Heaven and Earth Power, letting his soul wander in the Void.
Ye Liuyun had already discovered that ahead there was a group of genuine bandits, over two hundred strong, whose cultivation levels were generally a bit higher than theirs.
The bandits' scouts had already spotted them and were making preparations. The bandits along the route had set out, ready to cut off their retreat once they entered the ambush zone.
"Here, have something to eat!" A Xing took a piece of roasted meat and came over to hand it to Ye Liuyun.
"Oh!" Ye Liuyun replied absentmindedly, took it and began eating mechanically.
"How come you've seemed so absent-minded lately?" A Xing sat beside him and asked with concern.
Helpless, Ye Liuyun had to withdraw his soul and started chatting with her.
"I was thinking about cultivation," Ye Liuyun explained.
"Cultivation just needs resources!" A Xing said, not understanding.
"I'm thinking about soul cultivation," Ye Liuyun said with a smile.
"Oh, then what have you come up with?" A Xing asked eagerly.
Ye Liuyun laughed again: "Nothing! If it were that easy for me to figure out, why would we need cultivation methods?"
"Exactly!" A Xing nodded and advised him: "Since you can't think of it, don't waste your energy!"
"Fine, I won't think about it!" Ye Liuyun took a bite of the roasted meat, almost spitting it out.
The meat was a bit burnt and still had no flavor.
He held up the roasted meat and looked at A Xing.
"Just give it to me! I don't mind!" A Xing also knew he didn't like it, so she took it eagerly and stuffed it into her mouth.
"Why didn't you let them add seasoning?" Ye Liuyun asked.
"The good things you gave me, I can't bear to take them out!" A Xing's face turned slightly red.
"I still have plenty!" Ye Liuyun said, reaching for more seasoning.
Seeing him about to take the seasoning, A Xing immediately stopped him: "Hey, don't rush! Wait until you can buy some!"
Ye Liuyun smiled helplessly, but still took out a little and sprinkled it on the roasted meat in A Xing's hand.
"This should make it taste a bit better!"
"Thank you!" A Xing's face flushed crimson, feeling that Ye Liuyun was caring for her, and she shyly revealed a bashful expression.
Their actions were seen by everyone, who then began to tease them.
"A Xing has grown up; it's time for her to marry!"
"Yes! She'd be a perfect match for Ayun!"
"Enough!" A Xing put her hands on her hips and stood up, her face reddening further, making everyone laugh even harder.
Ye Liuyun just smiled.
In his heart he thought: "Looks like I really ought to leave early!"
After everyone had eaten and drunk their fill and finished their revelry, A Mu Chief urged them to move on. So they mounted their horses and sped off again.
A Xing had never ridden a horse before; she found it novel and often raced against others.
But this time Ye Liuyun called her to a stop.
"A Xing, come to my side; don't keep running ahead!"
He was doing this out of safety concerns.
But A Xing misunderstood. "Oh!" she replied obediently, staying close beside Ye Liuyun, secretly giggling, thinking he was jealous of her playing with others.
The other tribespeople laughed even more at the pair, leaving Ye Liuyun with a wry smile he couldn't help.
After they had gone some distance, Ye Tiandao also spotted that band of bandits.
"Master..." she started to say, but felt it inappropriate and swallowed the rest.
"Mm, go ahead!" Ye Liuyun also understood what she wanted to say.
So he also sent a mental transmission to Ye Tiandao, telling her to go and take out the bandits preparing to intercept them.
"Yes!" Ye Tiandao replied, reined in her horse, and let them go first.
"What is she going to do?" A Xing asked.
"Just going to relieve herself!" Ye Liuyun said offhandedly.
"You didn't even hear her say it and you already know?" A Xing felt a twinge of jealousy.
"... We're just familiar with each other!" Ye Liuyun had to explain like that.
A Xing was still thinking: "When we go back, I'll find a separate place for Adao to live, so they won't be roommates anymore!"
"Stop!"
Ye Liuyun suddenly spoke, startling A Xing and everyone else.
The riders ahead also immediately pulled on the reins, stopped, and looked at Ye Liuyun in puzzlement.
"There's danger ahead!" Ye Liuyun warned.
Everyone looked forward, but saw nothing unusual.
Ahead was a valley; they had happened to stop at the valley's entrance.
"What danger?" A Mu Chief asked Ye Liuyun.
"Bandits!" Ye Liuyun told A Mu.
"Are they sent by the various tribes?" A Mu asked.
Ye Liuyun shook his head: "This time they are real bandits!"
As soon as Ye Liuyun's words fell, a burst of "haha" laughter came from within the valley.
Afterwards, those bandits also stood up.
Upon seeing them, everyone was also greatly alarmed.
These bandits filled the valley; if they really went in, they would be surrounded.
"You little brat are quite alert, but so what!"
A bandit leader, carrying a large halberd, swaggered out.
The bandits also lined up in a row, standing before them with a fierce aura; the horses were so intimidated by that aura that they kept stepping back.
"How did you figure that out?" A Xing continued to curiously ask Ye Liuyun.
Ye Liuyun ignored her, directly urging his horse to go to the front, blocking the others.
At that moment, everyone heard the sound of hooves again.
Ye Tiandao rode his horse and chased up.
A Xing waved at her from afar, telling her not to come over, but she acted as if she hadn't seen it and directly galloped to Ye Liuyun's side.
"All settled!" She sent a Transmission Voice to Ye Liuyun: "What should we do with these?"
"Or leave it to the clone!"
Ye Liuyun felt that now was not the time to reveal himself, preparing to release another clone.
The bandit leader then said: "Leave the supplies and the women; the others can go! Otherwise, if you try to leave later, you won't be able to!"
He unintentionally glanced back at Ye Liuyun and them.
Ye Liuyun knew he was stalling for time, waiting for the ambush bandit squad to appear.
A Mu, the chieftain, and the tribespeople immediately made battle preparations.
Ye Liuyun, however, gave a slight smile and said: "You're waiting for someone? I'm afraid you won't get to wait!"
"Huh?" The bandit leader also noticed something was off.
By rights, those people should have appeared by now.
