Chapter 1656: Auction of the Human Race

Ye Liuyun and his companions rode Demon Wolves for almost twenty days before arriving at the Demon Race's Sacred City.

This Sacred City of the Demon Race is indeed not small; just by area it is larger than the imperial capital of Zhongyang Dalu.

Yet the scenes inside the city differ far from the imperial capital of Zhongyang Dalu.

Inside the city there are many dilapidated, low houses. Only at the city's center are there castle‑like noble residences.

Each noble residence's doorway and the surrounding castle are guarded by soldiers.

The order inside the city is also chaotic! Ye Liuyun casually swept with his Divine Sense and discovered many fights, robberies, and other incidents unfolding.

Many of the city's streets are filthy as well. Only the main thoroughfares are unusually clean and tidy.

"Why is it so chaotic here!" Ye Liuyun couldn't help exclaiming.

"Here everything is dictated by status and strength; there aren't many rules otherwise!" Mu Changxing explained.

"What is the status of the Human Race inside the city?" Ye Liuyun asked.

Mu Changxing replied, "They are still Nobility, outwardly equal to the Demon Race, but in practice their voice is a bit weaker. After all, this is still Demon Race territory."

"Will the Demon Race take action against the Human Race?" Ye Liuyun continued.

"At least openly they won't!" Mu Changxing explained, "But if you enter the commoner districts, it becomes dangerous. Not only the Human Race, but Demon Race nobles as well. So nobles generally do not wander the city aimlessly!"

"Hmm!" Ye Liuyun nodded, and together with Mu Changxing rode their Demon Wolves straight into the city.

Their Demon Wolf mounts bore Human Race markings, and Mu Changxing's Leader attire clearly marked them as Nobility. Thus ordinary commoners hurried away from them.

As Nobility, Ye Liuyun's party also enjoyed the privilege of riding Demon Beasts.

Mu Changxing led them to a magnificent building and said to Ye Liuyun, "Master, you may stay here for now; I'll return home to make contact."

"Is this an inn?" Ye Liuyun hadn't expected the inn to be built like a palace.

"Yes, a inn that exclusively serves Nobility! All food, drink, and amenities are fully provided, and safety is guaranteed!" Mu Changxing explained.

"Very well!" Ye Liuyun also dismounted the Demon Wolf and followed Mu Changxing inside.

Mu Changxing immediately reserved a Side Courtyard for Ye Liuyun and Lei Ming, then rushed back to his family to proceed with the planned arrangements.

Ye Liuyun and Lei Ming waited here for news. The serving maidens were all Demon Race Lower Class.

Ye Liuyun found these dark‑skinned, robust Demon Race maidens unappealing and wanted to dismiss them.

At that moment, a maid stepped forward and introduced the services: "Honored guests, today we have a special auction! It is said the auction items even include beautiful women of the Human Race, would you like to take a look?"

"Human Race beautiful women, will they be brought here for auction?" Ye Liuyun asked, puzzled.

Ye Liuyun had previously performed Soul Search and knew this world held slave auctions, but had never heard of Human Race slaves being auctioned.

"Probably a Human Race individual wandered about and was captured by some Demon Race. Our slave auctions accept any status or rank. Even nobles, once delivered here, are auctioned the same way."

"Whether the buyer chooses to restore the slave's freedom is up to them," the maid explained to Ye Liuyun.

"It seems relations between the Human Race and Demon Race are indeed worsening! If they were nobles from the Human Sacred City, it might be even easier to approach Yin Fire!" Ye Liuyun thought to himself.

Ye Liuyun, now interested, said, "Alright, you lead the way, we'll go see the excitement!"

The maid obediently led Ye Liuyun and Lei Ming to the auction hall, even arranging a decent spot for them and standing behind them to attend.

The auction had not yet begun; to liven the atmosphere, several Demon Race maidens were dancing inside.

Ye Liuyun could not watch, so he closed his eyes to cultivate. In recent days he had absorbed a lot of Demon Qi and was continuously refining Buddha Demon Power.

Lei Ming, however, watched with relish, occasionally applauding and cheering for them.

Then the venue staged a beast‑fighting display.

The Demon Race's beast fights use young Demon Beasts; before they reach any realm, they are placed together to tear at each other for entertainment.

Ye Liuyun glanced twice, found it meaningless, and returned to cultivation.

Lei Ming was quite interested, placed bets, and actually earned a little.

She is now in the Tianzun Realm; observing two realm‑less ferocious beasts, her eyesight is naturally far sharper than that of ordinary people.

Afterwards, once the hall was full, the auction finally commenced.

This auction sold slaves. Various Demon Race individuals were chained with iron or confined in cages for the attending Nobility to select.

Ye Liuyun scanned the area and indeed saw a few Human Race Demon Cultivators present, though they seemed uninterested in these Demon Race slaves.

Finally, a Human Race woman was lifted out of an iron cage.

Ye Liuyun's Divine Sense sharply noted that as soon as the woman was lifted, a middle‑aged man among the Human Race Martial Cultivators used Transmission Voice to communicate with her.

When the woman emerged, she also looked around. Seeing that middle‑aged man, she seemed excited, but she quickly suppressed her excitement and looked elsewhere.

Though the woman's gaze changed in an instant, that detail did not escape Ye Liuyun's Golden Pupil.

"It seems they know each other; these Demon Cultivators came specifically to rescue her!" Ye Liuyun guessed. "That middle‑aged man must have told her to keep quiet, fearing others would learn they were rescuing her, thus inflating the price!"

At this moment, the auction's host introduced the woman's background: "This Human Race woman is the highlight item of today's auction. She comes from a great family of the Human Sacred City, the Song Family… yes, one of the guardians of the White Moon Sacred Fire."

"She was captured during a hunting expedition…"

The remaining details, Ye Liuyun no longer cared about. Hearing the guardian family of the White Moon Sacred Fire, he immediately decided to bid for the woman.

He was now contacting Lei Ming, asking how many Magic Crystals Lei Ming still had.

Lei Ming quickly checked and replied to Ye Liuyun, "Around five hundred million, enough?"

She also saw that Ye Liuyun intended to purchase the woman to prepare for seizing Yin Fire.

"It should be comparable; just now a Demon Race noble woman sold for fifty million Magic Crystals. Magic Crystals seem quite valuable here," Ye Liuyun speculated.
