Chapter 1885: Dealing with the Giant Python

~7 min read 1,352 words

Zhao Ming Cheng went to cut the vines, trembling with fear.

Ye Liuyun, however, lightly stepped directly above the python's cave and aimed his long spear at the entrance.

Only then did Zhao Ming Cheng faintly see the cave entrance beneath Ye Liuyun's feet.

"He really does have this ability!"

Zhao Ming Cheng's heart was filled with excitement.

In that case, she thought she could also tag along and benefit.

Although she had become Ye Liuyun's servant, it was only temporary, and Ye Liuyun had no lustful thoughts, making cooperation with him far safer than with others.

"Being a servant is fine! Just a bit more hardship!"

Zhao Ming Cheng instead felt relieved.

She cut the vines with her short sword, and the rustling sound indeed startled the giant python.

The giant python, inside the cave, flicked its tongue, sensed the food scent outside, and immediately crawled out.

As soon as it poked its head out, Ye Liuyun thrust his spear through its brain, pinning it to the ground.

Ye Liuyun also braced his feet against the cliff, putting his full weight on the spear.

Though the giant python possessed immense strength, its body was confined within the narrow cave.

With its head pinned to the ground, it could not exert any force.

It could only writhe, striking the cave for leverage, causing the cave to boom.

Hearing the sound, Zhao Ming Cheng rushed over, saw the giant python pinned to the ground with its jaws unable to open, grabbed the broken sword, and began cutting its head.

Ye Liuyun was also wary of Zhao Ming Cheng sneaking up on him.

Once Zhao Ming Cheng had cut off the python's head, Ye Liuyun immediately speared it and flung the head into the thicket of vines, discarding it.

He needed to keep his spear ready to guard against Zhao Ming Cheng.

Seeing this, Zhao Ming Cheng laughed and asked Ye Liuyun, "Why are you so nervous?"

"Are you afraid I'll ambush you?"

"Go do your work; I'll drag this python's body out."

Ye Liuyun, however, did not reply to her.

No matter what she said, one must never lack vigilance against others; Ye Liuyun would always stay on guard against her.

"All right!"

Zhao Ming Cheng also knew that staying too close to Ye Liuyun would arouse his vigilance, so she kept her distance and continued cutting vines.

"Stay away from the python's head; it's not dead yet!"

Ye Liuyun gave a warning, then began pulling the python's spine outward.

After dragging out a segment, he caught his breath, then dragged another.

The python's body was huge; Ye Liuyun, lacking True Essence, found it strenuous to pull it out.

Moreover, Ye Liuyun dared not drag it all out at once, lest the python not be fully dead and coil its body around him.

After pulling out half, Ye Liuyun stopped.

Zhao Ming Cheng also cut a considerable amount of vines.

However, the vines were thick and hard, and she did not know how to weave them into a shield.

"This stuff doesn't look light either!"

Zhao Ming Cheng said.

Ye Liuyun looked at the vines she had cut; they were already plenty.

"Use your knife to cut the vines into thumb-width strips, then give me your short sword."

Ye Liuyun said directly.

"Are you afraid I'll assassinate you?"

Zhao Ming Cheng asked, puzzled.

Ye Liuyun explained, "What! I need to use that broken sword to cut the python's meat and also make a bow and a sword!"

"Oh!"

Zhao Ming Cheng agreed and began cutting the strips.

Ye Liuyun watched her work from afar; when it was nearly enough, he told Zhao Ming Cheng, "Enough, no need to cut more."

"Give me the broken sword; go find a water source, soak those vines in water, let them soak a while longer until they're completely softened, then bring them back!"

"Is this enough?

"If you'd said so earlier, I wouldn't have cut so many vines!"

Zhao Ming Cheng complained.

"Just let you train your body!"

Ye Liuyun laughed.

"Hmph, I think you're just afraid I'll ambush you!"

Zhao Ming Cheng said, tossing her short sword to Ye Liuyun.

Then she shouldered the bundle of vine strips and went to find a small stream to soak them in.

Ye Liuyun, seeing her leave, felt much more at ease.

He immediately used the broken sword to cut the python's body into sections.

Each section was as long as an arrow.

Then he extracted the python's sinews, found a tree trunk, shaped it into a bow, and bound the sinews onto it.

After finishing all that, Ye Liuyun was exhausted to the point of being fed up.

However, he didn't dare to rest, as danger could strike at any time in the wilderness.

Fortunately, the entrance of the python snake cave is well concealed; he can see outside through the vines using his Golden Pupil.

He then carved more than ten wooden arrows, only then did he slightly relax.

Next, he began test-shooting the bow and arrow.

Although his shots weren't far or accurate, they were sufficient to intimidate foes.

Next, he extracted a lot of python sinew, cut a piece of python skin, made a quiver, fully equipped the bow and arrow, and only then did he completely relax.

Next, he sat on the ground and began using his broken sword to shave a pile of vine scraps; then he also moved the unwanted vines that Zhao Ming Cheng had cut into the python snake cave, and picked up many branches.

After working all day, the sky gradually began to darken.

Ye Liuyun's Golden Pupil also noticed Zhao Ming Cheng bending over, struggling back while carrying a large bundle of vines.

"Vines soaked in water are too heavy!"

Zhao Ming Cheng also complained to Ye Liuyun.

Immediately, she noticed the bow and arrow on Ye Liuyun's back.

"Oh, you've already finished it?"

"It looks not bad!"

Zhao Ming Cheng praised.

Ye Liuyun ignored her, instead telling her: "We'll stay in this python snake's Cave tonight; we can roast meat at night! Move all these things inside."

"Ah?"

"You really treat me as a servant! Stay here tonight?"

"You're not going to snatch the blade?"

Zhao Ming Cheng asked.

"First make armor from python skin, then go snatch the blade! Enter the Cave, it's dark!"

Ye Liuyun called out, led the way into the Cave, and had Zhao Ming Cheng move the big bundle of python meat into the cave.

Zhao Ming Cheng resignedly complained while moving; afterwards Ye Liuyun pulled some vines and large stones to simply cover the cave entrance.

"The smell in this cave is too foul!"

Zhao Ming Cheng covered her nose and said to Ye Liuyun.

The smell inside the cave is indeed rather fishy.

Ye Liuyun also said: "Make do; it's better than being chased by fierce beasts outside!"

Speaking, he began drilling wood for fire, igniting the vine scraps.

"I wouldn't have thought it, but you've got some skills!"

Zhao Ming Cheng praised.

"How did you usually make fire before?"

Ye Liuyun also asked in return.

"I've never made a fire before! I was afraid of attracting others."

"In this Secret Realm, hardly anyone dares to light a fire!"

Zhao Ming Cheng sighed.

"What did you used to eat before?"

Ye Liuyun was somewhat surprised.

Zhao Ming Cheng resignedly said: "Just eat it raw; having something to eat is already good! At first I couldn't stomach it, but later I was so hungry I didn't care."

Ye Liuyun didn't speak, thinking that Lei Ming and Long Nv could eat raw food fine, and estimating Ye Tiandao could also adapt.

He actually wasn't worried about their food problem.

Ye Liuyun skewered the snake meat over the fire and began roasting it.

However, now there are no seasonings, so he can only make do and eat his fill.

"Ah! It's been ages since I've had properly cooked meat! It's really delicious!"

Zhao Ming Cheng hiccuped from eating, after being full she leaned against the rock wall, not wanting to move at all.
