Chapter 1936: The Meaning of Death

After cleaning up the battlefield, Ye Liuyun and his men had quite a haul.

Many of them were resources from the local merchants' guild.

But the entire Duanmo Pass was completely empty.

All the corpses had been collected.

The Demon Race soldiers' bodies, however, were hung on weapons and spread across the city below.

At that moment, the three Demon Race raiding forces, upon receiving news that Duanmo Pass had fallen, immediately turned back.

"Charge straight for the Demon capital! Kill any Demon we encounter, leave none. All Demon soldiers are to be dealt with the same way! We will make the Demon Race fully understand the meaning of the word 'death' in our Death Legion!"

Ye Liuyun transmitted the command to the whole army, then led his forces directly to the Demon capital.

When the Demon army returned, they were shocked by the brutal scene before them.

Below Duanmo Pass, the Demon soldiers' corpses were hung high, impaled on weapons or pillars.

The True Essence pills, Storage Rings, and armor were gone.

Without True Essence to sustain them, the bodies, after several days of scorching sun, had already begun to rot.

They attracted swarms of crows, Bald Vultures and other carrion animals and beasts, which circled and gnawed the corpses; some bodies were reduced to bare skeletons.

A Death Legion banner hung high on the city wall!

It bore a snarling skull and two clashing battle blades.

"Damn it! Hurry and catch up with them!"

The Demon Race Leader also immediately ordered a pursuit.

However, they were six days behind Ye Liuyun.

Those six days were enough for Ye Liuyun to do many things.

He led the Death Legion to sweep through cities one by one; each city had just replaced its Demon garrison when Ye Liuyun broke through again, then filled the city outskirts with soldiers' corpses, plundered all Demon resources, leaving not a single Demon inside.

Moreover, they explained to the Human Race civilians in the city that it was all caused by the Demon Race.

They said they were merely retaliating!

Ye Liuyun's Death Legion advanced at a very rapid pace.

In roughly two to three hours, they could wipe out all Demons in a city, then board a Warship and rush to the next city.

The Demon army chased furiously for several days, but wherever they arrived they only saw the defending troops' corpses scattered everywhere.

"Dispatch the fastest light Warship and send a detachment at full speed to catch up."

The Demon Race Leader grew urgent, deciding to split forces to pursue and slow Ye Liuyun's advance.

If this continued, by the time they caught Ye Liuyun, he would have already razed more than ten cities.

At that moment, the Demon Race Clan Chief summoned Ye Liuyun: "What do you mean?

We have a contract!"

Ye Liuyun retorted, "A contract?

Didn't it become void before you reached Duanmo Pass?

Otherwise, how could you dare cross Duanmo Pass to burn and loot?"

The Demon Race Clan Chief knew he was in the wrong, yet he didn't admit it and instead threatened Ye Liuyun.

"Make your army surrender quickly, or I'll kill you outright!"

The Witch heard this and immediately intervened: "Father,

We were the ones at fault first, you must not do something foolish!"

Ye Liuyun laughed, "It's not that I underestimate you, but can you even kill me?

I'm not killing you just to save face for your daughter!"

"How daring!"

The Demon Race Clan Chief let out a roar, and a guard immediately charged at Ye Liuyun.

Suddenly, the ground split, and the Magic Vine opened a gaping maw, swallowing the charging Demon guards.

A Demon elite charged at Ye Liuyun, only to be struck by the Sealing Demon Tablet, which slammed down and fell right before him.

Then the Sealing Demon Tablet and the Magic Vine launched a frenzied assault, scrambling for resources.

Fortunately, the Demon guards were fearless; each time the Sealing Demon Tablet was hurled at the Demon Race Clan Chief, a guard would step forward to shield him and push it away.

Ye Liuyun continuously unleashed Spiritual Soul Attacks, exterminating those Demon guards.

"I didn't expect this kid's treasure to be so powerful!"

The Demon Race Clan Chief thought to himself, and upon seeing the Witch unharmed, immediately took cover behind her,

"Quick, get his assistant!"

The Demon Race Clan Chief ordered the Witch.

"Young Master Ye, please send an assistant; after all, he is my father!"

The Witch could not bear to watch her father be crushed to death.

Ye Liuyun also halted the Sealing Demon Tablet and the Magic Vine.

"Tuomu Qianglei, I warn you, do not play with fire and self‑immolate, ruining the Demon Race's future!"

Ye Liuyun said this, then ignored them, gathered up the Sealing Demon Tablet and the Magic Vine, and returned to his residence to continue cultivating.

As soon as he left, Tuomu Qianglei immediately sent men to fetch a Seventh Layer elite of the Demon Race, preparing to confront Ye Liuyun together.

Having personally witnessed the power of Ye Liuyun's treasures, they were determined to seize them.

He even feared the Witch would report to Ye Liuyun, so he had her bound.

But Ye Liuyun's clone was not foolish; as soon as he returned to the Cultivation Room, Ye Liuyun used the Black Tower to teleport there and whisk him away.

When the Demon elite arrived, not a single figure could be found.

Ye Liuyun returned to the army with his clone, then led troops to continue besieging the city.

The clone had been idle for a long time; finally it could fight and train, so he released the Magic Vine and the Sealing Demon Tablet together to handle the demons inside the city, and directly broke through the city, charging in to kill.

The Vanguard Squad was responsible for cleaning up the demon soldiers, while He Lian Xiu directed soldiers to dig out demon cores, take the storage rings, string the demon soldiers on weapons, and nail them outside the city.

Their advance speed became even faster.

Lei Ming also consequently obtained a large quantity of demon cores.

Now she no longer bothered with cores below the Fifth Realm, giving them all to other demon beasts.

After they consecutively captured three more cities, the pursuing troops finally caught up.

"It's also time to wipe them out!"

Ye Liuyun immediately halted the great army and summoned the Magic Vine and the Sealing Demon Tablet.

"You two, stop fighting over it.

"lest you let all the people escape.

"Cooperate: the Magic Vine will encircle the people, the Sealing Demon Tablet will smash them, but only absorb half the power, leaving the rest for the Magic Vine.

"Then the Magic Vine will only dig out the cores, leaving the corpses.

"That way you both gain, and no demon will escape—how about it?"

Ye Liuyun began giving them suggestions, so that they wouldn't always quarrel when fighting, sometimes letting enemies escape.

The two of them looked at each other and nodded in agreement.

"Alright, those thirty thousand pursuers behind are yours to handle! I'll only send people to clean up the battlefield."

Ye Liuyun arranged.

At that moment, those pursuers also disembarked from the warships and began to form ranks.

The Magic Vine immediately burrowed underground and rushed over.

The Sealing Demon Tablet also charged, enlarging its body, and smashed into the demon race's formation.

This time, the two of them cooperated happily.

The Magic Vine focused its main energy on the outskirts of the formation, encircling those demon race members.

In the army, martial cultivators without sufficient strength could not break through the Magic Vine's blockade at all.

Even those with high cultivation were first targeted and smashed to death by the Sealing Demon Tablet.

The Sealing Demon Tablet kept smashing within the circle; anyone it knocked down either died or was basically crippled, but it only absorbed half the energy, then went on to smash others.
