Chapter 194: Ranged Attack

Ye Liuyun saw that the Soul battlefield was no longer dangerous, so he withdrew all Divine Sense, and the area instantly reverted to the passage in the Cave.

This Soul battle left Ye Liuyun badly wounded. He immediately took a Concentration Pill to heal his injuries. At the same time, within his Sea of Consciousness he hastened the conversion of Divine Sense while intensively tempering thousands of Divine Sense with Thunder Fire.

At this moment, his Sea of Consciousness already contained ten thousand strands of Divine Sense, all simultaneously undergoing Thunder Fire tempering.

Ye Liuyun's Soul, unbeknownst to him, grew even stronger, reaching the pinnacle of Soul Master Level 4.

In fact, he hadn't paid much attention, but the slash he just dealt to the giant demon was already considered a ranged attack. In other words, this battle awakened his potential, raising his Soul Master rank to Level 5.

He merely noticed that as his Soul grew stronger, the Cave passage became increasingly spacious, almost twice as wide as before.

Ye Liuyun lost track of time, and after his Soul's injuries healed, he prepared to move forward. Suddenly, the Demon Slaying Sword on his back began to buzz, indicating that Ye Liuyun was looking down on it by not using it in combat.

Ye Liuyun was somewhat surprised and took the Demon Slaying Sword off. Then he suddenly thought that the sword also contained one strand of his Divine Sense, which should also harm Soul Demons.

So when he moved forward, he tested the Demon Slaying Sword, and indeed, the sword could not only cut physical objects but also cut Souls.

This discovery thrilled him; with the Demon Slaying Sword in hand, he felt more confidence about the road ahead.

The Demon Slaying Sword buzzed excitedly, fighting with even greater vigor.

Yet he didn't go far before the scene changed again. It was still a vast battlefield, but this time there were only two giant demons.

The two giant demons had already coalesced into form, as if waiting for him; the moment he arrived, they immediately launched an attack.

One, wielding a long spear, charged at Ye Liuyun. But the opponent was too far; even when he applied blade intent to strike the foe, it posed no real threat, forcing him to adopt a passive defense.

The other demon used illusion, dragging him into a swarm of countless demons. Yet if he did not resist, those demons created by the illusion would physically attack him.

"What kind of illusion can actually attack my Soul!" Ye Liuyun thought in shock, then activated his Illusion Pupil to study the illusion.

At the same time, he had to wield his sword to deal with the spear-wielding demon. Helpless, he once again dispatched his Divine Sense soldiers to block, while carefully examining the illusion's mechanism.

It turned out to be an illusion combined with a Divine Sense attack. Ye Liuyun's Golden Pupil saw everything clearly.

Immediately, he mimicked it, creating a Thunder Fire Domain around himself; all golden-armored soldiers fighting there received its boost, and the charging demons were almost instantly incinerated by Ye Liuyun's Thunder Fire.

Soon, Ye Liuyun reversed his disadvantage with the illusion, but his illusion's range was noticeably smaller, limited to an area around himself, unlike the opponent's broader coverage.

However, the Ten Thousand Gods Command continuously absorbed the Divine Soul Power of those dissipating demons, so his Thunder Fire Domain kept expanding.

Each of his blade intents also sliced farther and farther.

Ye Liuyun simultaneously took another Concentration Pill to cultivate his Soul's power and replenish consumption, while he stalemated with the two giant demons.

He refined his Thunder Fire illusion domain, while also striving to reach farther ranges with his attacks.

"Level 5 Soul Master!" Ye Liuyun finally realized he had upgraded to the Level 5 Soul Master tier.

A Level 5 Soul Master can perform ranged attacks, but his current attack range was still too short—less than three li—and needed great improvement.

At this point, Ye Liuyun's tens of thousands of Divine Sense finally became idle; any Soul entering his domain space was instantly annihilated by Thunder Fire. His current illusion domain was now highly refined, suffused with Blood Thunder and Golden Crow Holy Fire.

Seizing the opportunity, Ye Liuyun combined his ten thousand strands of Divine Sense into a golden-armored giant, wielding a golden Demon Slaying Sword, to battle the spear-wielding giant demon opposite him.

Then, Ye Liuyun's golden-armored giant alternated: at times becoming a shield to block the opponent's spear, at times turning into a massive blade that slashed from afar, and at times morphing into a blade formation derived from a sword array, roaring toward the foe, catching the opposing giant demon off guard; finally, under Ye Liuyun's blade formation, it was completely shredded into a mass of Black Fog.

Meanwhile, Ye Liuyun's illusion domain finally expanded to a ten-li radius, enveloping the opposing illusion-using giant demon; subsequently, all Thunder Fire power surged toward that demon, instantly blasting it to ash.

Afterwards, the Demon Qi generated by the two giant demons was all absorbed by the Ten Thousand Gods Command, purified, and then replenished to Ye Liuyun.

"My Soul has become more condensed and stronger!" Feeling the change in his Soul, he began using his illusion to transform the Cave he occupied back into a battlefield, then expanded the illusion domain as far as possible.

With his Soul now powerful, he deployed a range of twenty li this time.

Then he tried his Illusion Pupil again, which could see farther. He merged his illusion domain into the Illusion Pupil and tested it; indeed, wherever his Illusion Pupil could see, he could project the illusion domain, though the farther the distance, the weaker the effect.

Ye Liuyun was constantly astonished by his progress. His Illusion Pupil could see a thousand li away without obstruction, and even with some barriers, he could penetrate them to view distant locations.

With this trump card, he could slay enemies from a thousand li away!

Ye Liuyun impatiently began testing it; thereafter, whenever he encountered demons, regardless of distance, he killed them outright with his Golden Pupil. When he returned to the battlefield, he started using his Illusion Pupil to unleash his illusion domain.

This time, it was also his easiest battle.

Four massive demons, barely able to retaliate, were annihilated by him from afar.

Subsequent to that, he passed through two more battlefields; the giant demons multiplied, yet none escaped his fate of being slain by his ranged attacks.

As Ye Liuyun's Ten Thousand Gods Command absorbed this Demon Qi, his Soul grew ever stronger, and his methods of ranged Soul attacks became increasingly proficient.

"This truly is an excellent place to hone my skills; my Soul abilities are advancing rapidly!" Ye Liuyun thought to himself.

Ye Liuyun once again entered a battlefield, where dozens of giant demons were present.

He assumed it would be like before, merely more numerous, and expected to wipe out three or four upon approaching. Yet suddenly he sensed something amiss.

The giant demons he eliminated had their Souls devoured by other giants, causing those giants to grow considerably stronger, making them harder for him to kill.

Ye Liuyun tried to eliminate two more giant demons, but the result was the same: they were seized and devoured by other giants, which then grew stronger.

"This can't continue! These giant demons will only keep getting stronger!" Ye Liuyun mused to himself, devising a strategy.
