Chapter 2042: Delivered to the Door

Eh... I really guessed correctly!

Ye Liuyun thought to himself.

He immediately jumped off the platform, returned the token, and respectfully bowed to Elder Withered Glory.

"Do you know who I am?"

Elder Withered Glory proactively asked Ye Liuyun.

"I know! Elder Withered Glory!"

Ye Liuyun replied.

"Looks like you did plenty of research on the Profound Heaven Sect before coming!"

Elder Withered Glory began to probe.

Upon hearing that, Ye Liuyun felt that Elder Withered Glory was suspecting him.

"No need to investigate; the elder's reputation is known to all!"

Ye Liuyun didn't answer the elder's probing but changed the subject.

"Your performance in the secret realm, I have also seen.

How did you discover the location of those treasures?"

Elder Withered Glory continued asking.

"Soul search, then based on experience and some details, react according to the situation on the spot..." Ye Liuyun immediately spoke his prepared explanation, and indeed there were no loopholes.

Afterwards, Elder Withered Glory also asked Ye Liuyun some questions about his identity and background.

But the more Ye Liuyun spoke flawlessly, the more the elder doubted him.

"Your strength is so great; why come to our Profound Heaven Sect?"

Elder Withered Glory asked.

"My strength is merely a bit stronger than others at the same realm.

At least I'm no match for you! I came to the Profound Heaven Sect, of course, to become stronger!"

Ye Liuyun said calmly.

Elder Withered Glory shook his head, still not trusting Ye Liuyun.

He felt Ye Liuyun's words were too perfect.

In the end, he still decided to perform a soul search on Ye Liuyun to confirm his true intentions.

"Your words are too perfect; I still can't trust you! The only way for me to trust you is to perform a soul search!

However, you don't need to worry.

Your soul is already not weak; if you cooperate a bit and I am careful, I won't cause you any harm.

If I confirm you have no issues, I will give you compensation.

These things are all for you!"

Elder Withered Glory said, then tossed another storage ring to Ye Liuyun.

Ye Liuyun scanned it with his divine sense and found it contained only resources for cultivating the soul.

"Is there no other way?"

Ye Liuyun asked.

Actually he was using this time to consider whether to seize the opportunity to attack Elder Withered Glory.

Elder Withered Glory shook his head and said: "I can't think of another method, and I don't have time to keep watching you later."

Ye Liuyun pretended to think for a moment and then said: "Alright, I agree!"

He had already decided to seize this opportunity, with no outsiders present, to attack Elder Withered Glory.

This was a rare chance— the opponent literally delivered himself to the door!

Seeing Ye Liuyun agree, Elder Withered Glory's tone softened a bit, and he began to explain: "Hope you understand, don't blame us! The Profound Heaven Sect currently faces internal and external troubles, and since you are seen by everyone as the perfect disciple, I have to be cautious."

"Disciple understands!"

Ye Liuyun also politely replied: "I won't blame you.

I just hope you'll be extra careful when performing the soul search!"

"Alright."

Elder Withered Glory also nodded in satisfaction, immediately released his soul, and rushed into Ye Liuyun's sea of consciousness.

He also knew Ye Liuyun's soul was strong, so he didn't dare be careless; both souls were released together.

But as his divine sense just rushed into Ye Liuyun's sea of consciousness, it was enveloped by the golden light emitted from the Ten Thousand Gods Command and was implanted with a slave seal by Ye Liuyun.

Ye Liuyun's two souls also immediately rushed into his sea of consciousness, to prevent him from having a backup soul like the National Teacher Jiang Yuan.

But Ye Liuyun this time was overthinking.

Elder Withered Glory was not as cunning as Jiang Yuan; he only had two souls, and both were implanted with slave seals by Ye Liuyun.

Ye Liuyun's souls then returned to his sea of consciousness with peace of mind, and began to perform a soul search on Elder Withered Glory.

At this point he learned that the Profound Heaven Sect indeed faces internal and external troubles.

The external troubles refer not only to his Death Legion, but also to major powers like the Spirit Clan, which have always been eyeing the Profound Heaven Sect.

The internal trouble is the First Holy Son, who is monopolizing the sect's disciples for the Ten Thousand Merchants Alliance, turning the Profound Heaven Sect into a pawn of the Ten Thousand Merchants Alliance.

Elder Withered Glory usually does not participate in sect affairs; besides Yao Dong Lai, there is also a Deputy Sect Master in charge of external affairs, named Lu Yi, who is at the Eighth Tier Early Stage and also has a clone of the same realm.

The Profound Heaven Sect also has two powerful elders, one male and one female— Qiao Yun and Bai Feng, both at the Mid-Eighth Realm, and they can be considered the sect's main martial pillars.

Other elders, besides Yao Dong Lai, are Jin Qing Song, Wu Kun, and others who are relatively important.

There's no need for him to control all of them.

As for Elder Withered Glory's special cultivation method, it is not suitable for Ye Liuyun to learn from.

Its principle is simply the yin‑yang cycle, which is quite easy to understand.

Ye Liuyun returned Elder Ku Rong's Soul, but discovered that he had developed a desire to die.

"I didn't let you die, so you can't die!"

Ye Liuyun coldly instructed Elder Ku Rong.

"I cannot bear to see Profound Heaven Sect fall into outsiders' hands, nor do I wish to bring it down because of me!"

Elder Ku Rong replied truthfully.

"Live properly! I will not harm Profound Heaven Sect; on the contrary, I will help it develop even better!"

Ye Liuyun said to Elder Ku Rong.

Elder Ku Rong was somewhat surprised.

Because he had already seen Ye Liuyun's Soul and knew it was Ye Liuyun.

He couldn't understand what Ye Liuyun meant by saying that.

"I came to Profound Heaven Sect mainly for self‑preservation.

But Death Legion and Profound Heaven Sect need not be antagonistic; they can cooperate deeply.

You must stay alive; Profound Heaven Sect still needs you.

When you realize that I intend to harm Profound Heaven Sect, then dying later won't be too late!"

Ye Liuyun was too lazy to explain in detail, so he walked out of the Cave and let him ponder on his own.

Anyway, he disagreed; Elder Ku Rong couldn't even die despite wanting to.

At this moment, Mao Hongyin had already arrived outside the Cave to fetch Ye Liuyun.

"Congratulations on passing the test and becoming an inner‑door disciple of Profound Heaven Sect.

First, come with me to handle the paperwork and confirm your status!"

Mao Hongyin looked at Ye Liuyun, also very excited.

After all, he had witnessed the whole test of this promising talent.

He also knew that Profound Heaven Sect currently especially needed an outstanding disciple who could break the First Holy Son's kidnapping.

Ye Liuyun followed Mao Hongyin to the registration office, completed the paperwork, obtained the inner‑door Token, changed into the inner‑door disciple's attire, and was then taken directly by him to the Grand Hall.

He had previously passed the Soul Search and knew which Elders were in the Grand Hall.

Therefore, he had already decided to choose Jin Qing Song.

Jin Qing Song is an eighth‑rank Alchemist, one rank higher than Lin Luoyi.

This way, he not only has the chance to meet more people, but can also conveniently learn alchemy techniques.

Qiao Yun and Bai Feng were also in the Grand Hall, but the two are martial fanatics who rarely interact with outsiders, which does not fit Ye Liuyun's goal.

But since he is so in demand, Ye Liuyun also intends to properly squeeze Jin Qing Song, the future cheap master.
