Chapter 238: Soul Detachment

~6 min read 1,199 words

Reentering the Red Soul Cave, Ye Liuyun could be said to be as familiar with it as a seasoned traveler.

His current focus is cultivating Soul Devouring, so he basically does not use Spiritual Soul Attack or Thunder Fire Domain, continuously devouring those weak demon Souls. Though his progress is slower, his Soul has become considerably stronger.

When he reached the spot where he had left last time, he could directly devour those demon Souls without needing to strike.

The more he devours, the stronger his Soul becomes.

So he cultivated in place for quite a while, and only after absorbing all those demon Souls did he continue onward.

The demon Souls were the same as always: the deeper he went, the stronger and larger the demon Souls became.

This time, however, he encountered a demon Soul about the same size as himself.

He tried the same method to devour this Soul, but found that within a short time it was hard to swallow. The Soul was too condensed, like a demon Soul a hundred zhang tall compressed to this size.

Moreover, this demon Soul's attack speed and power were no less than those of the previous colossal ones.

This gave Ye Liuyun much insight.

"Now my Soul, in quantity, is already sufficient; I should compress them to be even more condensed."

Thus, Ye Liuyun released a Golden Armor Giant, devouring the demon Soul while compressing the Golden Armor Giant.

The Divine Sense that formed the Golden Armor Giant gradually coalesced, becoming tighter; the Giant's size also shrank.

After he completely devoured that demon Soul, he found his own Golden Armor Giant had reached roughly his own height.

Moreover, this Golden Armor Giant could expand at will, adjusting its size to match an opponent's form, making combat much more convenient.

Then he used Blood Thunder, Golden Crow Holy Fire, and Nether Ghost Fire to further temper the Golden Armor Giant, and sealed it into his Sea of Consciousness.

He suddenly realized that the Golden Armor Giant could no longer be broken down! He inexplicably possessed two Souls.

"Reached the seventh level of Soul Master?" Ye Liuyun was somewhat surprised by his Soul's transformation.

From now on he could keep one Soul for defense and one for offense.

He then pressed on, replenishing his consumed Divine Sense by devouring demon Souls. Afterwards he outlined the Golden Armor Giant's features, creating a second Soul identical to his own.

Then he used Divine Sense to forge a set of golden armor for the first Soul as well.

In this way, his Sea of Consciousness now contained two identical golden‑armored Souls, usable for attack or defense.

Then within his Sea of Consciousness he cultivated tens of thousands of stronger Divine Senses for attack and scouting.

Ye Liuyun's current Divine Soul Power is far greater than that of ordinary holy practitioners. Ordinary holy practitioners' Soul condensation is only at the level of a fourth‑ or fifth‑level Soul Master; they simply may not use Divine Sense attacks.

Ye Liuyun, now at Soul Master seventh level, can easily annihilate these holy practitioners with his Soul.

Even by merely unleashing Thunder Fire Domain, many holy practitioners cannot resist; if he adds a golden armor martial soul, his Soul's true combat power would likely have no rival within the Holy Realm.

Ye Liuyun thought for a moment and decided to seize the opportunity and keep moving forward.

After consecutively devouring more demon Souls, both of his Souls became immensely powerful.

Ye Liuyun felt he had hit another bottleneck. After all, his Soul power was rising quickly and could not be increased indefinitely.

Just as he was about to leave, a hoarse voice suddenly sounded.

"Kid, come in; you've already reached the deepest part of the Red Soul Cave!"

Ye Liuyun activated his Golden Pupil and saw that, indeed, ahead was a circular hall, no longer the long corridor he had traversed before.

So, out of curiosity, he stepped inside. With the Ten Thousand Gods Command in his Sea of Consciousness, he wasn't at all worried about any harm from those demon Souls.

Inside the hall stood a Demon of the Demon Race covered in crimson scales, over ten zhang tall, with a sharp horn on its head.

It was bound tightly by multiple chains, and the area around it was sealed with a Formation to prevent its escape.

The red giant demon sized him up, then praised, "Seventh‑level Soul Master pinnacle! At such a young age, your Soul power is already this strong; the Human Race still has talented individuals!"

"Are you the demon called Red Soul?" Ye Liuyun asked.

"Red Soul? That's your Human Race's term. I am of the Soul Demon clan, a mutated branch of the Demon Race, whose status far exceeds that of ordinary demons," the Red Soul Giant Demon said disdainfully.

"Why are you imprisoned here? And why help the Human Race train their Souls?" Ye Liuyun asked curiously.

The Red Soul Giant Demon replied helplessly, "My Soul is immortal; your Human Race cannot kill me, only imprison me. As for training you, that's because of the Formation here. The Formation extracts the Soul Demon's Soul power from me. I am forced."

"How could an immortal exist?" Ye Liuyun said, somewhat skeptical.

The Red Soul Giant Demon nodded, "Indeed, there is no truly immortal; those who captured me simply lacked the strength."

Ye Liuyun thought the Red Soul Giant Demon seemed reliable enough, and asked, "What business do you have in inviting me in?"

"A trade with you?" the Red Soul Giant Demon said, looking at Ye Liuyun.

"Trade?" Ye Liuyun smiled faintly. "Tell me."

"I will help you cultivate your Soul to an immortal, undying state, and you let me go," the Red Soul Giant Demon replied bluntly.

He looked at the Formation and the chains binding the demon, and said, "I lack the ability to release you. Moreover, even if I don't free you, as long as I keep training here, I can still raise my Soul's power and eventually reach an immortal, undying state."

The Red Soul Giant Demon glanced at him and laughed.

"The old ones initially thought like you, but none could truly become immortal. They believed they were strong enough to destroy me, only to be devoured by me."

"I have never forced cultivation; I always go with the flow. Others' inability doesn't mean I can't."

Ye Liuyun said lightly.

"Don't be so quick to refuse! For you, letting me out is easy. Just absorb my primordial Soul into your Sea of Consciousness, and you can take me out," the Red Soul Giant Demon persisted, trying to persuade Ye Liuyun.

"What will you do after you get out?" Ye Liuyun asked.

"Naturally I will return to the Outer Region to find my kind," the Red Soul Giant Demon said.

"Outer Region? Where is that? How far is it from here?" Ye Liuyun's interest was piqued the moment he heard Outer Region.

"Beyond this continent lies the Outer Region. Even if I travel by Flying Boat, it would take several years to reach my destination," the Red Soul Giant Demon said, his thoughts drifting back to his homeland.
