"Do you never need to rest during the intervals between battles?" Chen Yueying finally asked. She rarely saw Ye Liuyun take a break; he seemed to be constantly cultivating.

"You don't have to stop cultivating! I'm used to being chased and to fighting; I can cultivate while hurrying, and cultivate while fighting." Ye Liuyun said naturally.

Chen Yueying stared at him blankly for a moment, then asked, "What exactly have you gone through before, that made you this strong now?"

Ye Liuyun thought of the countless times he was chased, countless blood battles with the Foreign Tribe, countless schemes against him, and gave a helpless bitter smile: "It's better you don't know; I hope you never have to experience that many."

Chen Yueying had previously heard Ye Liuyun recount some of his experiences. But he always downplayed the dangers, sometimes skipping over them, which only made Chen Yueying more curious about him. So whenever she got a chance, she would probe Ye Liuyun's past.

He then proceeded to body refinement, consuming all the tempering liquid until he developed resistance to it and could no longer absorb its energy, at which point he stopped.

His realm consequently broke through to the later stage of the second tier of Taixu. The Primordial Power he recently obtained from the Taixu World arrived just in time; otherwise he truly would have run out of cultivation resources.

Yet after the breakthrough, the resources he had just acquired were completely consumed.

"We'll have to see what the next mission yields!" He could only place his hope in the next Sect mission.

This mission was to explore a Secret Realm and locate its Primordial Power. It was likely assigned by a major power, intending to seize control of the Secret Realm after finding its Primordial Power.

Ye Liuyun chose this mission because the Secret Realm was said to be the former residence of a God King before his fall, and it should contain many treasures! However, many disciples had already gone in and never returned, indicating the danger inside the Secret Realm was considerable.

When Ye Liuyun and Chen Yueying arrived at the Secret Realm's entrance, they found a garrison stationed there. Presumably the power that issued the mission feared that once someone found the Primordial Power, they would simply take the Secret Realm, so they had deployed a large army around it,

thus anyone who found the Primordial Power could only report its location to them, not silently seize the Secret Realm.

These soldiers merely guard the Secret Realm and do not forbid Martial Cultivators from entering. Yet ever since they opened the Secret Realm, no one who entered has ever come out.

"Are you sure you want to go in? No one who went in has ever come out!" Chen Yueying reminded him again before they entered.

Ye Liuyun retorted, "Are you sure you want to go in? Actually you don't need to adventure with me; you can just wait outside! I have no resources and must fight desperately for them, whereas you lack nothing."

"You're not afraid; does that mean I'm the one who is?" Chen Yueying said firmly, looking at him.

Thus the two fell silent, exchanged a smile, and resolutely stepped into the Secret Realm.

The Secret Realm had a pleasant name, Carefree Cavern Heaven, and was the former residence of a previous God King.

As soon as they entered, they were stunned by the scenery before them.

In front of them lay a green meadow dotted with blooming flowers, distant trees lush and verdant, a small bridge over flowing water. The Secret Realm was suffused with spiritual energy, celestial cranes calling, like a fairyland.

"Such dense spiritual energy—this Secret Realm's Primordial Power must be extraordinary!" Ye Liuyun was not distracted by the scenery; he thought of the mission.

"Wow! This place is so beautiful!" Chen Yueying was immediately captivated by the lovely environment.

Suddenly, the Ten Thousand Gods Command in Ye Liuyun's Sea of Consciousness began to flash with Golden Light.

"Illusion Realm?" Ye Liuyun was startled.

Yet even as the Ten Thousand Gods Command radiated Golden Light, when he looked with his Golden Pupil, the world showed no change.

"An Illusion Realm overlapping the real world?" He immediately realized that the original master of this world possessed highly skilled illusion arts. Such overlapping Illusion Realms are even harder to detect.

Even if someone could notice, by the time the Illusion Realm differed from the real environment, it would be hard to discern.

"Did you notice anything abnormal here?" Ye Liuyun asked Chen Yueying at once.

Within Chen Yueying's Sea of Consciousness there were also artifacts that defended against illusion attacks; though of modest grade, they should still have some effect.

Yet this completely overlapping Illusion Realm left her with no defense at all. Moreover, without any illusion attack, her artifacts likely wouldn't activate.

He hurried to retreat, but only moved back a single real step—not the vast distance of the previous step, which felt like a world apart.

The Ten Thousand Gods Command still radiated Golden Light in his Sea of Consciousness, confirming he wasn't seeing an illusion. He immediately activated his Golden Pupil, using Spatial Power to sense the spatial layout here.
