Chapter 3709: The Distinction of Strength and Weakness

"It's not absorption; it's the misfortune curse that drains your fortune. Once a person loses their fortune, even walking can cause them to fall to death, let alone fighting!" Black Cat said proudly.

Ye Liuyun thought to himself that using this Black Cat against the God King would be just right.

"Stop the nonsense and decide quickly; I don't have time to waste with you." Ye Liuyun finished, and the Technique in his eyes gathered again.

"You…" Black Cat was forced by Ye Liuyun into silence.

"Then you must let me cultivate in front of this stone tablet from now on, and not disturb me!" Black Cat finally compromised.

"The stone tablet just now supplied me with fortune?" Ye Liuyun asked the Black Cat.

"Of course. Otherwise would I be afraid of you?" Black Cat rolled its eyes and said.

Ye Liuyun pressed further: "You said you don't absorb fortune; then why cultivate at this stone tablet?"

"When I'm fighting I have no time to absorb, but during regular cultivation there's no time limit, so I can absorb this fortune to boost my ability to wield the misfortune curse," the Black Cat explained, a bit impatiently.

Ye Liuyun was about to agree, but suddenly recalled the earlier incident where he thought the God King had deliberately harmed it, and asked again: "How many people have refined this Secret Realm before?"

"After my master died, no one has refined it since!" the Black Cat said sadly.

"No one ever refined it? How could that be?" Ye Liuyun found it hard to believe. Such a valuable thing, would the God King be indifferent? Moreover, the God King already has fortune's blessing; he would surely know the stone tablet's usage without asking.

"There were people, but I drove them away! My master's belongings aren't for just anyone to lay claim to!" Black Cat said casually.

"You're so weak, yet they couldn't beat you?" Ye Liuyun doubted that the Black Cat was bragging.

"You're the weak one! If your own fortune weren't stronger, I would have knocked you down long ago! If it weren't for your master's stone tablet supplementing your fortune, even with that Technique I wouldn't fear you!"

"I can attack you from afar; once I disperse the fortune on your body, your Technique won't even reach me!" Black Cat retorted defiantly.

After understanding the situation, Ye Liuyun didn't want to waste time with the proud Black Cat: "I can let you recognize me as master, but I need to know your cultivation realm and the strength of your Soul. If you're too weak, I don't intend to take you!"

The Black Cat thought it over, found it reasonable, and immediately dropped its disguise; Ye Liuyun's Golden Pupil finally saw that it was at the Second Stage of Dong Tian.

Yet when he saw the size of its Soul, Ye Liuyun felt ashamed. Though the Black Cat had cultivated only one soul source, it was two to three times larger than his three combined, like a colossal beast that towers to the heavens.

"How did this creature cultivate? No wonder my Golden Pupil can't pierce its strength. The Divine Soul Power gap is huge!"

Ye Liuyun thought to himself, cleared his throat: "I promised you that you may cultivate before this stone tablet from now on. But after you recognize me as master, remember the stone tablet belongs to me; it's the opportunity I gave you. When I need it, I must use it first!"

"Fine, fine, got it." The Black Cat grew impatient again.

Ye Liuyun immediately released a Soul to plant a Slave Seal on the Black Cat. He also used Soul Search to learn about the stone tablet's and the Black Cat's origins, as well as the Black Cat's cultivation method.

The master of this Cave Heaven World was originally a priest of the Witch tribe, especially adept at wielding this misfortune curse. He even used the collected fortune to cultivate and accumulate.

He died because of excessive pride, pouring too much of the gathered fortune into the stone tablet, leaving his own fortune depleted and being slain by an opponent.

Yet the Black Cat wasn't bragging. Indeed, many who refined this Secret Realm were driven away by the Black Cat. So no one can fully control this Secret Realm now.

The God King also had tried, but his God King fortune couldn't be used here; this place is essentially another world.

He is especially sensitive to fortune; after being drained by the Black Cat's misfortune curse,

feeling his fortune slipping away, he dared not try again.

It was precisely because he suffered that loss that he wanted to silently trap Ye Liuyun. He had given the items anyway; whether Ye Liuyun could subdue them was his own matter.

But he never expected that, in the Black Cat's eyes, Ye Liuyun's fortune was so strong, so it could somewhat accept Ye Liuyun internally, and from the start it never intended to drive him away.

When it saw Ye Liuyun trying to dismantle the stone tablet and fighting desperately, it didn't expect the stone tablet to use its own accumulated fortune to supplement Ye Liuyun.

This shows the stone tablet has already recognized Ye Liuyun as its new master, so the Black Cat has no way left to keep Ye Liuyun.

The reason the Black Cat can cultivate such terrifying Divine Soul Power is that it can absorb and transmute Yin Soul into nourishment for its own Divine Soul Power.

This Cave Heaven World also has abundant ferocious beast resources, so its Divine Soul Power rises quickly. The stronger its Divine Soul Power, the greater and faster the misfortune curse's effect.

"Hey, what contract did you sign while I wasn't paying attention?" The Black Cat, after Ye Liuyun finished Soul Search, became curious.

"Call me master, no disrespect!" Ye Liuyun immediately controlled the Slave Seal, making it recognize him as master.

"Master!"

The Black Cat hadn't even reacted before it shouted out.

Even though its Soul is powerful, once a Slave Seal is planted, it can only fully obey Ye Liuyun's commands.

"You can cultivate here first; I have other matters to attend to. I might need your help in a fight soon."

Ye Liuyun said, then tossed it some ferocious beasts he had slain in a trial, as its food and cultivation resources.

He also gave it some blue crystal stones that purify the Soul and pills that refine True Essence.

The Black Cat's eyes lit up instantly, surprised by its new master's generosity. It didn't even think about how it had been marked with a Slave Seal by Ye Liuyun.

"Master, you can call me Little Witch from now on. I'm strong and can help you fight!"

"Fine!" Ye Liuyun replied, then exited the Cave Heaven World.

"Not bad, I've acquired a special enforcer, perfect for countering God King Wang Tianqi. And I've gained a way to increase my own fortune." Ye Liuyun was quite satisfied with the benefits this Cave Heaven World gave him.

The crystal stone in that stone tablet, after its fortune is exhausted, can be collected and replenished again; he'll master it gradually later.

With Little Witch as his aide, Ye Liuyun felt more confident about the upcoming crisis.

Then he went to find Qiong Qi, asking him to help craft some Formation Plates and Formation Flags, to be kept for large-scale battles and survival.

Seeing everyone around him improving their cultivation, he stopped idling. After all, he must be strong enough himself to face all dangers. He felt he had been relying too much on external assistance lately. The recent code conversion is severe, giving us more motivation, faster updates; please click to exit reading mode. Thank you.
