Chapter 3946: Forced Marriage

The clone discovered the Void Beast King in the void, but the huge bug was too fast; it reached him as soon as he saw it, and before the clone could use Time Power, it was swallowed together with the Demon Lion.

Ye Liuyun rushed to rescue the people and could no longer explain things to the others.

This time he activated Time Power to reverse time. Fortunately the duration was brief, so his consumption was small, and he rewound time to the moment the Void Beast King was about to swallow the clone and the Demon Lion, pulling the two into the Cave Heaven World.

Then, while time stood still, he rushed into the Beast King's Sea of Consciousness, burned the overlapping void with Nether Ghost Fire, located the Beast King's Soul, and placed a Slave Seal on it as well.

At that moment in the void, Ye Liuyun stood atop the Beast King's head. The Beast King stayed put, not attacking anyone outside the void.

Ye Liuyun used Soul Search to learn more about the Void Beast Race.

The reason they seek metal‑reinforced Beast Nests is simply because they face threats from other races and are building defenses.

If Ye Liuyun were to take this Beast King away or kill it, the remaining Void Beasts would also not escape being slain by opponents.

Ye Liuyun thought it over and, unwilling to destroy them, released it, merely using a Slave Seal to control it so the Void Beasts would no longer pursue them.

He also gave it two low‑grade Mineral Veins obtained from the Demon Race.

The Void Beast gratefully thanked Ye Liuyun, then hurried away and vanished from the void in an instant.

"This Spatial Power is truly overwhelming," he said, yet he sensed no disturbance.

Ye Liuyun's Divine Soul Power consumption was high, so he needed to return to recuperate.

He immediately released the clone and the Demon Lion, taking the two back to rejoin the others.

"The Void Beast King has been driven back; they won't attack us again. Let's continue sailing with the Flying Boat!" Ye Liuyun omitted the details, merely informing the group that the Void Beast King had retreated.

He didn't take any corpses to claim a reward.

The others saw his weary expression, guessed he was tired, asked nothing, and launched the Flying Boat as he instructed.

Ye Liuyun left the clone outside and returned with the others to continue cultivation.

He waited until his Divine Soul Power recovered before going out to tell Fu Wushuang.

"The Void Beast King's strength is too great; I can't kill it, so I had to reach an agreement and let it withdraw."

"This outcome is already good, better than them constantly hunting us! So the reward should still go to Captain Ye!" Fu Wushuang insisted that Ye Liuyun receive a reward.

But Ye Liuyun declined.

"No merit, no salary! I appreciate Miss Fu's kindness, but this violates the rules."

Fu Wushuang didn't press further, merely inviting Ye Liuyun to share a meal.

"You seemed exhausted just now; take a short rest. I've prepared plenty of wine and dishes—let me treat you to a relaxing meal, how about it?"

Ye Liuyun thought it over and agreed to rest.

During the meal, the two chatted casually.

"Miss Fu, how did you end up marrying so far away?" Ye Liuyun asked merely to fill the silence and avoid awkwardness.

"I was forced!" Fu Wushuang explained to Ye Liuyun: "My father couldn't defeat that man and was forced to sign this marriage contract."

"Oh!"

Ye Liuyun heard that and didn't know what to say. He didn't want to meddle in such trivial matters.

Moreover, he wasn't close to Fu Wushuang, so he wouldn't promise to help her without confirming the truth.

Fu Wushuang, seeing no further response, showed disappointment in her eyes; her earlier fondness for Ye Liuyun had waned considerably.

"Alas!" she sighed, "Perhaps this is my fate!"

Nevertheless, she hopeful asked Ye Liuyun: "If I offer a reward, can Captain Ye step in and eliminate the opponent?"

But Ye Liuyun still refused: "We'll see the situation then and decide."

Fu Wushuang spoke of "eliminating the opponent," but he didn't yet understand the truth of the matter or the opponent's condition, so he couldn't simply agree.

Even if a reward were involved, he would need to see the opponent's strength first.

Fu Wushuang thought he was worried the opponent was too strong and thus hesitant to agree immediately.

"Understood!" So she stopped pressing him on the matter.

After all, Ye Liuyun was merely a Mercenary captain, and she shouldn't hold too much hope for him.

The atmosphere between them grew awkward, and Ye Liuyun promptly took his leave and returned to continue cultivation.

Fu Wushuang also silently returned to cultivate, aiming to raise her realm as much as possible. When the time came, she would attempt to assassinate the opponent; if she failed, she would commit suicide.

By fulfilling the marriage contract, she would complete the Divine Soul Contract her father was forced to sign and save her father. As for her own life, she no longer cared.

Ye Liuyun sat in meditation for a while before entering cultivation mode.

Such incidents are common among Martial Cultivators; he couldn't possibly handle them all.

Moreover, pondering it now was useless; if Fu Wushuang's words were true and she could help later, he would certainly lend a hand, so he didn't worry much.

He now had to refine his own energy, so he needed to seize every moment for cultivation; otherwise his realm would advance slowly and couldn't meet his combat needs.

Although his War God armor, Demon Slaying Sword, and Heaven Devourer had each risen a grade, the Monster Beasts' realms were also high, and there were many Kuailei, he couldn't rely forever on external aid.

But battles in Xingkong were countless; every two or three days they ran into trouble and had to fight. Even passing Martial Cultivators would opportunistically rob each other.

Ye Liuyun also had to go out to deal with them; when facing weaker opponents, he would let Ye Tiandao and Tang Xinyao go out to spar.

Ye Tiandao, having followed Ye Liuyun for years, had firmly established foundations of Soul, Physical Body, and bloodline.

Her Spatial Power was also impressive, along with the Ten Thousand Poison Heart Sutra; within her Sea of Consciousness lay Nether Ghost Fire, making her combat strength surprisingly high.

Especially her sword intent, which can cleave Martial Cultivators of the Sixth Layer of Cave Heaven directly, earning her the respect of other mercenary groups, and even Fu Wushuang envied her strength. Ai Dou reads a book

Under Qi Yue's guidance, Tang Xinyao's spear technique has improved considerably lately, allowing her to barely contend with Martial Cultivators of the Third Stage of Dong Tian using a weapon.

However, if she faces a Demon Cultivator, the Buddha Light Power within her True Essence can let her challenge an additional realm. Moreover, her Ten Thousand Poison Heart Sutra, Nether Ghost Fire, and Spatial Power are all strong.

"How do you all cultivate to be able to challenge across realms?"

Fu Wushuang seized a chance and chatted casually with Tang Xinyao and Ye Tiandao.

The others were fighting a band of robbers up front, while the few of lower realms waited behind for a chance to act.

"Isn't it all thanks to the resources he provided!"

Tang Xinyao also made no secret of her admiration and reliance on Ye Liuyun.
