Chapter 400

Ye Liuyun's Golden Pupil swept over this scorched earth.

Aside from the land being blackened, everything else was burned to nothing, nothing else remained.

His Golden Pupil could see far, but a few barren mountains ahead blocked the view.

Ye Liuyun used the space‑crossing power of his Golden Pupil to look into the distance. Beyond several hills, a black double‑headed giant dog as large as a hill lay sleeping on the ground. Beneath it, many life Crystal Stones were exposed.

The vicious dog's massive jaws were slightly open, revealing two sharp fangs, and its saliva streamed down like a mountain stream.

It appeared to be at the sixth or seventh layer of the Heavenly Gang Realm.

"What abilities does this vicious dog have?" Ye Liuyun asked Hell Mingshe.

"One head spits fire, the other head emits poisonous smoke. Its body is sturdy and especially resistant to blows! But its intellect is low, stubborn, so a Divine Soul Attack is the best method," Hell Mingshe told Ye Liuyun.

As Ye Liuyun observed the Hell double‑headed dog, it seemed to sense something, raised its ears alertly, opened both eyes, and began probing its territory with Divine Sense.

When it discovered Ye Liuyun's group, it immediately leapt up and let out two howls toward them.

When it stood up, Ye Liuyun clearly saw a thick layer of life Crystal Stones beneath its body.

"Good fellow! The loot is really plentiful!" Ye Liuyun exclaimed.

Hell Mingshe also shouted, "That damned dog has gotten clever; it's calling for help."

Sure enough, Ye Liuyun saw the ground around them bulge, and many Yin Souls burst out, swarming toward Ye Liuyun's party.

Seeing that these Yin Souls were of low realm, Ye Liuyun let the others fight, letting them train their Divine Soul's resistance to blows. He himself focused on absorbing the power within the life Crystal Stones, rapidly advancing his realm. Occasionally, Yin Souls that rushed to his side were directly devoured by Hell Mingshe.

"Why does this Hell double‑headed dog not appear in the form of a Yin Soul?" Ye Liuyun asked curiously.

"Not all Hell creatures lack a Physical Body. I once had a Physical Body too!" Hell Mingshe's Physical Body was the one Ye Liuyun had destroyed!

"Oh, I really want to go to Hell and see what it's like!" Ye Liuyun joked.

Hell Mingshe immediately replied, "Better not look. Apart from the dead and Yin Souls, there's nothing worth seeing. Not a single normal person! It's perpetually dark, pitch black. I never want to return!"

Ye Liuyun smiled and told the group, "We'll walk forward slowly; when I get closer to that Hell double‑headed dog, we can attack it later. You all practice your techniques first." The nearer the distance, the more effective his Divine Soul Attack becomes.

At this moment, Ye Liuyun's realm had already risen to the peak of the Seventh Layer of the Golden Core, about to breakthrough. He estimated that absorbing a few more life Crystal Stones would let him breakthrough to the Eighth Layer of the Golden Core.

The Hell dog, seeing the ordinary Yin Soul attacks ineffective, barked wildly twice. Ye Liuyun's group felt a gust of cold wind sweep in, and from the ground emerged two charred zombies, each at the First Layer of the Heavenly Gang Realm, charging at them.

Su Miaoyin lifted her flute and began to play at once. It was Ye Liuyun's first time seeing her attack with a flute, so he did not rush to act, instead observing her method.

Su Miaoyin's melody was gentle. The two zombies kept charging forward, but after a few steps their movements slowed. Eventually, as her tune grew slower, the zombies came to a complete halt, standing motionless.

Ye Liuyun felt Su Miaoyin's flute tone did not strongly affect the Divine Soul attack. It must be that the two zombies' Divine Souls were weak.

So he used Divine Sense to inspect, and indeed, only two simple strands of Divine Sense controlled the two zombies.

Ye Liuyun immediately erased those two strands of Divine Sense, then inserted two of his own. Upon testing, it worked; the two zombies instantly became his puppets.

"Ha ha, now the Skeleton Puppet has a companion!"

Speaking of the Skeleton Puppet, Ye Liuyun hadn't used it for a while. When he could fight on his own, he tried to avoid using the Skeleton Puppet.

Ye Liuyun merged these two zombie puppets with the Skeleton Puppet.

The Hell double‑headed dog, seeing this, dug its double claws into the ground, fully enraged, and lunged toward Ye Liuyun. With a mountain peak still between them, Ye Liuyun employed his space‑crossing Golden Pupil to launch an attack.

He worried that if the Hell double‑headed dog got too close, it would harm the others.

After he released his Divine Soul domain, Hell Mingshe immediately charged forward. Meanwhile, Ye Liuyun's own Divine Soul, a Yi Dao, sliced forward bearing Nether Ghost Fire.

The double‑headed Hell dog, initially startled by the space‑crossing Golden Pupil attack, was further shocked upon seeing Hell Mingshe and turned to flee. Yet within Ye Liuyun's Divine Soul domain it could not escape. Hell Mingshe, however, could instantly appear anywhere; with a few tail flicks he dragged it down.

The Nether Ghost Fire carried by Ye Liuyun's Yi Dao nearly sliced off one of its Divine Soul heads.

"Ha ha ha, you stupid dog. Still so useless!" Hell Mingshe taunted while striking, and the Hell double‑headed dog could only whimper.

Ye Liuyun seized the chance to perform a Soul Search on it. The search confirmed that within this Secret Realm there truly was a Hell Gate, and its appearance signified a surge of death events in the world.

"It seems related to the Foreign Tribe and Corpse Demon," Ye Liuyun thought. However, the Hell double‑headed dog's intellect was indeed low; it knew little, only a rough idea.

But just as Ye Liuyun and Hell Mingshe believed the double‑headed dog would be destroyed, its Physical Body stirred. A surge of Divine Soul power suddenly revived within the Hell double‑headed dog's body, as if its second Divine Soul had awakened.

"Bad, the Hell double‑headed dog's Divine Soul has risen!"

Ye Liuyun muttered, immediately deploying the Skeleton Puppet for defense; he also tossed the two newly‑tamed zombies out, hoping they could hold off for a while. At the same time, he accelerated the elimination of the vicious dog's Divine Soul.

He dared not pull the Hell double‑headed dog's other Divine Soul in at once; if he failed, his own Divine Soul could suffer greater damage. After all, the dog's realm was a layer higher than the Skeleton Puppet's.

At the Heavenly Gang Realm, a one‑layer gap is a world of difference. Though the Skeleton Puppet's supreme‑grade weapon managed a single clash, it was knocked away without serious injury. As for the two zombies, they were incinerated into ash by the Hell dog's fiery breath from one of its heads.

Consequently, two of Ye Liuyun's Divine Senses were destroyed, causing a sting in his Sea of Consciousness. Fortunately, it was only two strands, not enough to cause severe backlash.

Then the Skeleton Puppet charged again, still being knocked away by the Hell double‑headed dog. The dog's flames and poisonous smoke could not harm the Skeleton Puppet, as it contained within it Ye Liuyun's Golden Crow Holy Fire, granting it some defense.
