Chapter 82: Summoning Reinforcements
Ye Liuyun's individual killing power is greater than that of five or six people. His feet do not touch the ground, a phantom shadow flashes, Yi Dao down, several streaks of blue light flicker, and several enemies are sliced apart at once. Then he reappears, this time beside enemies in another direction.
Under his lead, the Golden Armor Guard and the garrison are all invigorated, each fighting bravely! In the end, the attacks of these three battalions end faster than the previous time.
As dusk deepens, the barbarian tribe's assault finally ceases.
Songtao and Leader Xu Ran both run over to ask Ye Liuyun, "What's the plan for tonight?"
Ye Liuyun has now become their backbone!
Ye Liuyun says anxiously, "They will definitely come tonight; I've already seen them making arrangements. If we don't give them a taste, their morale will suffer a huge blow! So we should seize the chance to ambush them."
Songtao and Xu Ran both show difficulty: "If we send all our experts out, the city will be in danger!"
Ye Liuyun laughs, "We don't need many; ten first‑class Golden Armor Guard are enough!"
Songtao, surprised, says, "That's too few? How many can we ambush?"
Ye Liuyun smiles and opens his palm toward him. "Do you still remember this?"
Songtao's eyes instantly light up!
Songtao could not possibly not recognize what's in Ye Liuyun's palm.
It's the Thunder Explosion Pill Ye Liuyun used the last time in the Wan Zang Mountains to rescue him from a Formation.
"How many do you still have in hand?" Songtao asks excitedly.
"Over sixty! Enough to blow up several of their squads!" Ye Liuyun laughs. "Find ten people, give each five, and we'll split the rest equally."
Songtao smiles and goes to select people for preparation.
Leader Xu Ran, looking at the pill in Ye Liuyun's hand, asks curiously, "Isn't this a pill? It can still explode people?"
Ye Liuyun laughs, "Just listen for the sounds tonight!"
That night, Ye Liuyun, Songtao and over twenty others slip into the forested area beside the city under cover of darkness, hiding their forms.
Near midnight, indeed more than two hundred Martial Cultivators emerge from Mi Lin toward the city.
With a single arrow sound from Ye Liuyun, the Martial Cultivator at the front is instantly pierced with a huge hole.
Then a continuous "Swoosh swoosh swoosh" erupts. The barbarian Martial Cultivators think it's a hidden weapon and rush to wield True Essence to block.
Unexpectedly, what flies in is a pill, and it bursts upon hitting their true qi.
For a moment, a continuous "Boom boom" resounds. Pill after pill explodes, accompanied by flashes of lightning and thunder and the barbarian Martial Cultivators' wails.
The instant the pills explode together, the whole Mi Lin is illuminated with a bright light.
Immediately, Ye Liuyun and his group rush into the Martial Cultivator crowd, beginning to slay those not blown up. Many, however, have already been numbed by Lightning Strike, leaving them with little resistance.
Ye Liuyun, wielding the Azure Cloud Blade, charges in with a fierce hack, chopping as easily as slicing melon, harvesting the barbarian Martial Cultivators' lives. Black Python and Bald Vulture also seize the chance to devour greedily.
Over two hundred, in a moment, are cut down by just ten people, left with no armor at all!
Then Ye Liuyun's party immediately turns and retreats, lest enemy reinforcements arrive to encircle them.
Suddenly, a long wolf howl echoes from afar. Ye Liuyun halts, pondering.
"Songtao, perhaps I can find some reinforcements!" Ye Liuyun says.
Songtao doesn't understand. In the borderlands, wolf howls are common at night, so he pays no mind.
"Come with me for a while; let the others go back first."
Ye Liuyun says, turning toward the distant mountains. Though Songtao doesn't grasp his intent, he lets the others return and follows Ye Liuyun's steps.
The two leap onto a tree, mount the Bald Vulture, and rush toward the direction of the earlier howl.
Songtao vaguely suspects Ye Liuyun intends to attack the wolf pack, but he doesn't know how.
In a valley of the mountains, there is a pack of over two hundred Moon‑Swallowing Sky Wolves. The alpha wolf is at the True Origin Sevenfold level.
The Moon‑Swallowing Sky Wolves have white‑tinged fur, agile bodies, and extremely keen scent.
The scent of blood from Ye Liuyun's earlier battle was detected from afar, so they are now gathering the pack, preparing to raid for food under cover of night.
When Ye Liuyun arrives, he tells Songtao to hide, then leaps from the Bald Vulture's back, landing with a "Bang" in front of the wolf pack.
Songtao is startled. Many of the Moon‑Swallowing Sky Wolves are of higher level than Ye Liuyun, not to mention their numbers.
The pack is also startled by his sudden appearance, each pair of eyes flashing with ferocity.
Ye Liuyun directly emits Divine Sense, challenging the alpha wolf. He knows that capturing the king captures the thieves. Taming the alpha is equivalent to gaining the whole pack.
In front of so many wolves, he challenges the alpha directly; the alpha won't refuse, lest its authority be questioned. Sure enough, the alpha accepts the duel, and it doesn't even regard a True Origin Triple human as a threat.
The pack automatically clears a space for them, and Ye Liuyun strikes at once.
He uses Purple Lightning Fury instead of the Azure Cloud Blade. He intends to subdue, not kill the alpha.
The Moon‑Swallowing Sky Wolf unleashes its innate divine skill, Moonlight Wave, a sheet of moon‑white light surging toward Ye Liuyun.
They battle in one spot, neither gaining the upper hand. The alpha is startled, not expecting a True Origin Triple human to match it.
Suddenly it changes tactics, the moon‑white light wave turning into five sharp blades that slash at Ye Liuyun.
Ye Liuyun remains calm, throws a punch; five strands of Purple Lightning True Essence meet it, and with a "Boom" the alpha's attack is blocked.
They temporarily separate, sizing each other up.
Ye Liuyun seizes the chance to employ Illusion Eye Technique, trapping the alpha's Soul in a Purple Lightning cage. Yet the alpha, being True Origin Sevenfold, soon struggles free.
Meanwhile, Ye Liuyun has already rushed forward, punching the alpha and sending it flying. However, this punch does not use Lightning power, lest it wound the alpha too severely and affect its future fights.
The pack is utterly shocked; their gazes at Ye Liuyun turn to fear.
Ferocious beasts revere strength; the alpha is the strongest in their eyes. Having defeated the alpha, they naturally deem Ye Liuyun stronger.
The alpha also knows Ye Liuyun spared it, so it ceases further entanglement and uses Divine Sense to ask Ye Liuyun what he intends.
Ye Liuyun immediately states his intention.
In the borderlands, the pack's food is scarce. Ye Liuyun promises them that if they help, after the battle he will deliver three thousand corpses to them, not counting those they eat on site.
He also does not require all to fight; only wolves of True Origin Double level or higher need to join, which won't harm the pack's core.
If the pack agrees, he will now produce some food. He then pulls out collected corpses and throws them onto the ground.
Upon seeing the food, the wolf pack immediately became excited. Moreover, the conditions proposed by Ye Liuyun were very cost-effective. Three thousand corpses were already enough to feed the entire wolf pack for a long time.
At this moment, the alpha wolf had just been defeated, and the wolf pack was again tempted by the food; if it refused, the alpha wolf would have no chance to remain leader. Moreover, the conditions proposed by Ye Liuyun were indeed very tempting.
Furthermore, Ye Liuyun had defeated it but did not take its position or enslave it, so it felt no resentment and actually came to approve of Ye Liuyun.
Thus it not only agreed itself, but also summoned two nearby wolf packs. Ye Liuyun agreed to the same conditions for them.
