Chapter 858: Selecting a Mount

Everyone else go rest, there are no medicinal pills today! The next two days, you won't need to fight either. Rest well, prepare for the test.

Li Qingyun gave a brief order, then took the top three and rushed to Ten Thousand Beasts Valley!

Upon reaching Ten Thousand Beasts Valley, Li Qingyun directly reported the names of Ye Liuyun and the other two to the guarding elder.

Top three trainees, come claim your reward.

The elder finished registering, then instructed them: 'No one may choose only one ferocious beast! The left zone contains tamed ferocious beasts. The right zone, you bear the consequences yourself.'

Having said that, he no longer paid attention to Ye Liuyun and the others, letting them choose on their own.

Li Qingyun led them to the left zone first; inside there were many rare exotic beasts, but they appeared weak in combat.

Chen Feng chose a Zao Hua Third Realm fire fox. This fire fox knows illusion techniques, perfectly compensating for his relatively weak soul.

Ye Liuyun and Ling Shuang were not selected. Both of them wanted to pick a ferocious beast with strong combat ability.

"Chen Feng, wait outside; I'll take the two of them over to choose."

Li Qingyun said, then led Ye Liuyun and Ling Shuang toward the right zone.

After entering, even Li Qingyun proceeded cautiously, not daring to wander recklessly.

Here there are more ferocious beasts, all in a free-range state. If one accidentally strays into a beast king's territory, they might not be able to get out.

"What kind of ferocious beast do you each want?" Li Qingyun asked about their needs.

"I want to pick a flying beast, and a fierce one!" Ling Shuang replied. Her spatial power is relatively weak; choosing a flying beast would help her fly.

"I want to pick a ferocious beast with as high a realm as possible, the higher the better!" Ye Liuyun replied.

"The ferocious beasts here include Zao Hua Ninth Realm ones. The question is, can you subdue them?" Li Qingyun obviously thought Ye Liuyun was being unrealistic.

"Then find a Zao Hua Ninth Realm one! I can subdue it!" Ye Liuyun said without thinking.

Li Qingyun and Ling Shuang both stopped and looked at Ye Liuyun.

"What's wrong?" Ye Liuyun asked, puzzled.

"I'm not necessarily a match for a Zao Hua Ninth Realm ferocious beast, yet you say you can subdue it?" Li Qingyun also grew curious.

"Yes, I have a way!" Ye Liuyun said firmly.

"Alright. I'll take you there. First, let's take care of her flying beast." Li Qingyun said, leading the way with many twists and turns, arriving at a wing dragon habitat.

"There are several Zao Hua Realm wing dragons here, their realm around Zao Hua Fourth-Fifth. I'll go help you catch one; you wait here."

Li Qingyun worried that bringing the two of them in would also require him to look after them, fearing mishaps, so he wanted to go and return quickly.

"Okay." Ye Liuyun and Ling Shuang replied in unison, waiting where they were.

But not long after Li Qingyun left, Ye Liuyun became alert.

"Oh no! We're surrounded by wing dragons!"

Ye Liuyun said, instead of drawing his sword, he took out a magic net.

The silhouettes of the surrounding wing dragons also appeared, each greedily eyeing the two of them as prey.

"What do we do?" Ling Shuang drew her long sword, ready for battle.

"Which one have you picked out?" Ye Liuyun asked Ling Shuang.

"What do you mean?" Ling Shuang didn't understand, still thinking Ye Liuyun was asking her which one to fight.

"I can't beat any of them!" Ling Shuang replied, her voice trembling.

Besieged by some Zao Hua Realm ferocious beasts, Ling Shuang found it hard to calm down for a moment.

Ye Liuyun, helpless, simply helped her pick a Zao Hua Fifth Realm wing dragon.

This wing dragon is in its prime, with a respectable realm; he felt it was the most suitable.

"They're coming!"

Although Ling Shuang was afraid, she didn't think of fleeing alone; instead, she stood back-to-back with Ye Liuyun, preparing for battle.

Suddenly, Ling Shuang felt a powerful aura of an Honored Rank expert erupt from her back.

Ye Liuyun seized the opportunity, releasing the magic net to envelop that Zao Hua Fifth Realm wing dragon.

That Zao Hua Fifth Realm wing dragon was directly ensnared by the magic net, while the other wing dragons were frightened and fled immediately.

Ling Shuang only then turned around and noticed the ghost butterfly beside Ye Liuyun.

"An Honored Rank ghost butterfly?" Ling Shuang also didn't expect Ye Liuyun to have an Honored Rank pet.

The wing dragon bound by the magic net dared not struggle even before the ghost butterfly, lying on the ground trembling.

"Just sign a contract with it directly, don't waste the opportunity!" Ye Liuyun urged Ling Shuang.

"Okay!" Ling Shuang, without ceremony, directly signed a Divine Soul Contract with that wing dragon. Afterwards, Ye Liuyun then put away the ghost butterfly and magic net.

At that moment, Li Qingyun came running back, panting.

"The wing dragons seem to have moved… huh? Why is there one here?" Li Qingyun hadn't finished speaking when he spotted Ling Shuang's mounted wing dragon.

"Young Master Ye helped me subdue it!" Ling Shuang recounted what had just happened.

"Alright!" Li Qingyun instantly felt a deep sense of defeat.

After rushing over earlier, he found the wing dragons' nest had moved, so he immediately hurried back.

"You already have an Honored Rank ghost butterfly; why do you still need other ferocious beasts?" Li Qingyun asked, puzzled.

"The ghost butterfly's soul is strong, but its physical combat power is relatively weak." Ye Liuyun explained.

"Alright then." Li Qingyun no longer curious, explained to Ye Liuyun: "This area has over twenty kinds of Zao Hua Ninth Realm ferocious beasts; see which suits you…"

Li Qingyun began explaining these ferocious beasts one by one.

After listening to Li Qingyun's explanation, Ye Liuyun chose an ice demon tiger. It is a demon beast with an ice attribute, which perfectly complements his fire attribute.

Moreover, only demon beasts can absorb the foreign tribe's primordial pills. Ye Liuyun has ample foreign tribe Honored Rank primordial pills on hand, which can be given to the demon beast for use.

"Demon beasts are even more ferocious than ordinary ferocious beasts; even if you can subdue one, can you force it to sign a Master-Servant Contract?" Li Qingyun reminded Ye Liuyun.

"No problem!" Ye Liuyun confirmed.

All right, let's set off! Ling Shuang, retract your Winged Dragon—it's too conspicuous! Li Qingyun gave the order, then took the lead.

Ling Shuang's Storage Ring could obviously hold living things as well. She stored the Winged Dragon away and followed along.

The forest was fraught with danger; if she didn't come along, we'd have to send her back first, which would waste too much time.

They ran far into the forest, stopping only at a snow mountain on the edge of the Ten Thousand Beasts Valley.

"The Ice Demon Tiger is inside this snow mountain." Li Qingyun asked Ye Liuyun, "Do you need me to lure it out? Are you sure you can subdue it?"

"I'm absolutely certain!" Ye Liuyun said firmly.

"All right then, I'll trust you, kid! If you can't subdue it, I'll turn and run. Then you two will be on your own!"
