Chapter 887: Convergence Point
Soon, Ye Liuyun arrived at the Grand Hall with the ghost butterfly.
Inside the Grand Hall, it was also empty. In the center lay a dry corpse, cross‑legged in the very middle of the Grand Hall.
Ye Liuyun examined the dry corpse with his Golden Pupil, found nothing unusual, and only then boldly stepped inside.
He repeatedly scanned the dry corpse and the Grand Hall with his Golden Pupil, discovering nothing.
"What reason makes those demons dare not enter?" he thought silently.
Then, he repeatedly observed the courtyard, yet found no sign of anything odd. Afterwards he returned to the Grand Hall.
He sat opposite the dry corpse and began to think.
"Usually temples have stone statues! Why is this temple so empty? And why do those demons not dare to come in… Could the dry corpse be more effective than a statue?"
Ye Liuyun eventually concluded the problem lay with the dry corpse, yet he could not uncover any issue.
He tried to move the dry corpse, but found that no matter how much force he applied, the dry corpse remained completely immobile.
"Huh?"
Ye Liuyun then attempted to attack the dry corpse; all his attacks were reflected back, and the reflected force multiplied several times.
This time he saw clearly that, when he attacked, the dry corpse released Buddha Light Power, reflecting his attacks.
Fortunately he only tested lightly; had he struck with full force, the doubled reflected power would have overwhelmed him.
He then tried to communicate with the dry corpse using Divine Sense, but received no response. The dry corpse was indeed not a living being, and contained no Divine Sense.
Ye Liuyun struggled for a while, but there was nothing he could do with the dry corpse.
"What a mute riddle is this?"
Ye Liuyun grew impatient at last. He stopped concerning himself with the dry corpse. Since the demons outside dared not come in, he decided to use the time to recover his strength.
He immediately returned to Xuan Kong Shi and began cultivating.
When all his power had fully recovered, he emerged from Xuan Kong Shi.
The ghost butterfly stayed outside, and noticed nothing unusual.
Ye Liuyun glanced at the dry corpse, feeling a bit bored. "Wait here for me; I'm going over there to take a look!"
Speaking thus, Ye Liuyun released his Divine Sense detection and returned to the other side of the world.
As soon as he returned, the scene before him shocked him.
Opposite him stood a middle‑aged monk, smiling brightly at him. The arrangement here was the same as the temple on the other side.
The only difference was that this monk was alive, whereas the other side had only a dry corpse.
Ye Liuyun quickly stepped back a few paces and bowed respectfully to the monk.
"You are the first destined person to reach here!" the monk said with a smile.
Ye Liuyun examined him closely. Yet when he activated his Golden Pupil, what he saw was the dry corpse.
So he immediately shut off his Golden Pupil.
The monk smiled, "Your Golden Pupil is indeed special! Though it isn't your own power, it shows you have a connection with me."
"What exactly is going on here?" Ye Liuyun asked, seeing the monk bore no hostility.
The monk gestured for him to sit and began to explain:
"Indeed this place contains two worlds! Only those who can see both worlds simultaneously can reach here. You already know that! My position is the convergence point of the two worlds."
"How can two worlds exist at the same time?" Ye Liuyun continued to ask.
The monk replied patiently, "The two worlds are actually the same world, just at different times. This place is the past world; the world you see with your Golden Pupil is the future world! My position is the present."
Ye Liuyun listened, confused. He could only ask further, "Then are you alive, or already dead?"
The monk smiled, raised a finger. From the void emerged a Vajra Giant!
The giant's appearance was identical to the monk's.
"This is my true form. The one before you now is my past self. That dry corpse is my future self!"
After speaking, the monk continued to smile at Ye Liuyun.
Ye Liuyun looked at the Vajra Giant, then at the monk, then activated his Golden Pupil to examine the dry corpse.
Suddenly, the dry corpse, the monk, and the Vajra Giant merged into a Furious‑eyed Vajra, causing Ye Liuyun to recoil several steps.
The Furious‑eyed Vajra spoke, "All these outward forms are me!"
Ye Liuyun understood the remark. "So all these are you! Like multiple bodies merged together?"
After Ye Liuyun finished speaking, the trinity Furious‑eyed Vajra vanished.
The monk before him remained, still kindly smiling and nodding. "You may understand it that way!"
Ye Liuyun thought, since the past you and the present you can merge, could the past world and the present world also be merged?
The monk smiled and nodded. "If you master the power of time, you can fuse the two worlds together!"
"The power of time?" Ye Liuyun knew the term, thought it similar to spatial power, but had never heard anyone wield it nor how to cultivate it.
"You will know in time!" This time the monk gave no further explanation.
Ye Liuyun ceased further questioning. Time's power seemed far more complex than spatial power.
He hadn't yet grasped spatial power, so he decided to proceed step by step.
The monk said again, "Since you could reach here, I will give you something that may help you better understand the power of time!"
Speaking, the monk produced a bone tile from his bosom, carefully threaded it with a string, and then handed it to Ye Liuyun.
Wear this; at a crucial moment it will take effect.
"A crucial moment? What effect?" Ye Liuyun asked curiously, taking it, feeling the monk meant no harm, and hung the bone tile around his neck before slipping it into his clothing.
"Critical moment? What purpose?" Ye Liuyun curiously took it, thought the monk didn't seem to want to harm him, so he hung the bone tile around his neck and then slipped it into his clothing.
"Inside that dry corpse lies a great amount of Buddha Light Power; you have already absorbed it, haven't you?" the monk said to him.
"Inside that desiccated corpse, there is a large amount of Buddha Light Power—you also have absorbed it all, right!" the monk said to him.
"How do I absorb it? After absorbing, will that temple not be breached by those demons?" Ye Liuyun asked a series of questions.
That monk, however, smiled and said: "Just like absorbing energy, you can absorb it. Other questions, you will know when the time comes!"
"Are you Vajra? What realm are you? Does the power of time you just mentioned have a cultivation method?" Ye Liuyun raised several more questions.
