Chapter 985: Excess of Yin Souls

Ye Liuyun and the others continued forward cautiously.

After walking only a few hundred zhang, they encountered another interception of poisonous creatures.

The interceptions grew increasingly frequent on the road ahead, making progress impossible for them.

"There are far too many poisonous creatures here!" Yuan Datou exclaimed from behind.

He and Ling Shuang could no longer help at all, and could only watch from the side.

Li Qingyun had now joined them. Without Qiong Qi's Formation, he too could make no headway here.

Finally, Ye Liuyun's Divine Sense discovered an underground cave!

Ye Liuyun immediately described the cave's scene to Qiong Qi.

"It could very well be here. But do you intend to let the academy know about this?" Qiong Qi asked Ye Liuyun via Transmission Voice.

Qiong Qi was referring to Li Qingyun.

"If I can't get in this time and can't obtain resources, letting the academy know doesn't matter," Ye Liuyun said confidently.

"Alright, then let's go!" Qiong Qi agreed.

If both he and Ye Liuyun fail to secure it this time, they might as well give the chance to others.

As they advanced slowly, Li Qingyun's Divine Sense finally also detected the underground cave.

"Is this the Ten Thousand Poison Cave?"

He had never seen what the Ten Thousand Poison Cave looked like before, and asked Ye Liuyun.

"Unclear; we won't know until we go in!" Ye Liuyun replied, also uncertain.

He tried to locate a few poisonous creatures' Souls, but regardless of the name Ten Thousand Poison Cave, they only knew it was their nest, teeming with poisonous creatures.

They weren't even sure how many poisonous creatures were inside, nor what resources were present.

However, when they reached the cave entrance and saw a stone tablet half‑buried in yellow sand, they confirmed this was the Ten Thousand Poison Cave.

Li Qingyun immediately produced a Transmission Talisman and reported the location to the academy.

At that moment, the poisonous creatures inside the cave began pouring out, rushing toward them.

Poisonous creatures of various sizes covered the ground, densely packed, making Ling Shuang break out in goosebumps.

"Hundred-Refined Soul Banner. What are you waiting for!" Qiong Qi, finally unable to hold back, urged Ye Liuyun to use the Hundred-Refined Soul Banner.

Ye Liuyun did not hesitate, brandished a Soul Banner, and all the Yin Souls were released at once, charging toward the poisonous creatures.

At the cave entrance, Yin Souls howled, poison gas spread, True Essence erupted, yellow sand flew, killing the heavens and earth.

Ye Liuyun and the others were pushed back slightly by the shock.

Qiong Qi used a Formation to block all the residual attacks.

The clash of tens of thousands of Yin Souls with poisonous insects unfolded before everyone, startling them to the core.

Fortunately, these poisonous creatures are not adept at wielding weapons or treasures, otherwise Ye Liuyun's Yin Souls could not exert their full effect.

While brandishing the Soul Banner to absorb the poisonous creatures' Yin Souls, Ye Liuyun covertly instructed Xiu Luo to also scout the cave's interior.

The Yin Soul army surged and roared into the cave, the shouts of battle fading into the distance.

The cave entrance gradually fell silent.

When the smoke cleared, everyone saw the ground covered with poisonous insect corpses.

Ye Liuyun released a Skeleton Puppet to collect the corpses.

Ye Liuyun and the others stepped on the insect corpses to enter the cave.

The Yin Soul army had already penetrated deep into the cave to fight the poisonous creatures.

From the sounds, the cave seemed to be an enormous space.

When Ye Liuyun and the others followed the cave's slope to its bottom, they couldn't help but be shocked.

It was not only huge, but like a small world itself, an endless underground realm that Ye Liuyun's Golden Pupil could not see to the end.

Moreover, there were many structures inside, most of them dilapidated, with few remaining intact.

It seemed humans had once lived there, but the poisonous insects had occupied it for a long time.

"Goodness! How many poisonous creatures must be here!" Yuan Datou exclaimed upon seeing it.

At the same time, Ye Liuyun received a message from Xiu Luo: poisonous snakes, scorpions, centipedes and various armored insects and toxins were entrenched here in great numbers, and many were of the Zao Hua Realm.

They had not finished clearing the area and had not found any valuable treasures, only poisonous creatures everywhere.

"No rush. You all focus on your tasks!"

Ye Liuyun immediately kept brandishing the Soul Banner, recruiting Yin Souls.

Because the number of poisonous insect Yin Souls was too great, he now only absorbed Yin Souls above the Zao Hua Realm.

The Yin Souls below the Zao Hua Realm that he had previously absorbed were released, allowing them to roam the underground world.

The Soul Banner's capacity is limited; he plans to load more high‑level ones. As for low‑level ones, he has no time to cultivate them slowly.

Ye Liuyun and the others wandered the underground world aimlessly, finding no clues.

It wasn't until Xiu Luo sent Ye Liuyun a message: "Behind a building there is an Altar, kept very intact, somewhat suspicious."

However, the Yin Souls of that Altar could not be opened, preventing investigation of its interior.

"Let's go!"

Ye Liuyun replied to Xiu Luo and led the group toward those buildings.

Their Divine Senses swept the area and found piles upon piles of poisonous snakes, scorpions and other toxin corpses, countless in number.

Qiong Qi, upon seeing this, clicked his tongue: "Good you have these Yin Souls; otherwise my Formation couldn't withstand so many poisonous attacks!"

Ye Liuyun hadn't expected there to be so many poisonous creatures here!

His Hundred-Refined Soul Banner kept absorbing Yin Souls, and the Zao Hua Realm poisonous creature Yin Souls had already filled over thirty thousand slots.

"Collect them for now; we'll refine them later!"

Ye Liuyun now also has no way; the number of Yin Souls is really too many.

His main goal right now is still to rush to the altar and check the situation.

The Yin Souls thoroughly eliminated those poisonous things; on the way they encountered no living beings and thus arrived at the altar.

At this moment the Yin Soul army has already dispersed, searching everywhere for living things to do a final cleanup.

After Ye Liuyun and the others arrived at the altar, they indeed found the altar well preserved, with no traces of poisonous things having approached nearby.

Ye Liuyun and the others walked around the altar once, also didn't find any mechanism, so they directly let Qiong Qi study it.

"Seal!"

After Qiong Qi researched for a while, he came to this conclusion.

"Do you know what's sealed inside? Can it be opened?" Ye Liuyun feared that something powerful might be sealed inside.

"I can't tell what's sealed inside right now. But after I break this seal, I can set up another seal to keep whatever's inside from getting out.

I need a few days! This seal's setup is also quite thorough!"

After Qiong Qi explained things to Ye Liuyun, he sat cross-legged in front of the altar and began to focus on breaking this seal.
