Chapter 27: Balance

~7 min read 1,258 words

"Aren't you afraid my blood will corrupt you?" Chumen pressed one hand against Lilith, who was about to pounce; she seemed unable to suppress her blood-sucking instincts any longer.

Of course, it was more likely she was deliberately putting on a show for Chumen.

"Corrupt?" Lilith revealed two fangs, her eyes still blood-red, "There are no impurities in your blood."

"There's another possibility: my blood itself is a kind of impurity, just excessively pure," Chumen joked to himself.

His blood was highly problematic; it might already be close to a Source Quality.

Who would dare eat a Source Quality raw?

"That is also harmless," Lilith insisted, "To my sense of smell, your blood is like a human's, like an Elf's, and even like a Giant's or a Blood Clan's."

"But my Spirituality tells me it is harmless," Lilith did not hide her craving in the slightest.

"But the look in your eyes makes me feel very bad," Chumen said, his expression darkening slightly, and the atmosphere between the two underwent a subtle change.

This kind of look—the Goddess had it when she first saw him, and Lilith had it too; the feeling of being treated like the Mysterious Tang Monk was truly unpleasant!

To avoid such a situation, he had even created a Dream Council.

The Dream Council was established because of this trait of his; everyone could obtain this benefit, but no one could enjoy it exclusively.

This was the Balance Chumen had constructed.

"... Sorry!" The red light in Lilith's eyes dimmed; seeing Chumen's gloomy expression, she finally restrained herself.

For an Ancient God of the past to bow her head and admit a mistake was already an unprecedented event.

Chumen's expression softened slightly.

He glanced at the genuine red at the bottom of Lilith's eyes, hesitated for a moment, and took a goblet directly from the Fog of History; with a light tap of his finger, it was filled with a blood-red liquid.

"Drink this," he handed the cup to Lilith.

"What is this?" Lilith looked at the liquid in the cup and couldn't help but ask.

"Blood as I understand it," Chumen explained.

Setting aside whether it tasted good or not, this thing, like the wine given to Sasriel, was manifested from Dream Phosphor and possessed a unique Characteristic.

"Gulp!" Lilith drank it in one go, the red in her eyes quietly fading until they returned to normal.

"One more cup!"

"No," Chumen refused, casually finding an excuse, "Maintain your desire, and your humanity will sprout from it..."

Chumen brought Lilith to the Sun Kingdom, that territory which belonged to him.

He hadn't forgotten those believers of the Golden Kingdom.

These tens of thousands of believers had already been received by the Sun God's followers, unified and arranged to become lambs under the rule of the Dream Angel.

Such matters were handled by designated personnel within the Sun Kingdom; there was no need for Chumen to even inquire. Under the great power of the God, they would quietly change their faith and become believers who worshipped Dream.

"My believers?" Chumen's expression was somewhat strange; this was the first time he had believers who explicitly worshipped him and took him as their highest sustenance. It was completely different from being a Pope or an Angel; there was no such barrier.

Chumen thought for a moment and responded to these Anchor points of believers directed at him.

In that instant, a pure, brilliant rainbow light suddenly bloomed in the sky, attracting the gaze of everyone in this territory.

In a trance, the faith in their hearts, which had been distorted from the image of the Giant King, gained a sense of reality.

They subconsciously prayed, chanting the honorific name engraved in their hearts.

"True Spirit;

The Pure One;

Traveler of Time and Space;

Angel of Dream."

"I pray for your gaze, I pray for your descent."

This was the Angel honorific name Chumen had written for himself; its directionality was exceptionally clear, and as the believers chanted, countless voices echoed in his mind.

For a time, the Dream Book floated up, shedding the cover Chumen used for disguise to reveal its brilliant, dreamlike book cover.

Dream Phosphor rained down, drifting into the believers' bodies, giving them a mental boost; the spiritual bodies that had been damaged during the Destruction Demon Wolf's plan were completely repaired.

"Thanks to the Lord's favor!" Tens of thousands of believers bowed, surging like a tide.

"This... one's own believers are indeed much better than the ones you mooch off of." Even the Dream Book could sense it; this was already quite remarkable.

Holding the Dream Book, Chumen appeared amidst the rainbow light filling the sky; he even deliberately manifested twelve pure white wings behind him, maxing out his Godhood.

Currently, the worship was still primarily focused on the God Statue; this would be the sole faith of this territory of his.

Chumen reached out and tapped; endless Dream Phosphor fell, transforming into a Dream Statue dozens of meters high, pure white as jade, which was his current image.

"First Commandment: Do not take my name in vain."

"Second Commandment: You shall have no other gods."

"Third Commandment: Love your kin as you love me."

"Fourth Commandment: Do not commit adultery, rape, or plunder."

"Fifth Commandment: Do not kill the innocent."

"Sixth Commandment: Serve me with your heart, not with sacrifices."

"..."

"My believers shall be under the favor of Dream."

Chumen flipped the Dream Book to the "Illusion Dream" page, and a mysterious power attached itself to the statue.

"Weave an Illusion Dream? Or should I let them do it themselves?" Chumen had even created a God's Amusement Park similar to the Dream Kingdom, but in the end, he left the decision to the believers.

Truly devout believers would be given a choice: to freely weave a beautiful dream or to enter God's Paradise.

And after the beautiful dream, they would obtain true tranquility, including but not limited to their minds and Beyonder Characteristics.

Theoretically, believers of Dream would not lose control before becoming Demigods, and after becoming Demigods, they could also obtain the tranquility of a beautiful dream.

"Perhaps in a few hundred or thousands of years, Dream will become a Hidden organization?" Chumen was also very much looking forward to the future.

"I have made arrangements here; you may well stay here. It will not intersect with the information of the Spirit World, and this place should be very suitable for your acting."

For Lilith, having regressed to the Vampire stage, the most important thing is naturally to seek humanity; apart from that, it is likely the Acting Method.

"Good!" Lilith nodded gently, looking at the towering Statue and the tens of thousands of believers worshipping beneath it, "Do I need to believe in you?"

"Believe in me?" Chumen was stunned.

"Belief is also a kind of humanity," Lilith said seriously; she wanted to understand humanity through similar behaviors.

"It is difficult," Chumen said bluntly, "If your mindset cannot adjust from the status of an Ancient God to your current Vampire status, your gaze will always be looking down, and you will be unable to understand true humanity."

"It is the Blood Clan!" Lilith emphasized, but Chumen's words also made her frown in deep thought.

"Take your time, you still have a long time." Only when the Ancient Sun God takes action against the Giant King will the arrangements made by the Goddess and himself be able to take effect.

"Good." Lilith quieted down, watching those devout believers in silence.
