Chapter 39: Natural Disaster
Having seen a war in a prophecy and analyzed it, Chumen was no longer prepared to stay in the Giant King's Court.
"Hermes, let's go." Chumen directly called for Hermes to walk out of that tall Giant Palace, "Our people need us."
Hermes nodded silently, following Chumen as he stepped out of the palace.
"Where are you going?" As they were about to walk out of the Giant King's Court, Badehaier's voice came from behind.
"Cooperation is feasible; I believe we can maintain a certain tacit understanding." Chumen looked at Badehaier, implying something.
"But right now, many people or gods do not wish for our cooperation to pose a threat to them, so they have taken countermeasures."
"Let's resolve the trouble at hand first."
"..." Badehaier watched silently as Chumen walked out of the Giant King's Court and directly "Roamed" away.
Oumibeila was not here, and the Giant King had also rushed to another direction of the Giant King's Court.
There, an illusory Underworld Gate opened out of thin air, wreathed in pale flames, with endless undead surging within, and a massive city vaguely visible.
And in the deepest darkness and death at the center of the city, there was a pair of bronze-colored eyes hiding layers upon layers of illusory doors.
The Phoenix Ancestor Grejary!
However, she also did not trust the Elf, so she merely watched without taking action; she held part of the "Door" Pathway Authority, and when it came to mobility, few Ancient Gods could do anything to her.
Thus, her mere presence formed a massive deterrent to the Giant Race.
Ormir and Oumibeila were both held here by a door from Grejary.
And outside a certain coastal city-state, Chumen and Hermes stepped out from the void.
This was also a city-state ruled by the faith of the Creator, located at the border between the Sun God's forces and the Elf race's forces.
"Does this place seem to have maritime trade with the Elf race?" Chumen saw many merchant ships on the sea, carrying coral and gems from the Elf race.
"What a pity." The foundation of this world was madness and chaos; the struggle between Sequences had been set from the very beginning.
The Ancient Sun God would sooner or later take action against the Elf King; that would be a war between two races.
"Do you need me to gather the Beyonders of the various city-states?" Hermes asked.
"No need, that is a war between Angels," Chumen refused.
"..." Hermes was silent for a moment, then said firmly, "But we must be allowed to do something."
"Go organize the people to hide in the Ritual Square in the center of the city!" Chumen twitched the corner of his mouth, feeling somewhat helpless; Hermes's personality was actually quite good, it was just that he was too rigid and serious in this regard.
"Yes!" Hermes walked into the city, and an invisible force swept out; a voice appeared in everyone's heart.
"Leave this place, a natural disaster will descend here." Hermes "persuaded" everyone with ease.
Chumen came to a large rock outside the city-state and sat down, preparing to welcome the terrifying Tsunami from the prophecy.
That was a true natural disaster; he could certainly protect himself and block his opponents, but he could not guarantee he could stop every single wave, which might result in many people dying.
"Why are you here?" Chumen suddenly saw a small head poking out from under a rock.
"..." The head shrank back in immediately.
"I saw you." Chumen glanced at the seawater, which had not yet begun to surge, and smiled as he looked at the small figure hiding behind the rock.
"Come out, it's dangerous here, hurry and go into the city." Chumen even used Pacify to make that figure walk out from behind the rock.
A thin, small figure, one could even say skin and bones, walked out from behind the rock, wearing tattered linen cloth haphazardly, hair dampened by water vapor and stuck to the face.
The age was not small, just lacking nutrition, to the point of being overly frail.
"You..." Chumen frowned slightly; he pointed a finger, and Dream Phosphor descended, instantly replacing the tattered clothes on the boy, turning them into a Dark Robe.
The almost Creation-like method frightened the boy, leaving him stunned, staring blankly at Chumen.
"Come, have this." Chumen materialized a Cake and handed it over.
He had once spread many things beyond this era in the Dream Territory, including the cooking methods for many foods.
Of course, this thing could count as "aristocratic" food; the boy had likely never encountered it.
The boy came back to his senses under the temptation of food, staring tightly at Chumen's Cake, yet not daring to approach.
"Take it." Chumen's attitude became increasingly gentle.
"..." In the end, it was Chumen who stuffed the Cake into the boy's hands.
Ultimately, the temptation of food overcame his vigilance; the boy took a bite of the Cake, as if his soul had been sublimated, not even daring to take a second bite, regretting having ruined this perfect Creation.
"Where are your parents? Where is your home?" Chumen watched as the boy's vigilance was dismantled by the Cake and took the opportunity to ask; he needed to send this boy away.
"Drowned at sea." The boy looked up at Chumen and carefully took a second bite.
"..." Chumen was silent and stopped asking, instead moving his fingers to perform a divination on the boy, and he quickly obtained the answer.
"Parents drowned, sister died falling while fishing at the risk of her life..."
"Home was robbed, and he was driven out as a jinx, not allowed to enter the city..."
There were always people for whom living was not easy, especially in this era ruled by Ancient Gods.
The Dream Territory was unique even within the Creator Kingdom.
Chumen sighed softly and was just about to send the boy away, when suddenly he looked at the churning seawater beneath the boy's feet.
It seemed higher than just a moment ago, from covering the tops of the feet to now covering the ankles.
The rise and fall of the seawater here reflected that there was great movement at the far end of the sea.
His expression turned serious; he placed a hand on the boy's shoulder and directly teleported him to Hermes's side.
As for himself, he faced the vast and boundless ocean.
"It's here." Not long after, all the seawater rolled backward, pulled to a further distance by some kind of power.
And the sea surface was already covered in black clouds, thick electric snakes rolling within, and the gale lifted Chumen's robe.
Storm, Tsunami, and even earthquakes were about to descend; this was the "natural disaster."
Behind Chumen, the twelve wings of the Dream Angel suddenly unfolded; in this instant, the Angel wings grew against the wind, expanding to a certain degree, slowly sheltering the entire city-state behind him under his wings.
Dream Phosphor enveloped the entire city, leaving those ordinary people—who in their entire lives could only see or hear of the existence of miracles in the Scripture and from the mouths of missionaries—shocked.
"The Creator is above!" Many believers knelt directly on the ground, praying to the Creator, praying to the Dream Angel.
The sound of pious prayers echoed in the Ritual Square, gradually becoming a tide.
In the face of miracles and Disaster, people always become unusually pious.
