Chapter 431: Ice Cream

Audrey Hall went out very early today; as a director of the Association for the Protection of the Rights of Women and Children, she very much enjoyed this feeling of helping others.

About every few days, she would visit the Dream Church to deliver necessary living support to women and children who had fallen into hardship for various reasons.

"The legal reforms led by the Augustus Family are not entirely without merit; at the very least, those laws based on the 'Survival Act' are still quite useful."

Audrey lifted the curtain of the carriage and glanced outside; the East District was already much better now than it had been half a year ago.

"This is probably what Mr. 'World' wanted to see..." Audrey soon arrived outside the Dream Church, lifted her skirt, stepped out of the carriage with elegant poise, and was about to walk into the church.

Just at this moment, a strange intuition made her stop in her tracks and look toward a corner beside the church.

Under a landscape tree, there was a small, modest-looking food cart with pictures of various ice creams in a childlike style on it.

"Ice cream sold on the street?" Audrey Hall, this noble young lady, was slightly startled, understanding what this was, but she had never seen such a thing before.

"Is this edible?" Such a thought flashed through her mind.

"Sir! Mr. 'Ice Cream'! Give me a 'Blue Wish'!" A child with patches on his clothes came over holding a penny.

He clutched the money in his hand nervously, looking longingly at the blue ice cream in the picture; "Blue Wish" was its name.

"Coming right up!" This Mr. "Ice Cream" accepted the penny, took a blue ice cream from the modified food cart, and handed it to the child.

The child received the blue ice cream, a flush of excitement and happiness appearing on his face; he couldn't wait to take a lick, then closed his eyes, enjoying the most beautiful taste in the world.

"Eat it quickly, or it will melt," Mr. "Ice Cream" gently reminded him.

"Thank you, sir!" The child carefully protected the ice cream and walked to a corner to enjoy it.

"If even a child like this can take out a copper penny to eat an ice cream, then the lives of the people in the East District have already seen significant improvement..." Audrey subconsciously entered the "Spectator" state.

"However..." Audrey walked toward the modified ice cream cart with Susie.

She had never bought such a thing, nor had she ever eaten food sold on the street.

But under the guidance of her Spirituality, she walked over; to avoid issues with "noble etiquette," she even used a little "Hypnosis" to make her maid ignore her actions.

"This Mr. 'Ice Cream'?" Audrey felt a bit strange, but the cart seemed very clean, which made her inner repulsion diminish significantly.

"Hmm?" Mr. "Ice Cream" raised his head to look directly at this noble lady.

"Could you give me two ice creams?" Audrey looked at the various ice creams in the picture with her jewel-like eyes, and to her surprise, she felt an unconscious desire to taste them.

"Which kind would you like?" Mr. "Ice Cream"'s tone remained unchanged, still gentle.

Only, there was a hint of a smile on his face as he looked at Audrey.

"The most expensive one, 'Rainbow'." Audrey chose the one-sol "Rainbow".

The owner took two "Rainbow" ice creams from the cart and handed them to Audrey.

Audrey took two sols from the small bag on Susie's back, placed them on the cart, and politely accepted the two "Rainbow" ice creams.

"May the Dream protect you," Mr. "Ice Cream" wished sincerely.

"May the Dream protect you," Audrey thanked Mr. "Ice Cream" and returned to the carriage with the "Rainbows".

Susie also squeezed into the carriage, looking at the ice cream in Audrey's hand with curiosity and longing.

"Audrey, I really want to eat this!"

Susie rolled around and acted spoiled in front of Audrey; such behavior had been rare since it became an Extraordinary Creature.

"A bit strange." Audrey, however, had calmed down; she gave herself and Susie a "Pacify" and looked calmly at the two "ice creams" in her hands.

"That man just now and this ice cream are both problematic." Audrey recalled what she had observed.

"I feel like I know him..." Audrey always felt a sense of familiarity.

"It's Saint John!" Susie remembered that familiar feeling earlier than Audrey, "He didn't hide it at all; instead, he revealed certain information to us."

Susie had also met John Constantine before.

"Mr. 'World'!?" Audrey also realized, "How could he..."

"I don't care, I don't care, I want to eat this!" Susie acted spoiled again.

"Why?" Audrey asked curiously; Susie's behavior was clearly abnormal.

"I feel like it tastes very good!" Susie stared at the "Rainbow" ice cream in Audrey's hand.

It was truly beautiful, having seven colors like a rainbow, and then dotted with beautiful, jewel-like ice crystals; its presentation was excellent.

"I also..." Audrey felt a certain longing rising from the bottom of her heart.

"Mr. 'World' probably wouldn't harm me; I am his Psychiatrist, after all..." Audrey handed one of the "Rainbow" ice creams to Susie.

Susie couldn't wait to lick it with its tongue, and then its whole body seemed to tremble, its eyes squinting as if intoxicated by the deliciousness.

"That exaggerated?" Susie's performance surprised Audrey.

"..." Audrey looked at the other ice cream in her hand, and based on her trust in Mr. "Fool" and Mr. "World", she stuck out her tongue and licked it lightly.

Hum!

It was as if some strange power exploded on the tip of her tongue; while bringing her unimaginable taste satisfaction, there was another kind of wonderful feeling.

Audrey felt as if she were experiencing the same sense of dreaminess she had felt the first time she landed in the Phantom Realm.

Then, what followed was that the coldness and madness she had been suppressing in her body all this time faded away at this moment.

Audrey felt a long-lost tranquility; there was no need to worry about losing control, no need to constantly pay attention to her mental state...

"Mmm..." Audrey couldn't help but let out a soft moan, her mind and body both rejoicing.

"This is..." Audrey's face was flushed red, and she keenly felt that her mental state was better than ever before.

Then she thought of something, "Is this the power of Dream? It really is as intoxicating as the legends say..."

"Audrey, it's going to melt!" Susie cried out, waking Audrey up.

"It really is ice cream? And it will melt..." Audrey stopped thinking about these questions; she and Susie each took one and quickly finished the "Rainbow" ice creams.

"Audrey..." Susie suddenly covered its eyes with its paws, appearing somewhat shy, "I want more!"

Audrey blinked; she also wanted to eat another one!
