Chapter 65: Disaster

~7 min read 1,246 words

This series of attacks from Bethel is difficult for any Demigod to endure; the attacks are too frequent and too intense in such a short time.

Even the few powerful attacks at the Sequence 3 level mixed within them pose enough of a threat to a Sequence 3.

Yet in Bethel's eyes, the Witch located within the space has performed several Mirror Substitutes or Wand Substitutes to avoid injury, or has frozen herself in solid ice to resist the various attacks.

But these also have their limits; once the various accumulations on the Witch are exhausted, her fate can be imagined.

Bethel intends to capture the Witch first and bring her back to the Dream Territory for judgment.

But alas, worldly affairs are ever-changing...

Boom!

A bolt of thunder explodes in everyone's hearts; at the edge of the battlefield, Bethel and the Witch both stiffen, unable to move.

The attacks from those Demigods and even the Sequence 3s are also frozen, including that Space Concealment.

Under this bolt of thunder, the two of them are as weak and indistinguishable from ordinary people.

Bethel and the Witch both subconsciously look up toward the manifested Astral World.

The war within that Astral World has already been decided; the Elf King's body has completely collapsed, and countless Characteristics are splashing in all directions, falling into every corner of the world.

No one dares to snatch them, but as Bethel watches those flashing streams of light, his expression quickly turns grave.

A huge "Meteor" is shooting toward the edge of the battlefield where he is located!

"Beyonder Characteristic convergence?" Bethel frowns slightly; he feels no unusual sensation. "It is not aimed at me."

"It is the Witch!" Bethel's peripheral vision catches the Witch who was just fighting him; the Witch's charming eyes are staring fixedly at that mass of lightning, as if wanting to rush forward.

Stop it! Bethel reaches out, intending to carve out a space crack to guide that snake of electricity into the Spirit World.

But just as he makes his move, he feels an incomparable sense of crisis; the "Astrologer" ability allows him to see the scene of himself being struck by the "Meteor"!

"Travel"!

Bethel's expression is solemn; he must completely distance himself from that "Meteor" immediately.

Everything around is becoming conceptual; Reality is like a fading oil painting, the ink gradually losing its color, and Bethel has already seen the bizarre and motley Spirit World.

But "Travel" has failed.

That "Meteor" has already caused immense pressure on the surrounding Spirit World just by approaching, causing the difficulty of "Open Door" to rise sharply.

"Don't go, okay?" The Witch's charming voice, which even makes Bethel feel a sense of dread, reaches him, and a feeling of restraint appears at Bethel's feet.

It is a complex and mysterious spider web extending to Bethel's feet, within which black flames ignite, scorching Bethel's spirit and preventing him from successfully "Open Door" to travel.

Bethel's expression changes drastically; in just an instant, that "Meteor" falls into the hands of the Witch opposite him.

The lightning gradually recedes, revealing the appearance of the Characteristic within; it is a dark and profound mirror, inside which seem to be hidden countless things and spaces.

Bethel's Eye of Mystery, which he did not have time to close, receives some information from the mirror.

Boom!

Floods and tsunamis drown his consciousness in an instant; a terrifying earthquake strikes, the ground beneath his feet shatters directly, and he is about to fall into the endless Abyss.

Hum!

Dream Phosphor erupts, pulling Bethel directly out of the disaster environment.

"It is a High-sequence Characteristic of the Witch Pathway!" Bethel recalls what his teacher said; high-sequence Witches also possess the Authority of Disaster!

This has a certain degree of compatibility with the "Natural Disaster" of the Storm Pathway that the Elves possess!

Perhaps the Elf King also consumed "Disaster" when he was recklessly eating Characteristics!

This is bad! Bethel's mood becomes heavy.

The Witch's eyes are filled with joy; this piece of Characteristic can allow her to become an Angel!

"Do you know? Everything you possess right now should be mine!"

The Witch holds that dark mirror, turning the mirror surface toward Bethel, slowing his movements and preventing him from successfully jumping into the Spirit World.

This mirror attacks everyone within its range indiscriminately, but the Witch of the same Sequence has better resistance and has completely seized the initiative.

"If I had become His Apprentice, I wouldn't have had to drink that damned 'Witch' Potion!" Cheek's expression gradually twists; holding that dark mirror, she is also moving toward a state of loss of control.

"'Witch'? Why specifically mention this Sequence 7?"

Although his body is restricted, Bethel's consciousness is unaffected; looking at Cheek's twisted face, he gradually realizes something.

Even in such a dangerous situation, Bethel still asks a question.

"You were a man before? And now you have become a Witch?!"

Bethel does not quite understand, but he is indeed greatly shocked.

It is not that he has never seen Witches in the Creator Kingdom, but those Witches all had complete inheritance of mysterious knowledge and knew the hidden laws of this Pathway before choosing it.

And the acting of a Witch...

Gulp! Recalling certain special acting requirements for the Witch Sequence, Bethel's Adam's apple rolls; even his "Secret Keeper" cannot guard his own mind.

If that is really the case...

"Truly a crazy world." This is something Bethel often heard from his teacher's mouth.

At this very moment, he seems to have gained a little bit of insight.

"Ah!" This sentence from Bethel makes Cheek scream in pain, her scream filled with a sense of Despair.

It is unknown how much is due to this dark mirror, and how much is due to Bethel's gaze.

Her hair seems to be turning into venomous snakes, flicking their tongues and looking at Bethel coldly.

Bethel reveals a hint of pity, which is quite inappropriate for the situation.

And this hint of pity is caught by Cheek, making her even more insane.

"You deserve to die!"

Perhaps some emotions in Cheek's heart perfectly match certain traits of the Witch Pathway, as the influence of the dark mirror in her hand is weakened by a few points for her.

At the same time, Bethel's situation becomes even more dangerous; an invisible force acts upon him, and his skin has already begun to petrify.

"Roaming!" Bethel exhaled softly, and then an ability recorded in an illusory book appeared in his eyes.

It was recorded for him personally by his teacher; although it was a Sequence 3 skill, it came from an Angel-level Traveler!

The suppression of the Mirror's status vanished instantly, and Bethel's body disappeared directly, jumping through the Astral World to move far away from this battlefield.

"Ah!" Cheek shrieked, but she dared not linger here for long; the trace of that lightning snake just now was far too obvious.

Her body turned invisible directly in the air, and she found a puddle that could serve as a Mirror, jumping straight into the mirror world to quickly move away.

Afterward, human Beyonders also came to search, but they did not find any traces.

However, Bethel's final "Roaming" triggered the sensing of the Ancient One's Glove on Chumen's hand.

"Encountered danger?" Chumen paused his footsteps, slowly shook his head, continued to tour the dilapidated Elf Divine Kingdom, and reached out to pick up one or two Demigod-level Magical Items.
