Chapter 97: Chaos

~7 min read 1,206 words

"Teacher, isn't preaching like this standard behavior for an Evil God?"

An avatar of Amon transformed into an animal somewhat resembling a crow and landed on Chumen's shoulder.

"An Evil God is an Evil God; your father was also called an Evil God by those Extraordinary races back in the Second Epoch, and I am His Angel," Chumen teased. In the world of Mysteries, who hasn't taken that step toward becoming an Evil God?

The smile at the corner of Amon's mouth gradually faded. "Hmph, I discovered a ruin with what appears to be the lingering aura of an Outer God."

"An Outer God?!" Chumen instantly perked up; the Fate Church here had almost been fleeced bare.

The systems of the two Outer Gods, "Circle of Inevitability" and "Mother Tree of Desire," were not enough; he needed more!

Chumen glanced over, extracted the information he wanted from Amon's heart, and directly Roamed with Amon to the designated location.

Amon could not hide his inner thoughts in front of a Visionary.

"You!" Amon's eyes widened slightly, but he could not afford to lose his temper and had to maintain his elegance. "Even Adam wouldn't do this to you..."

"That is why you call me Teacher, instead of Brother."

Chumen replied indifferently, looking up at the massive pyramid before him.

On a vast desert, a giant pyramid stood proudly, surrounded by weathered cities; this was a no-man's-land.

"Whoa!" Chumen raised an eyebrow slightly, sensing a somewhat familiar aura from within.

"It looks like the Black Emperor Crown? No, given this structure, it is directly the mausoleum of the Black Emperor!"

Chumen saw a distorted aesthetic and a harsh order in this pyramid mausoleum, and even a sense of chaos.

"It's a pity I didn't bring the treasury..." He didn't know how many years he would stay in this Starry Sky, so he hadn't brought the Creator's treasury; neither the "Black Emperor Crown" nor the "Brass Book" were on him.

The rules he had previously set against Amon were also replicated by the "Myriad Phenomena" Authority and did not belong to the true Unique Authority.

"This mausoleum has been abandoned for at least three thousand years." Amon had already quickly adjusted his state and introduced the pyramid mausoleum to Chumen.

"According to known information, this is the lost ancient history of this planet, the traces left behind by the previous civilization."

"About three thousand years ago in our planet's time, the previous civilization here collapsed at an inconceivable speed; their brilliant civilizational achievements seemed to crumble in an instant."

Chumen walked closer to the massive pyramid mausoleum; the lingering, distorted aura combined with the three-thousand-year timeline made him think of many things.

"Three thousand years ago was likely the First Epoch, and the only event in the First Epoch related to order and chaos is probably that one..."

Chumen's expression was somewhat strange.

"You really do know something!" Amon gently pushed up his Monocle and revealed a smile.

How could He have specifically told Chumen about this place? It was because He had a severe lack of certain knowledge and had to drag this "Teacher" along.

Chumen, for the sake of this pyramid, decided to enlighten Amon.

"The Characteristics of the two Pathways of order came from the Starry Sky and were attracted to our world by the Original who created the universe." Chumen's first sentence made Amon's gaze slightly solemn.

"They were torn from an Outer God whose honorific name is 'Child of Chaos'."

Chumen arrived beneath the giant pyramid, placed his hand on it, and carefully sensed the residue of its Corruption.

"And the 'Child of Chaos' once entered our world in the First Epoch or even earlier, using some unknown method."

Amon's expression darkened. "The Barrier failed?!"

"It should be the particularity of the 'Child of Chaos' Pathway, combined with the fact that He Himself is also one of the most powerful Oldest Ones in this universe." Chumen slowly shook his head.

"Afterward, for some unknown reason, that 'Child of Chaos' split."

Chumen skipped the process and gave Amon the answer directly.

"How did He split?" Amon pushed his Monocle slightly, almost unable to resist stealing certain thoughts from Chumen's mind.

"... Later, the split 'Child of Chaos' became the 'Indefinite Mist', which is also an 'Oldest One' level existence."

Chumen did not answer Amon but continued his introduction to himself.

"And the other part?" Amon suppressed his restless heart; He instinctively felt that this might have some connection to Him.

"Guess?" Chumen looked at Amon with a chuckle.

Amon could not help but reach out and grab; He did indeed steal some of Chumen's thoughts, but they were thoughts Chumen had Imagined and fed to him, identical to what he had just said.

"Be content; in this regard, your father might not know as much as I do." Chumen ignored Amon further and found the entrance on the pyramid.

"The fact that the previous civilization on this planet was destroyed so strangely and rapidly is highly likely related to the 'Child of Chaos' splitting back then."

Civilizations that worshiped Oldest Ones were influenced too deeply, and as for the "Gift" system, Gifted who advanced in this way were easily stripped of everything by the Bestower.

This is also the greatest drawback of the "Gift" system compared to the Potion System.

All great power belongs to that great existence.

"Do you want to uncover the truth of that year from here?" Amon asked again. He had already suffered enough setbacks with Chumen, so He was used to it and adjusted His mindset to keep up.

"Perhaps..." Chumen observed the murals on the passage inside the pyramid.

They depicted the origin of the previous civilization: order conceived within chaos.

"Order conceived within chaos? Is the end of all rules and distortion actually chaotic disorder?" Chumen thought to himself as he walked further inside.

The Outer God power here was almost negligible; it was precisely because the power of order was abruptly lost that this entire civilization perished so quickly.

Specifically, one could imagine the "Inevitability" civilization suddenly losing the "Inevitability" power that maintained its stability.

It would either be completely occupied by the "Mother Tree of Desire" or other Outer Gods, or it would perish in turmoil.

Walking along, Chumen had roughly finished viewing the history of the rise and fall of the entire civilization and finally arrived at the bottom of this pyramid.

"This is an altar for sacrificing to the 'Child of Chaos'." Chumen's eyes lit up; some power still lingered here.

"It was indeed a sudden, great Disaster." Amon looked at the bones that had rotted to ash around the altar; judging by their positions, they must have been killed directly by some power while praying.

Without any ability to resist, everyone perished in the same instant.

Chumen walked directly to the center of the altar, where the symbol and emblem that once represented the "Child of Chaos" had completely turned to dust, destroyed very thoroughly.

Judging from the situation here, the "Indefinite Mist" and the "Child of Chaos" also had major problems after splitting.

And the power remaining here, or even this civilization itself, probably never attracted the gaze of that "Indefinite Mist" again.
