Chapter 19: 19 Capturing a Magician

~8 min read 1,550 words

Today's sunset is especially red, to the point that the clouds in the sky and the road on the ground are draped in a red veil.

However, compared to the color of the flowing human blood, this bit of red is not worth mentioning at all.

Right here on the road in this wilderness, a slaughter is taking place; the accompanying carriage has been cut into two sections, the corpses of horses and Guards lie all over the ground, and fresh blood flows everywhere.

On one side of the road, three sturdy Knights are locked in a struggle; the Knight with a blue lake emblem tattooed on his right arm is fighting two opponents alone, barely holding on, but he likely cannot last much longer.

"Young Miss, quickly take the Young Master and go, hurry!" that Knight shouted loudly.

Yet, behind a carriage, a young boy is lying on the ground with a pale face, his arm bleeding, and a girl beside him is pulling at the boy, struggling to escape.

But it is clear that the girl has sprained her ankle, and it is obviously impossible for her to rely on her own strength to take the boy and escape.

At this moment, another figure slowly walks over, holding a longsword with fresh blood dripping from it.

"Heh, want to escape?"

This man's voice is somewhat hoarse, "Let me send you off to hell!"

A declaration of death; the man raises the longsword in his hand.

The girl's face is deathly pale, and she is unable to move.

"Damn it, you actually dare to assassinate the bloodline of the Green Family!" the entangled Knight roars, but he can only rage in impotence.

He cannot pull himself away at all, and after the girl and the Young Master die, he will be the next to die.

"Whoosh!"

Just as the man raises his sword, a low-quality longsword transforms into an arrow and pierces through the air, pointing straight at his throat.

"Someone is here?" The man is startled and hurriedly gives up on killing the girl, turning to dodge sideways to avoid this attack.

"Whoosh!"

Another longsword pierces through the air, forcing the man to distance himself from the girl.

Clip-clop, clip-clop, clip-clop...

Two warhorses arrive one after another; the ones who have come are none other than Luoning and his Knight, Maiken.

Originally, Luoning did not want to meddle in other people's business, but he figured that on a road like this, even if there were enemies, they would not be anyone powerful.

So, after letting Maiken scout ahead and confirming the basic situation, they rushed over.

Luoning naturally cannot miss out on such an opportunity to save people and befriend nobles.

"Two Knight lords, please lend a hand, the Green Family will surely reward you heavily!"

The fighting Knight yells, but due to the distraction, his arm is slashed by a sword.

"Maiken, save that Knight first," Luoning instructs.

"Understood, my lord!"

Maiken flips off his horse, draws his longsword, and charges over there with his Shield.

But just at this moment, the man who had just raised his sword drops the longsword in his hand and puts his palms together, quickly pulling them apart.

Luoning sees elements condensing between his palms, and in the blink of an eye, they form a blade of Wind Magic.

"Careful, he is a Magician!" the girl says with difficulty, issuing a warning.

"Whoosh!"

The Wind Blade shoots out with such speed that it gives Luoning goosebumps.

"Maiken, look out!"

It is already too late for his warning; Maiken stops his pace, stabs his sword into the ground, and surges his Battle Qi into the earth along the blade.

In front of him, an Earth Wall rises from the ground.

"Boom!"

The Wind Blade strikes the Earth Wall, cutting it clean into two sections and continuing with its remaining force to slash toward Maiken!

Maiken raises his Shield in advance to withstand this blow.

Fortunately, the Wind Blade had been weakened, and the remaining force did not have much lethality; after slamming into the Shield, Maiken only takes a small step back before blocking it.

"Intermediate Knight?"

The Magician's expression changes, "Retreat!"

Seeing that the situation has changed, he does not even think about it and retreats directly, ignoring even the two Knights in the heat of battle.

But now, how could Luoning be willing to let this person run away?

A Magician, what a rare existence, and he is even a Wind Attribute Magician, which is very compatible with his own attribute.

"Maiken, you deal with this Magician, remember not to let him run!"

"Remember to capture him alive!"

"Your will, my longsword!"

Maiken shows no fear and charges over without a second thought.

Meanwhile, Luoning spurs his horse to gallop, charging toward the Knights in the heat of battle.

"Assassinating nobles in Wushan Territory, which faction do you belong to?"

With a sweep of his longsword, carrying the momentum of the charging warhorse, one of the two Knights is forced to jump out to block this strike.

But under the collision of immense force, the sword in the opponent's hand is sent flying.

Luoning is currently a late-stage Primary Knight, with progress already at 95/100, and his strength is much greater than that of the Primary Knight before him.

Added to the boost from the warhorse, it is simply not something the opponent can resist.

He pulls on the reins to stop the warhorse, turns the horse's head, and charges again; the Knight who lost his longsword has no intention of resisting and wants to flee toward the Shanlin to avoid being chased.

But although his speed is fast, it is not faster than the high-quality warhorse Luoning is riding.

"Pfft!"

Luoning catches up from behind and sweeps his sword, cutting open the opponent's arm and the artery in his neck, causing blood to spray.

【Achievement "King of Slaughter" unlocked: Attribute Point +30, Energy Essence +60】

As the battle here ended, the Knight who had just been suppressed also completed his counter-kill.

Now, only the battle between Maiken and the Magician remained unfinished.

Luoning sat on his horse, watching from afar.

At this moment, cyan energy flowed around the Magician's feet, which made Luoning realize that a Magician's speed could actually be on par with an Intermediate Knight's.

It was a pity that after he had fled for a distance, perhaps due to insufficient Magic Power, the energy on his feet vanished, and his speed plummeted.

Even after rushing into the Shanlin, he was quickly caught up to by Maiken, who kicked him from behind and knocked him to the ground.

"I advise you not to struggle; that way you will suffer a little less!"

Maiken caught up and landed two heavy punches, directly breaking two of the opponent's ribs. He then grabbed the back of the opponent's collar and dragged him back down the mountain.

He tossed the Magician in front of Luoning as if he were carrying a kitten, then held his longsword against the opponent's neck.

Luoning sheathed his longsword and pulled on the reins while sitting on his horse, "Who are you people? Why are you assassinating members of the Gelin Family?"

"Hmph!"

The Magician snorted coldly, "If the initial engagement hadn't consumed so much of my Magic Power, you wouldn't be able to capture me now!"

Maiken moved the sword blade and shouted, "Watch your attitude, captive!"

"They should be assassins from the 'Skull Society'."

The injured Knight walked over and bowed to Luoning and Maiken.

"Thank you both for your rescue; the Gelin Family will remember your kindness!"

Luoning nodded slightly, "Go check on your young master and young lady; they should be slightly injured."

Hearing this, the Knight did not dare to delay and walked toward the carriage.

"May the Seven Gods protect you, young master, you only had your skin and flesh cut by a Wind Blade; your tendons and bones are not injured. Young lady, your foot is sprained; you cannot move for the time being."

Luoning withdrew his gaze from the Gelin Family members; this captive would be the greatest harvest of his operation this time.

"Chahaer, bring a few Guards over!"

Chahaer, who was watching from a distance, heard Luoning's call and signaled five Guards to run over.

"My lord, what are your orders?"

Luoning pointed at the Magician on the ground, "You go see what help the young master and young lady over there need."

"Guards, step forward and restrain this fellow. Maiken, you come search him and see if he has any important intelligence on him."

Searching for intelligence was, of course, a lie; Luoning mainly wanted to know if the opponent had any magic books on him, or at the very least, money or the like.

Thanks to "Heaven's Intent" and several other lords for their votes. The book will be on its first round of recommendations at 12 o'clock tonight. Following the updates is truly important for a new author and a new book, so I beg everyone to flip through it every day (only reaching the end of the latest chapter counts as an effective follow-read) so that there is a chance to advance to the next round. Thank you!
