Chapter 425: Jialete's Challenge

~8 min read 1,406 words

As June 14th approached, Jinyu City became increasingly bustling.

Nobles, both great and small, gathered here to participate in this grand event held once every ten years.

Under Blanche's reception, Lulansi and his party arrived at Jinyu Palace to meet His Majesty the King.

"Thunder Marquis, it has been nearly thirty years since we last met, hasn't it?"

Bruno appeared extremely enthusiastic about Lulansi's arrival; he even stepped down from his throne, took the Marquis by the hand, and led him to a chair nearby to sit down.

"Indeed, Your Majesty. I did not expect that I would have the chance to step into Jinyu City and walk into Auduin Hall once again."

"Haha, your recovery is a blessing for the entire Kingdom. You have no idea how happy I was when I heard the news that you had recovered!"

The two chatted for a few moments, then Bruno looked toward Ronin, who was standing to the side.

"I have heard of your performance from Buluoer."

He looked Ronin up and down; the latter's appearance had not changed much, and while his height seemed to have increased slightly compared to before, the greatest change came from the other's strength.

Buluoer patted Ronin on the shoulder, "Well performed. I am happy that Blanche can have a partner like you!"

He did not ask how Ronin had cultivated, as this might involve some unspeakable secrets, and he likely wouldn't have received an honest answer even if he had asked.

"Many thanks for your praise, Your Majesty!"

Ronin bowed slightly, appearing very humble.

"Alright, let Blanche take you to relax. I shall have a good talk with your grandfather about the past!"

Bruno had long been prepared to have an in-depth exchange with Lulansi regarding the geopolitics around Wushan Territory, and this was the perfect opportunity.

Ronin did not intrude and politely withdrew from Auduin Hall.

"Ronin, you are truly amazing!"

Along the way, Blanche, representing the Royal Family, had acted somewhat reserved in front of Lulansi and had not shown much intimacy toward Ronin, but only now did she affectionately link her arm with Ronin's.

"I am only an Advanced Mage right now, yet I heard that you are already a Silver Moon Knight!"

Her thoughts were far simpler than those of Bruno and Jialete.

Blanche only knew that her future husband would be a powerful knight; she had no idea what Ronin's age and strength represented in the eyes of the Royal Family.

Feeling the softness against his arm, Ronin couldn't help but turn his head to look at the profile so close to him, just in time to see her looking up at him.

If they were not outside Auduin Hall, surrounded by many knights and guards, he truly wouldn't have minded a breathtaking kiss.

Ronin looked ahead and said with a smile, "Becoming an Advanced Mage before the age of twenty, you are also very impressive."

Blanche giggled, "I recently released the skeleton knight I had before and caught a more powerful one."

As she spoke, as if showing off a treasure, she cast Undead Summoning Magic and summoned a tall, fierce-looking skeleton knight.

Ronin couldn't help but want to laugh.

When others met, they would either enjoy the scenery, view treasures, or discuss interesting matters, yet Blanche couldn't wait to have him admire a skeleton.

In reality, ever since Blanche learned that Ronin did not mind her special Undead Summoning Magic, her psychological pressure had lessened significantly, and she had become passionate about strengthening her magical prowess, no longer viewing it as an ominous Curse.

"Come, have him swing his sword at me," Ronin said.

Blanche was a bit worried: "Is that okay?"

"Don't worry, it's fine."

Ronin was now at Silver Moon Peak, his body having been strengthened to an unprecedented degree; ordinary arrows and mundane objects could not harm him, let alone when he used Battle Qi for defense.

"Then be careful!"

With a thought from Blanche, the skeleton knight suddenly raised its longsword, leaped up, and slashed down in a rage.

Watching this set of movements, Ronin couldn't help but nod; he hadn't expected the skeleton's movements to be so natural.

With a loud, metallic clang, the longsword struck the arm Ronin used to block, failing to break through the armor formed by his Battle Qi.

He nodded and praised: "This skeleton should have the strength comparable to an Advanced Peak Knight, very impressive!"

Upon receiving the praise, Blanche's mood was more joyful than ever, and the smile on her face was as sweet as if she had eaten honey.

"When I become a Great Mage, I will catch a Bronze-level skeleton!"

Ronin couldn't help but give a thumbs up: "In the future, Wubei Territory might be able to form a skeleton Knight Squad!"

Believe it or not, Blanche was already looking forward to that scene.

"Yo, Blanche, long time no see!"

The scene of the two laughing was broken by this hearty voice.

Ronin looked over and saw a tall, fierce-looking man walking toward them; judging by the other's purple pupils and golden-brown hair, he must be a member of the Auduin Royal Family.

He immediately thought of the Crown Prince, Jialete.

Blanche was like a startled bird, subconsciously shrinking toward Ronin, though she seemed to feel it was inappropriate and forced herself to stand out.

Jialete smiled: "What, it's been years, and my dear sister has nothing to say to me?"

Blanche squeezed out a smile, "Br... Brother, long time no see!"

Ronin felt the immense strength coming from her arm; he sensed Blanche's unease and tension when facing Jialete, and it seemed the relationship between these siblings was not very good.

He released Blanche's arm and bowed respectfully, "Baron of Jiliu Island, Count of Wubei Territory, Ronin Wushan, it is a pleasure to meet you, Prince Jialete!"

Jialete shifted his attention away from Blanche, and when he looked at Ronin, fighting spirit flickered in his eyes.

"I have heard of your deeds from my father; you are quite good!"

He said while looking him over: "How about it, are you interested in having a spar with me?"

Ronin was somewhat surprised; he hadn't expected his brother-in-law's second sentence to him to be a request for a spar.

Judging by the information obtained from the outside world, this Crown Prince had very good talent; he had already been a Meteor Knight many years ago, and now he was likely at the Silver Moon level.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have wanted to spar with him after hearing that he might be a Silver Moon Knight.

Ronin was still wondering whether to agree, but Blanche subconsciously stopped him: "No, don't!"

Jialete looked at her.

Blanche shrank her head back and grabbed Luoning's arm again; although she was somewhat afraid, she still braced herself to say what she wanted to say.

"Luoning has been traveling for several days and only arrived in Jinyu City today; he should have a good rest first."

Jialete chuckled, "In the past, you didn't even have the courage to speak to me, but today you can speak up for someone else. It seems my brother-in-law has given you quite a lot of courage."

As he spoke, he looked at Luoning, his expression implying, "Blanche's words don't count; it depends on how you choose."

Luoning patted her hand to signal her not to worry, then scanned the surroundings: "Which place do you think is more suitable?"

He also wanted to see exactly how strong the legendary Crown Prince was.

Jialete laughed out loud, "Very well, I acknowledge your spirit!"

"Let's go, to the Training Ground in the back!"

He took large strides and was the first to leave the area.

"Luoning, Jialete... he is very aggressive!"

Blanche was very worried: "When he was in the Wangong, he often sparred with others, and many people were crippled or killed by him..."

Luoning frowned slightly; he had not expected the Crown Prince to have such a side, as he had thought the other party had a forthright temperament.

"I will be careful."

He followed him over, then thought of something and asked: "Your relationship with your brother doesn't seem very good?"

Blanche gave a hum, hesitated for a moment, but after thinking about it, she still said it: "He has always felt that I brought shame to him and Father King, so he doesn't really care for me." (End of chapter)
