Chapter 225: Going to the Peace Bureau felt like coming home to Ye Qingfeng~

~6 min read 1,119 words

Billy saw Ye Qingfeng chatting merrily with the shopkeeper and didn’t want to interrupt; after asking about the exit to the Hollow, he led the two from Rabbit Hole away.

The main reason was their current location—very close to the Hollow’s entrance, just a one- or two-minute walk—and following Ies’s direction, the group quickly left the Hollow.

Ye Qingfeng and Zhe remained where they were, bickering—though it was really just Zhe losing his temper unilaterally.

There was nothing to be done; compared to Ye Qingfeng, Zhe still cared too much about face and principles.

By the end, Zhe’s throat was dry and he stormed off to find water, finally ending the scene.

“See you later, Qingfeng!”

Then Ling controlled Ies to lead Ye Qingfeng out of the Hollow, waved goodbye, and severed the connection with Bambu.

“Alright, see you later.” Ye Qingfeng waved his hand.

After those words, Ies’s eyes gradually cleared—clearly, Ling had severed the connection.

“Little Ies, come with me to Light Reflection Square.” Without waiting to see if Ies agreed, Ye Qingfeng reached out and picked it up by the scruff.

“En na! (No!) En na na! (Not going!)”

Ies struggled fiercely, flailing all four limbs, but its collar was firmly gripped by Ye Qingfeng—its resistance had zero effect.

“Stop wriggling—I hate carrying things when I walk,” Ye Qingfeng muttered offhandedly.

“En na! En na! (Then let go!)”

Ies: Who’s a thing? I ask you—who’s a thing? Are you deaf?!

“I’m not going for fun—I’m buying a gift for Ling Mom. Stop acting up,” Ye Qingfeng sighed, rubbing his temple.

The first time he met Ies, he’d been carrying Ling, unconscious, into the video store; back then, it had kicked and tugged at his calf.

Back then they weren’t familiar—he’d tolerated it.

But after working together so long, he’d even won over its mother—and now it’s still like this?

Ye Qingfeng didn’t understand. He didn’t understand at all!

“En na, (Fine.) En na! (Let’s go!)” Ies struck a Superman flying pose.

“Alright, alright~~ Just don’t move around anymore...” Ye Qingfeng slumped his shoulders and yawned lazily.

Every time after a mission, as he walked home with Ies, it would fuss for ages—giving him a preview of parenting a spoiled kid.

Life is hard; Fengfeng sighed...

Fortunately, he’d accidentally discovered that mentioning Ling made Ies react like it had received some signal—its attitude didn’t improve much, but at least it stopped acting up.

Ye Qingfeng walked toward Light Reflection Square, carrying Ies.

This trip had two main purposes.

First, to visit Zhu Yuan and Qingyi at the Peace Bureau.

Second, to pick out a gift for Ling—after all, when Ai Lian and Mao You caused a harem showdown, Ling hadn’t shown up to join in.

Though Ling’s affection was at 90%, technically Ye Qingfeng didn’t need to go out of his way, but she wasn’t an NPC—she deserved care and attention.

Ye Qingfeng carried Ies straight to the Peace Bureau, greeted the guard at the entrance, and walked through without a single obstacle—as if returning home.

Ye Qingfeng knocked on Zhu Yuan’s office door.

“Come in!”

A familiar, firm voice rang out.

Ye Qingfeng opened the door without hesitation.

“What’s the matter...” Zhu Yuan turned—and seeing it was Ye Qingfeng, froze for a moment, then hurriedly stood up. “Qingfeng? What are you doing here? You didn’t even give me a heads-up.”

“Don’t say that.”

Ye Qingfeng stepped forward two paces, casually tossed Ies onto the desk, then used his free hand to press down on Zhu Yuan’s shoulders, gently forcing her back into her chair.

“I just missed my little Yuanbao—I came specially to see you.” His fingertips pressed lightly on her shoulders, voice slightly teasing.

Under the force, Ies rolled uncontrollably across the desk until it bumped into something both hard and soft.

Only then did it stop, dazedly climb up, and hug its chest, trying to get Ye Qingfeng’s attention.

Clearly, it thought Ye Qingfeng had done it by accident—it was offering him a face-saving excuse—but received only his cold indifference.

“En na!! (Bad person!)” Ies complained, then blinked its big, innocent eyes left and right, curious about everything around it.

Qingyi looked down at the Bambu that had collided with her chest, blinking in confusion. “Bambu?”

And it looked familiar... Wasn’t this the Bambu that had helped her and Zhu Yuan before?

Thinking this, Qingyi didn’t dwell further—she reached out and poked Ies’s head.

“En na? (Who?)” Ies felt the voice and motion behind it, covered its head, spun around quickly, and assumed a combat stance.

“Kinda cute...” Qingyi, seeing Ies’s full form, murmured involuntarily.

“En na na~~~ na! (Not really!)” Ies covered its cheeks with both hands, squirming awkwardly.

“Come on! Let me see how unusually developed you are!” Qingyi’s eyes lit up with interest.

Compared to humans, she was far more interested in Bambu.

Without further ado, Qingyi scooped Ies into her arms and gently stroked its head with her slender, warm hands. “What’s your name?”

“En na na! (Ies!)” Ies, having a good first impression of Qingyi, answered honestly.

But after lying in Qingyi’s arms for only a moment, Ies suddenly began struggling violently, trying to escape.

The reason was simple: its head was resting on something uncomfortably hard—like pressing against a slab of iron.

Qingyi seemed to understand, and smiled a “kindly” smile.

It had already sealed its own fate...

At this moment, Ye Qingfeng and Zhu Yuan had no attention to spare for Qingyi’s side.

Though Zhu Yuan had perfectly completed her recent mission, as a Peace Officer, she had no rest—only endless work.

Tired... Really, extremely tired...

But Zhu Yuan had never voiced it, nor truly relaxed.

Even when sleeping, she never silenced her phone, afraid of missing the first call for a mission.

Now, under Ye Qingfeng’s skilled massage, Zhu Yuan closed her eyes in comfort, slumped on the desk, savoring this rare moment of leisure.

Gradually, her eyelids grew heavier; the bustling sounds faded away, and the next second, her head sank—she slipped peacefully into sleep.

Ye Qingfeng confirmed Zhu Yuan’s breathing was steady before slowly withdrawing his hands.

He rummaged slowly through his pocket (spatial backpack), and after a moment, pulled out a pair of earplugs, carefully placing them in Zhu Yuan’s ears.

Even though this was a private office, it was still in a public area—voices and footsteps occasionally came from outside the window and door.

Under such disturbances, no matter how skilled the massage, Zhu Yuan could never have slept.

That’s when the spatial barrier proved useful.

Spatial Barrier: I didn’t even know I had this use?
