Chapter 264: For the Sake of the Observation Report, I Endure!
The airship is now flying straight toward the void where the Barley Building stands! In no time at all, we’ll plunge right into it.
Billy’s eyes widened in panic as he asked:
“Boss, what should I do right now? Should I report this? Will they believe me?”
“According to Mr. Billy, the airship’s course changed some time ago, yet the outside world has shown no reaction to such a major incident...”
Leikarn picked up the thread and voiced his doubt.
“It must be Renn’s doing—he not only took control of the airship, but also mimicked its signal to make everyone believe it’s still flying normally!”
Ling declared firmly.
“There’s no signal inside the void, and even if there were, we had no time to check just now—how do you know no one noticed?”
Ye Qingfeng tilted his head in confusion.
Ling, Leikarn, and Billy from the original airship all drew their blades at once.
Come to think of it... it does make sense...
“Qingfeng is right. I just checked online, and as Ling said, we can almost certainly confirm it’s Renn’s work.”
The atmosphere fell silent. Zhe cut into Ling’s channel and dismissed Ye Qingfeng’s theory.
"Hehe! I've known about this all along—call me the All-Knowing!" Ling lifted her chin triumphantly, determined to get back at Ye Qingfeng for undermining her just now, "Foolish Qingfeng! If you're bad at thinking, go stand over there! Shoo, shoo!"
“Yes, ma’am—Miss Wind-Shift!”
Ye Qingfeng didn’t get angry; he stepped back with a smile.
“Qingfeng—I’m mad!”
Ling puffed out her cheeks and shouted angrily.
“Pfft—who cares~”
“You’re undermining me again! How many times now?!” Ling stamped her foot in fury.
The couple ignored the situation and atmosphere, bickering among themselves. Leikarn, Zhe, and Billy opened their mouths several times but never spoke.
“Boss—Qingfeng—what’s the time for this?! Lives are at stake! Fix the current problem first, then flirt later!!”
Billy was the first to snap out of it.
“And what does this have to do with Renn?!”
Ye Qingfeng showed little reaction, his eyes half-lidded, his mood seemingly better. Ling, by contrast, turned utterly flustered, her cheeks flushed bright red.
She pulled her neck in, acting like a turtle retreating into its shell.
Zhe shook his head in disbelief—after all she’d been through, Ling still had such a thin skin.
“Ahem.” Leikarn cleared his throat twice. “Mr. Billy, I’ll cut to the chase: Miss Renn was kidnapped by a rebel faction, and they’re using her to control your airship!”
“Nani?!”
Billy’s head spun; his heart sank. He clutched his head with both hands.
“Wait—if it’s really Renn, even the Security Bureau couldn’t handle this! Are we really doomed?!”
Ye Qingfeng popped up again with a smile. “Don’t worry, Billy—I’ll gather all your scattered fragments and have someone reassemble you into a Starlight Knight!”
“Eh—so I’ll become a Starlight Knight in my next life?!” Billy immediately realized his mistake. “Wait! If possible, I’d rather not turn into fragments at all!”
“Qingfeng, stop saying such bad omens! Besides, Nico and the others are still on the airship!”
Ling had just calmed Billy down, but Ye Qingfeng’s words threw him into panic again. She shot him an annoyed glare and continued:
“Don’t worry, Billy—the only one who can resolve this crisis right now is Renn. We’re heading straight there. If we can retrieve her in time, we’ll have a chance to change the airship’s...”
“That’s right!! There’s also Nico, Anbi, and Mao You!”
“Oh, right—Billy’s a robot, so he doesn’t matter.”
Ye Qingfeng mimicked Billy’s tone at first, then switched to Anbi’s way of speaking, interrupting Ling, then turned and sprinted full speed toward their destination.
“Hey Qingfeng—I’m introducing you to my former boss! Don’t abandon me!!”
Billy let out a desperate scream.
Everything happened too fast. By the time Ling and Leikarn reacted, Ye Qingfeng was already gone—faint cries of Yihai could be heard in the distance.
The two exchanged a glance and prepared to chase after him, but the sudden silence made Billy realize something was wrong. His face fell.
“Qingfeng—Qingfeng!
You’re not really going to abandon us, are you? I haven’t even seen the ending of the Starlight Knight story yet! Please no...
If I could, I’d trade a year’s worth of profits from the Cunning Rabbit Shop for a chance to escape!”
Leikarn gave Ling a look: Is this guy always this erratic?
Ies scratched his head awkwardly and gave a sheepish smile.
“Don’t worry, Billy—Ye Qingfeng has already headed straight for the location where Renn is being held. You’ll be fine... I guarantee it on Nico’s reputation.”
Ling curled her lips into a sly smile:
“Oh, by the way—the call’s recorded. We’ll gladly take your year’s profits!”
“Understood! I solemnly promise—please save us!”
Billy made a solemn vow.
Ling dropped her smirk and gave a firm promise: “We will rescue the airship. Stay in contact—there may be further need for your assistance!”
“Understood!”
Leikarn stared anxiously in the direction Ye Qingfeng had vanished, frowning slightly, signaling Ling they must hurry after him.
If it weren’t for Master Ropecrafter (Ies) beside him—needing his vigilance against nearby Yihai—he would’ve already chased after him.
Was Ye Qingfeng deliberately doing this?
Did he find an opportunity to leave early to hide something?
If Ye Qingfeng could hear Leikarn’s thoughts, he’d surely burst out laughing.
First, he only ran off to save Nico and the others faster—he did leave early, yes, but he alone could freely use his abilities.
Second, if Ling’s true body had entered the void, he’d never have left so rashly. But if it was Ies, no problem—and wasn’t Leikarn still here?
Should he just tag along to die in the void?
One thing he got right: he deliberately left Ies behind to hold Leikarn back.
“Enough talk—let’s hurry after him!” Ling said, then immediately dashed off on her short legs.
Leikarn’s temples throbbed watching her run—how long would it take to catch Ye Qingfeng like this? How was he supposed to finish his observation report?!
He suggested multiple times that he carry Ies to speed up, but Ling refused each time with the excuse that Ye Qingfeng would get jealous. Leikarn smiled on the surface, but inwardly he was cursing the man to hell.
Jealous? Of whom? The Bumb?!!
Then Ling remembered Ye Qingfeng might be in danger, so she accepted the suggestion—but now it was Leikarn who suffered.
Ies stood proudly atop Leikarn’s head, gripping his ears tightly to avoid falling.
For the sake of the observation report—I endure!
