Chapter 27
“I didn’t expect you’re this good at massage.” Nico lay limp on the sofa, slightly raising an eyebrow in surprise. “Just say what you want outright.”
“Sis Nico, could you get me a weapon?”
Ye Qingfeng crouched beside Nico, his bright eyes filled with pleading.
“What kind of weapon do you want?”
Although Nico didn’t immediately agree, Ye Qingfeng caught her tone and his eyes lit up instantly.
This might work!
“How about a pistol?” He immediately raised his hand and gently pounded her leg. “Sis Nico, I don’t know why, but I really want to massage your legs for you, hehe!”
“Alright, alright.” Nico rolled her eyes, glancing at Ye Qingfeng with resignation. For his safety, she’d have to spend the money. “But this expense gets deducted from your salary!”
“No problem at all!”
Hearing Nico’s agreement, Ye Qingfeng suppressed his grin and nodded eagerly.
After all, since arriving at the Rabbit’s Den, he’d never received a salary; if not for the occasional kickbacks on groceries and the many Ding Ni he’d drawn from the system, he’d probably be penniless by now...
“I’m going to sleep. The item won’t arrive for a few days.”
“Goodbye, Sister Nico!”
Nico waved dismissively without looking back, yawning as she headed upstairs.
“Rest well for a few days. Once the item arrives, test whether this firearm skill works.” Ye Qingfeng picked up clean clothes and headed for the bathroom. “Tomorrow I’ll find Anbi and see if she can train me in close combat.”
Ye Qingfeng finished his shower humming a tune and fell asleep quickly upon returning to his room.
The next morning, Ye Qingfeng prepared a lavish breakfast.
“I didn’t expect your cooking’s this good!” Billy appeared in the living room, unusually present. He sat beside Ye Qingfeng, staring in astonishment at the array of dishes, then raised a hand as if wiping his mouth.
“Not bad.”
Nico ate quietly, offering a casual compliment.
“Great word! Qingfeng, great word!”
Anbi’s mouth was stuffed full, her left hand holding a fresh fried dough stick, her right gripping a bite-sized bun.
A black line appeared on Ye Qingfeng’s forehead. He lowered his voice and snapped, “Anbi, swallow your food before you talk!”
For some reason, Anbi’s words sounded strange...
And though she was usually a stoic girl, she was in truth a glutton who couldn’t walk away from delicious food.
He thought his cooking was merely average, yet he hadn’t imagined that just a few Chinese dishes would have such an effect on them.
Compared to Anbi, Sister Nico’s movements weren’t as...wild, but the slight swell of her belly showed she’d eaten plenty too.
Poor Billy sat beside them, watching the other three devour their meals with such appetite, yet he hadn’t taken a single bite—his face filled with despair.
“Sister Nico, could you wash the dishes today? I need to talk to Anbi.”
“Fine...” Nico agreed, but didn’t move. “Billy, wash the dishes!”
“What?!?” Billy shot to his feet, staring at Nico in disbelief, pointing a finger at himself. “Me? Wash dishes?! I didn’t eat a single bite—Sister Nico, you want me to wash dishes?!?!”
It was clear Billy was extremely...
“I’ll give you a bonus if you finish.”
With just those words, Billy grabbed a stack of plates and dashed into the kitchen.
Extremely excited?!
Ye Qingfeng glanced at Nico in surprise.
Nico? Bonus? Why did those two words together sound so strange to him?
“Anbi, let’s go! This place isn’t convenient.” Ye Qingfeng grabbed Anbi’s wrist, preparing to leave. “Let’s go to the park at Guangying Square, Anbi?”
He tugged at Anbi’s wrist, but got no response. He turned, puzzled, to find her sprawled fully on the sofa, her belly clearly curved upward.
“So full... can’t move...” Anbi slowly turned her head, gazing at Ye Qingfeng with innocent eyes.
“Who told you to eat so much?!” Ye Qingfeng said, pulling at her to rise. “Get up and walk around—help your digestion. By the time we reach Guangying Square, you should feel better.”
“You’re impossible, Qingfeng!” Anbi struggled to sit up, sighing with resignation. “Even going out requires someone to accompany me... looks like Qingfeng’s still a child!”
...The one who acts most like a child here is you! Who eats until they can’t walk?!
“Sister Anbi, can we leave already?”
【Ding! Anbi’s affection increased by 5%. Current affection: 40%. Reward: two additional draws.】
“No problem, Brother Qingfeng—we’re leaving right now!”
Anbi’s dull pupils suddenly glowed. She grabbed Ye Qingfeng’s hand and pulled him toward the door.
He hadn’t expected that simply calling her “sister” would raise her affection... but!
“Wait—wait a minute! Are you really going out wearing that pajama?” Ye Qingfeng stared at Anbi’s cartoon-print pajamas, his mouth twitching. He pointed weakly upstairs with a forced smile. “Why don’t you change clothes first?”
“You’re impossible.”
Anbi sighed faintly and went upstairs alone to change.
Who’s impossible here?!
After a while, Anbi returned wearing a black hoodie and denim shorts. Ye Qingfeng raised an eyebrow at the outfit.
For some reason, paired with her stoic face, it gave him the impression of a cool, aloof senior sister—not because of her height, but because of her aura.
And Anbi’s jeans looked familiar... why did they resemble the ones Sister Nico usually wore?!
Whatever. At least we can leave now!
“Let’s go, Anbi.”
“Okay.”
As the two stepped outside, Billy—freshly finished washing dishes—walked up to Nico and extended his palm.
“My bonus.”
Nico pulled out one Ding Ni, wearing a pained expression as she dropped it into his hand, then waved him off. “Go do whatever. I’m going back to sleep.”
Last night, she’d contacted several weapon merchants, compared prices, bargained hard with the most reasonable ones—thankfully, Qingfeng had made a decent breakfast.
"Sister Nico... you can't be serious! Not like this!" Billy clutched his head and roared. "And you even looked concerned?! One Ding Ni? What's that even good for?!"
“Enough complaining.” Nico yawned, utterly unconcerned. “Once Fa Tong’s mission is done and the target recovered, I’ll give you all bonuses.”
“Sister Nico, where’s your conscience?!” Billy pointed accusingly. “I watched you all eat so much, then made me wash dishes—and you give me one Ding Ni?!”
“Hmph! Conscience? How many Ding Ni is conscience worth?” Nico slowly turned to Billy. “I recall your ammunition’s nearly depleted, right?”
“Sister Nico, rest easy!” Billy swore firmly. “I’ll sit right here on the sofa! No one will disturb you!”
“Do as you like...”
