Chapter 29: New Achievable Target

~6 min read 1,106 words

“Master Qiao, give me a large bowl of ramen!”

A little girl with blue skin burst into the ramen shop, her energetic voice calling out to the ramen chef.

“Coming right up! It’s little Cangjiao, right? Sit down for a moment, it’ll be ready soon!”

“Mm! Mm!”

Cangjiao sat quietly beside Ye Qingfeng, her tiny feet swinging back and forth in the air.

Ye Qingfeng raised an eyebrow in surprise—it had been a long time since a new achievable target appeared. He quietly observed the person beside him.

She had skin he’d never seen before, blue and smooth, with two curved horns on her forehead—probably another type of Xiren, then?

She wore a JK uniform with a leather jacket over it and sneakers on her feet; in appearance alone, she looked like a petite, adorable student.

She was staring intently at the ramen chef as he cooked, clearly a little foodie. After this brief observation, her personality seemed to be that of a carefree, lively younger sister type—quite charming!

Oh, and she had a long, slender tail, matching her skin tone but black at the tip—undoubtedly a plus.

“Here’s your ramen, sir.”

A bowl of ramen was placed before Ye Qingfeng, pulling his attention back.

“I feel even hungrier now...”

Cangjiao, too, was drawn to the sight—she gazed longingly at Ye Qingfeng’s ramen, a trickle of saliva escaping her lips. She swallowed and wiped her mouth with her hand, then looked up at Master Qiao with a pitiful expression: “Is mine ready yet?! I’m starving...”

“Almost! Just a moment longer, little Cangjiao.”

“Fine...” Cangjiao slumped onto the table, her face pressed flat, eyes vacant and fixed ahead, utterly still.

“If you don’t mind, would you like some cookies?”

Ye Qingfeng pulled out two bags of cookies and placed them before Cangjiao.

He’d bought extra food and water beforehand, just in case of emergencies, and stored them in his spatial backpack. Seeing the once-bubbly Cangjiao suddenly slump into despair, he’d unconsciously reached for the cookies.

“Wow! Perfect! Thank you!” Cangjiao shot upright, snatched up the two bags of cookies, then suddenly paused, blinking her big eyes at Ye Qingfeng with uncertain tone: “Are these really for me?”

“They’re really for you. Go ahead and eat.”

Watching Cangjiao come alive again, Ye Qingfeng found his lips twitching upward involuntarily, speaking in a tone meant to soothe a child.

“Thank you so much! Then I won’t be polite!”

Cangjiao tore open one bag without hesitation, shoved all the cookies into her mouth at once, and immediately wore a blissful expression: “Mmm... so delicious!”

Her tiny feet beneath the table kicked rapidly, “Heeheehee~”

Ye Qingfeng took small sips of his ramen while carefully observing the little cutie.

Are cookies really this good? I remember they’re just a bit sweet and kind of dry...

She’s actually looking so satisfied—it gives me a dog-like vibe. Could she be a dog Xiren?

Before finishing the first bag, Cangjiao tore open the second and shoved it into her mouth—just as Ye Qingfeng expected, she choked.

He was just about to get her a bottle of water when her ramen arrived.

She quickly lifted the bowl and gulped down a large mouthful of broth, her eyes brightening as she grabbed chopsticks and shoved a huge bite of noodles into her mouth: “This—is—so delicious!”

Ye Qingfeng silently declared it adorable.

Unlike those two—Nico clearly enjoyed her food but never praised it, and Anbi wolfed everything down but always paired it with a blank face and a flat “it’s good.”

If this little thing tasted his cooking, she’d give him maximum emotional value!

What do I do?! I really want to take her home!

“Cangjiao, why are you wandering off alone again?!” Someone suddenly rushed into the ramen shop. Her worried expression eased the moment she saw Cangjiao, and she scolded sternly: “Didn’t I say I’d take you to eat soon?!”

She’d brought Cangjiao to the Public Security Bureau for a meeting, but when she wasn’t looking, Cangjiao slipped out. Luckily, she’d probably just gone looking for food—she was found without much trouble.

She wasn’t worried about Cangjiao’s safety, but knowing her personality, someone might’ve lured her away with food. At least she was found.

“Liu-jie, you’re here!” Cangjiao set down her bowl, delighted at the sight of the newcomer. “Want a bowl of ramen too?”

【Ding! Achievable Target: Yuecheng Liu】

【Initial Affinity: 0%】

Ye Qingfeng glanced at the sudden new achievable target with surprise. Without even considering anything else, it was clear she was completely different from Cangjiao.

Long pink hair, eyes matching its hue, tall and curvaceous with a perfect waist-to-hip ratio, and glasses that fit her persona perfectly.

In Ye Qingfeng’s eyes, she had the aura of a strict teacher—so the glasses made sense.

About 1.7 meters tall, dressed in a white shirt with a black tie, a short skirt, and high heels.

She was the only person he’d met so far whose figure could rival Zhu Yuan’s.

If Zhu Yuan was the delicate, gentle moonlight, Yuecheng Liu was the cold exterior hiding a tender, big-sister heart.

Ye Qingfeng suddenly felt an inexplicable urge to say, “Sister, I can do this...”

“Cangjiao, you... never mind...” Yuecheng Liu sighed helplessly, then slowly turned her gaze toward Ye Qingfeng with a scrutinizing look. “So... sir, what is your business here?”

She hadn’t noticed him when she entered, assuming he was just an ordinary customer. But his gaze had kept drifting over—she didn’t think he was a threat, but still kept her guard up.

Still, she’d instinctively assumed he was perhaps a fan of Air Six Division.

“Ah, um...”

The moment Yuecheng Liu’s gaze landed on him, Ye Qingfeng guiltily lowered his head to eat his noodles. When she called out to him, he slowly lifted his eyes, stammering, unsure what to say.

Should he really say, “Can I take Cangjiao home?”—with that piercing look, he felt like he was being stared down by his homeroom teacher.

“Liu-jie, he just gave me two bags of cookies!”

Cangjiao, oblivious to the tension, cheerfully pointed it out.

“Is that so...” Yuecheng Liu withdrew her sharp gaze, her expression softening as she reached out and gently ruffled Cangjiao’s hair. “Did you say thank you?”

“I did!”

“Thank you, sir, for giving Cangjiao food,” Yuecheng Liu turned back to Ye Qingfeng, pulling out a pen from her pocket. “Would you like an autograph?”

“No, no, it was just a little snack.”

Ye Qingfeng waved his hands quickly, but froze when he heard the next sentence.
