Chapter 43: Displaying Gun Skills

~6 min read 1,053 words

With the same sensation of weightlessness as when he first entered, Ye Qingfeng slipped smoothly into the hollow.

He looked around—the scene before him was identical to the one he had seen before.

【Ding! Host has entered the hollow. Rosetta data automatically activated!】

No sooner had the system’s announcement ended than an accurate map of the hollow appeared in Ye Qingfeng’s mind.

The feeling was strange—like walking through the hollow with his eyes closed, yet still being able to find his way out.

But the map showed nothing but paths—nothing else.

Ye Qingfeng had expected it to directly display the location of the Wraiths, but it seemed he’d still have to work for it.

Compared to his panicked state during his last accidental entry, Ye Qingfeng was now remarkably calm.

Maybe this was the difference between having confidence and having none?!

Come to think of it, he’d been so nervous last time he’d forgotten a very useful skill.

Divination! He’d learned it from an old man inside the hollow before he crossed over.

At first he didn’t believe in such things—until he later found out the old man had used three copper coins to win two million RMB to pay off his son’s debts.

But he came here for a different reason: debt collectors had found out, kidnapped his grandson, and threatened him. He was over sixty, yet somehow located their position.

He went alone, and when the police arrived, they found him covered in blood, clutching his grandson as he walked out the door.

He was truly a ruthless man!

But! In the end, divination was still superstition—he didn’t know why he could never reach the old man’s level.

For example, if he and the old man used the same method to cast a divination and then bought lottery tickets.

Ye Qingfeng might win around 100,000 RMB, while the old man would win over 500,000.

But at least finding Nico’s and the others’ locations wouldn’t go wrong.

Ye Qingfeng pulled out three copper coins and tossed them on the ground, repeating the act six times before snatching them up and sprinting decisively in one direction.

Soon he encountered two Wraiths. His palm retracted into his sleeve, and when it emerged again, a pistol now rested in his hand.

He fired two bullets in quick succession—each struck a Wraith’s head with perfect accuracy. Both collapsed backward, their bodies slowly dissolving into nothing.

Indeed, these ordinary-looking Wraiths died with two well-placed headshots, following the usual pattern.

Every Wraith Ye Qingfeng encountered along his straight path stayed more than five meters away—good news: he hadn’t wasted much time; bad news: his ammo was down to about half.

But he could now see the silhouettes of the three Rabbit Hole members far ahead—his tense heart finally eased.

“Nico! Anbi! Billy!”

Ye Qingfeng sprinted toward them, beaming.

“Qingfeng?”

“Qingfeng?!!”

Nico and Billy stared at the approaching Ye Qingfeng, stunned.

“I came to save...”

As Ye Qingfeng reached their side and struck what he thought was a cool pose, his words were cut off by Anbi suddenly speaking.

“Aowu! I’ve been corrupted by the hollow and turned into a monster! Aowu aowu!”

Anbi stared blankly at Ye Qingfeng, arms outstretched, fingers curled, wrists swaying like the lucky cat in Zhe and Ling’s video store.

Ye Qingfeng froze in place, stunned by Anbi’s sudden cuteness.

This... this is way too adorable!!

Anbi tilted her head, watching Ye Qingfeng’s dazed expression, waiting for his reaction. When he stayed silent, she suddenly grabbed his hand and bit down gently with a pair of cute little fangs.

She held his finger in her mouth, looking up at him with wide, glistening eyes.

Anbi’s naturally clueless personality meant she often spoke without thinking, frequently angering Ye Qingfeng—and worse, she never realized she’d done it.

Like today’s remark...

But—! Given how adorable Anbi was, he’d forgive her!

Ye Qingfeng sighed helplessly at the dazed Anbi, “Seriously... fine, I forgive you!”

Anbi’s eyes flickered with confusion. Slowly, she released his finger; her lips parted, leaving a faint dampness and a shallow row of tooth marks on his skin.

“Mm... thanks for forgiving me, Qingfeng!” Anbi continued immediately: “Can we have hamburgers tonight?”

Anbi didn’t know when she’d angered Ye Qingfeng, but her clever mind instantly devised a solution: apologize sweetly to get him to make her hamburgers!

Nico often called her dumb, but she was actually brilliant most of the time!

At that moment, Nico—who knew both Anbi and Ye Qingfeng—immediately spotted the misunderstanding.

But she had no intention of exposing Anbi’s little trick. She’d worried Ye Qingfeng still harbored resentment over that earlier remark; now, this situation was perfect!

“Hey... Nico boss!” Billy, sensing the odd silence, poked Nico’s shoulder with one finger and pointed at Ye Qingfeng with the other: “So why is Qingfeng here?”

“Right!” Nico, jolted by Billy’s reminder, finally noticed Ye Qingfeng standing before her. Her eyes blazed with fury as she roared at him: “So why the hell did you come into the hollow?!!”

Billy, in stark contrast to the furious Nico, moved close to Ye Qingfeng with tearful admiration: “I didn’t expect you to risk your life and fight your way here to save us!”

“You must’ve prepared thoroughly, right?”

Ye Qingfeng paused, visibly startled by Billy’s questions—he hadn’t expected such sharpness. Clearly, Billy wasn’t as simple as he looked!

“Yeah! Qingfeng, didn’t you run into any Wraiths along the way?”

Nico stepped up to Ye Qingfeng, leaning forward with hands on her hips, her bright eyes brimming with suspicion.

“Hmph!” Ye Qingfeng lifted his chin and let out two proud snorts. “No more pretending—I’m actually a genius!”

He flicked his wrist, and a pistol materialized. He picked up a small pebble at his feet. “Nico, watch this shot!”

“Why?”

“Because this shot will be awesome!”

Ye Qingfeng tossed the pebble high into the air. When it reached its peak, he raised the pistol with one hand, aimed, and fired.

A bullet shot from the barrel and struck the pebble dead center.

While everyone’s eyes were fixed on the airborne pebble, Ye Qingfeng slipped his hand into his sleeve and slowly withdrew a tall white top hat.

He placed the hat on his head, tugged the brim gently, and grinned wide, revealing a row of bright white teeth.
