Chapter 61: Anbi in a White Dress

~6 min read 1,055 words

Anbi, dressed in a white dress, made a sound with each step on the stairs, as if wearing high heels.

Paired with her expressionless face, she looked like a cold, elegant fairy descending from heaven, her sacred and noble aura unmistakable.

From the moment Ye Qingfeng saw her, he could not look away, quietly watching her until she stood before him.

“Qingfeng? What are you staring at?” Anbi waved her hand in front of his face, tilting her head and asking blankly: “Can we go now?”

“I’ve never seen you wear something like this before...”

Ye Qingfeng instinctively stepped back from Anbi, swallowed hard, and trembled as he pointed at her white dress.

Since the first time he saw Anbi, she had always worn black skirts or pants—how drastic the change was just by switching to a white dress!

He meant to comment on her aura now, but never expected it to be this stunning.

If he had to describe Anbi’s aura at this moment, he could only compare it to first love.

“Nico made me wear this,” Anbi said softly, blinking her eyes. “She said this dress has been sitting in the closet gathering dust for so long without me ever wearing it—it’s a waste, so she told me to wear it today and go out with Qingfeng.”

“Then why didn’t you wear it before?”

Ye Qingfeng voiced his question.

“Because this was the first thing Nico ever gave me!” Anbi’s expression turned suddenly serious. “And once, when I wore it and went out with Nico, we got robbed. Even though I easily drove them off, the dress got stained.”

“I spent a lot of effort cleaning it afterward,” Anbi suddenly remembered something and reached out to grip Ye Qingfeng’s arm. “Nico also said I should keep following you like this—if anything happens to this dress, Qingfeng has to pay for it.”

Anbi’s sudden closeness brought a faint, sweet scent; the softness against his arm made him momentarily distracted.

Ye Qingfeng, who had always felt nothing for Anbi, now felt his heart race uncontrollably, his breathing grow rapid, his body stiffen without his consent.

“How many Ding Ni is this dress?”

Even so, Ye Qingfeng needed to confirm one thing—he had a feeling this wasn’t as simple as it seemed.

“Nico said five hundred thousand Ding Ni,” Anbi replied, sensing his rigid body and sudden rise in temperature. After answering, she asked softly, puzzled: “Qingfeng, you’re so hot—are you unwell?”

“H-how much?”

Ye Qingfeng had been slightly embarrassed by Anbi’s sudden action, but the moment he heard the price, his embarrassment vanished, replaced by furious rage.

Was she really treating him like a complete fool?!

“Five hundred thousand Ding Ni,” Anbi repeated, expressionless, as if he hadn’t heard properly.

What is Nico up to now?!

He didn’t understand why Nico would pull this stunt—did she really expect him to pay five hundred thousand Ding Ni?

The problem was—he actually had that much!

“Uh... let’s go,” Ye Qingfeng sighed heavily, rising and heading for the door. As he walked, he asked Anbi beside him: “Did Nico say anything else?”

“No.”

Anbi, still holding his arm as he led her forward, turned back the moment they stepped out the door—and saw Nico giving a victory sign at the staircase.

Anbi slowly raised her left hand to her cheek and gave a victory sign in return.

Feeling the pull from Ye Qingfeng, she closed the door behind her and walked beside him down the street.

While she was halfway through changing clothes, Nico burst into the room, grabbed the dress from her closet without a word, and ordered her to put it on.

Anbi had no choice but to remove the half-donned clothes and slip into the dress Nico handed her.

Her bare back, pale as ice and smooth as jade, remained untouched by the wide-eyed stare beside her as she slowly slipped into the white dress.

Nico watched Anbi and nodded approvingly, speaking with gravity: “Anbi, you don’t want to stop eating Qingfeng’s hamburgers, do you?”

Anbi: ?!!

“I suspect Qingfeng has been swayed by Billy and might leave the Rabbit’s Den...” Nico hadn’t finished speaking when she saw Anbi’s eyes sharpen as she grabbed a knife—she lunged forward and grabbed her. “Wait! Wait! This is just suspicion, okay? There’s no proof yet!”

“No need... I’ll just cut Billy to pieces and solve it.”

Anbi kept walking forward despite Nico’s protests, making Nico slide helplessly behind her, dragged along.

For Anbi, the most important person, thing, and food were, respectively: Nico, movies, and hamburgers.

Now living in the Rabbit’s Den, she saw Nico every day, could watch movies whenever she wanted, and—most importantly—ate hamburgers!

The hamburgers she’d eaten before couldn’t compare to Qingfeng’s. If she once merely liked hamburgers, now she loved his many dishes—even though, among them, she still preferred hamburgers above all.

As long as Qingfeng was around, she could keep eating delicious hamburgers; the money she’d spent on burgers could now go toward two more movies.

With this cycle repeating, her happy life had finally begun!

And now she learned Billy threatened her happiness—could she tolerate that?!

“Calm down, Anbi! I’ve thought of a plan!”

Nico hurried to soothe Anbi, whose determination had suddenly hardened. She didn’t know why, but the situation couldn’t wait.

She couldn’t just kill Billy! That would be... too wasteful!

Any idiot could tell a pile of scrap metal was worth less than a fully intact combat robot.

She only wanted to dock Billy’s salary for a few months! She never meant to kill him!

If Billy knew the current situation, he’d panic—oh wait, he already talks...

“What plan?”

Anbi suddenly stopped and turned slowly, wearing the most serious expression she’d ever shown.

“Do exactly as I say—I’ll make sure Qingfeng stays loyal to the Rabbit’s Den forever!”

Nico pressed close to Anbi, smirking as she leaned into her ear: “Think—what does Qingfeng especially like or care about?”

Anbi rapidly ran through everything Ye Qingfeng might like:

Hamburgers? Eliminated! Movies? Eliminated! Nico? Tentative!

Ding Ni? Huh?!

“Ding Ni!”

Anbi mentally reviewed everything she and Nico liked, and concluded Ye Qingfeng was more likely to value Ding Ni.

“That makes sense... who doesn’t love Ding Ni...” Nico’s eyes brightened, then dimmed again. “The problem is—we don’t have any Ding Ni!”
