Chapter 1025
Light and shadow dance, filtering faintly through the green leaves laden with dew. The pale blue sky is cloudless, yet the sunlight has never reached here. It is tranquil and fragrant; the scent of flowers permeates the forest, a spring flows slowly, the distant mountains stand tall, and the chirping of birds is sparse. Before the eyes, thick white mist obscures the view, hazy and dim.
Su Yu walks into it with light steps. He raises his eyes in alertness, yet he is drawn in by this hazy and wondrous place. The fragrance of the flowers leads him to continue walking forward. There is no one around; in the quiet forest, there is only the sound of birds and the trickling spring. He gradually relaxes his vigilance.
The further forward he goes, the hazier it becomes. Su Yu knows that everything ahead is unknown. He glances behind him inadvertently and suddenly discovers that the path he walked is no longer visible, faintly revealing a sense of coldness and gloom. Yet the path ahead, which he has not yet walked, remains bright, tranquil, and intoxicating.
Su Yu's footsteps suddenly halt. He abruptly realizes something, and his expression sinks. He looks down and sees that his feet have not stopped moving since he entered the forest. He knows—he has been bewitched.
The floral scent grows increasingly intense and fragrant. Su Yu knows it must be the scent that has made him this way. From the moment he entered, he had secretly sensed it; it was the floral scent that made his whole body comfortable, the floral scent that made him relax his vigilance, and the floral scent that caused him to lose his consciousness!
Su Yu suddenly figures out the reason. He lowers his head, takes a dagger from his sleeve, and stabs his arm. The pain brings him back to his senses. Su Yu regains his focus and steps inward with vigilance.
Intuition tells Su Yu that there must be something fishy in this forest. The floral scent and mist that bewitch the consciousness are only one part of it. No one has ever entered here; there must be some unspeakable secret.
Su Yu walks forward quickly. He only wants to find the Sweet Spring to detoxify and leave this Sudden Soul Lamp immediately. He does not pause for a single step.
But just as Su Yu is about to take the next step, his body suddenly jerks to a halt. His eyes quickly look toward that spot. He has observed this place; from the moment he entered until now, all the trees he has encountered have green leaves, but the color of those leaves—is silver.
Su Yu realizes that in this forest, only this one tree has silver leaves. He walks past slowly and cautiously. He walks around the tree once and discovers a mark on it.
It is a black pattern. Su Yu frowns and tentatively pokes it lightly with his dagger. Suddenly, it is as if a gale has swept through the forest; the silver tree shakes violently. Several silver leaves fall off, brushing against the trees nearby and leaving deep, long gashes.
Su Yu retreats a few steps abruptly. He looks up as the silver leaves from that tree drift down. He dodges to the side, and the silver leaves embed themselves into the rock behind him.
Su Yu runs quickly to the side. When the silver leaves are no longer falling near him, he looks up to investigate the movement of that tree.
"What kind of mortal dares to trespass here?" A deep, resonant voice reaches Su Yu, echoing through the forest.
Su Yu is startled. He looks around to find the speaker but sees no one. He frowns and stares at the silver tree, realizing it is the one that spoke.
"Heh, so this old one has slept for three thousand years, only to not know that this junior is the master of the Sudden Soul Lamp? I wonder if this young man is worthy of the title of master?" It speaks with a tone of surprise, as if it has learned of a shocking event, and lets out a mocking laugh.
Su Yu looks coldly at the silver tree and asks, "If I can be the master of the Sudden Soul Lamp, there must be a reason for it. This junior, however, does not know who the senior is?"
