Chapter 977: The mastermind behind the scenes is the Giant Python, a trap set specifically for him

The Giant Python merely approached Su Yu, using its body to nudge Su Yu's arm again and again.

Su Yu felt nothing but disgust; the fishy stench unique to the Giant Python washed over him, overwhelming and suffocating. For a split second, Su Yu even felt like vomiting.

But he held it back. He kept his body rigid, standing straight as a board, not daring to move a muscle.

Who knew what kind of madness this thing might succumb to? Besides, it clearly didn't look like a benevolent creature.

Su Yu endured the nausea, feeling the Giant Python's body pressing tighter and tighter against him. Its torso slowly coiled around Su Yu's chest and abdomen, moving sluggishly, as if it were toying with him, or perhaps delivering a silent threat.

Its cold, chilling sensation pressed close to Su Yu, making him feel, time and again, that the Giant Python wanted his life.

Yet, the Giant Python did not. It was like a cat playing with a mouse under its paw—merely interested in him, but not needing his life.

Su Yu clenched his fists. He took a deep breath, forcing himself to slowly calm down.

The Giant Python's body shifted, seemingly dissatisfied with Su Yu's composure. It quickly pulled away, then lunged violently toward Su Yu, opening that foul-smelling, terrifying blood-red maw.

Su Yu recoiled sharply. His gaze was entirely drawn to the blood-red mouth. The Giant Python seemed to have done it just to scare him; it held the open-mouthed posture for several seconds before slowly returning to its previous state.

Su Yu gritted his back teeth and said:

"What exactly do you want?! Did you know from the very beginning that I could enter the Giant Rhinoceros Ruins and obtain the Hall of the Giant Rhinoceros?"

Su Yu no longer intended to release the Heavenly Maiden Beast; even if he did, it would only be an unnecessary sacrifice.

The Giant Python understood Su Yu's words. It no longer pressed against him, but instead transformed, shifting into the appearance of a young man.

Though he now had a human form, his aura remained cold and chilling. To Su Yu, it felt just like that pillar-shaped torture device—an extremely ominous sensation.

Seeing its human form, Su Yu felt, for some reason, increasingly tense.

The Giant Python did not seem in a hurry to provide Su Yu with answers. With an expressionless face, he asked Su Yu his first question: "Are you willing to recreate the Giant Rhinoceros with me?"

His voice was extremely aged, sounding deeply unsettling. It was the first time Su Yu had ever known a "person's" voice could be so disturbing.

Su Yu frowned, not understanding what he meant.

The Giant Python knew Su Yu didn't understand him at all. A hint of impatience flickered across his face: "You only need to answer whether you are willing or not."
