Chapter 7: Dai Tu's Challenge

~5 min read 999 words

I lost when I sparred with Kakashi before.

When Kakashi heard Kai say that, he instantly sensed something was wrong, and before Kai could say anything, he heard Dai Tu say beside him:

"Huh? Is that so? So Kakashi is a bit stronger! Kakashi Hatake, step forward! I'll challenge you!"

Kai, you bastard!!!!

Kakashi's dead‑fish eyes widened; he never expected the roundabout talk between the two idiots to end up back on himself.

And that idiot called Uchiha Dai Tu can't understand human speech? Kai clearly said he lost to me; how did you hear that I'm a bit stronger than my brother?

"Go ahead, Kakashi."

After hearing Qimu Chao's words, Kakashi sighed, rose from his seat, and walked straight out of the classroom.

I hope that after beating this idiot, this will be over, and we won't have another Fated Enmity like Kai.

School is really exhausting…

Both parties stood outside the classroom; according to Ninja Academy rules, before a match they must first perform the Binding Seal, and after it the Reconciliation Seal. But they're still freshmen, and this isn't an official match, so they naturally ignore those formalities.

"Kakashi, go for it!"

"Kakashi is so cool!"

Most of the girls in class cheered for Kakashi, and the scene made Dai Tu grit his teeth: "Damn Kakashi, just you watch!"

Mid‑sentence, Dai Tu charged toward Kakashi's direction, his straight‑forward punch showing countless flaws in Kakashi's eyes.

"Just as expected, he's indeed an idiot…"

Facing a foe like Dai Tu, Kakashi even felt confident enough to fight him blindfolded, since such a single, direct attack is too easy to anticipate.

Kakashi didn't even bother to block; he sidestepped Dai Tu's confident punch, then casually hooked his calf, causing Dai Tu to lose balance and fall.

Dai Tu, face down on the ground, covered his nose and stood up: "Damn Kakashi, you dodged my attack like that—watch this!"

Having said that, under everyone's gaze, Dai Tu began forming a seal with both hands.

Si—Wei—……

When he reached the third seal, Dai Tu suddenly froze: "Right, what's the third seal again?"

The classmates who had been watching and were about to call a teacher to stop them hissed: "Dai Tu, don't embarrass yourself by using a technique you haven't even memorized the seal for!"

"Exactly, Dai Tu, you're scaring people to death."

"I didn't forget!" Hearing the classmates, Dai Tu's face flushed: "I just hit my head on the ground and blanked out for a moment."

"If you can actually unleash the Fireball Technique, I might change my opinion of you; but as it stands, you're just an idiot."

Kakashi flicked his wrist, saw the two preceding seals and, recalling the Uchiha clan's tradition, instantly knew which technique Dai Tu intended to release.

If he could actually fire the Fireball, this match would be interesting, but unfortunately…

Class time is almost over; let's end this farce.

Dai Tu was still debating with the surrounding classmates, and Kakashi walked up to him, asking: "Shall we continue?"

"Of course!"

Hearing Kakashi's question, Dai Tu spun around, but before he could launch an attack, Kakashi's hand came forward and pressed his entire left hand onto Dai Tu's face, while Kakashi's leg hook knocked his lower body off balance.

With a bang, Dai Tu's occiput slammed into the floor.

This move, Qimu Chao had used against him in a Body Technique spar, saying it's suitable when one's strength overwhelms the opponent.

In a strength contest, Kakashi wouldn't match Qimu Chao, but against Dai Tu it's a piece of cake.

Sss…

Holding his head, Dai Tu stared at Kakashi's retreating back as he entered the classroom and shouted: "Kakashi, remember this—next time Grand Dai Tu will definitely beat you."

The surrounding classmates dispersed after the fight, and only Dai Tu's childhood friend Ye Yuan Lin rushed to his side, pulling him up and dusting him off: "Honestly, Dai Tu, you always act so tough. Kakashi and his brother haven't bothered you, so why do you go looking for trouble with them?"

"Lin‑chan, I…"

Dai Tu looked at Lin, his face flushing, unsure what to say.

"Wait, you need to properly apologize to them."

Hearing Lin's words, Dai Tu froze briefly, then exaggeratedly said: "Hey hey hey, Lin, the one who got hit was me. Even if an apology is needed, it should be that Kakashi guy apologizing to me, right?!"

"But weren't you the one who started the trouble, Dai Tu?" Lin stared at him sternly and said seriously.

"Ah… I get it."

Dai Tu scratched his head and agreed to Lin's suggestion.

In the classroom, Qimu Chao was still seated, flipping through the Ninja Basic Textbook the school issued; hearing Kakashi's footsteps, he didn't look up and asked: "All set?"

"Probably…"

Hearing his brother's question, Kakashi felt a bit uneasy; based on his knowledge of A Kai and comparing to a similar idiot like Dai Tu, he wouldn't just let it go so easily.

At that moment, Yuanfei A Si Ma walked over to their seats, casually sitting beside Kakashi and slinging an arm around his neck: "Kakashi, that move earlier was pretty good. And Chao, after school, shall we go eat ramen together? My treat!"

Needless to say, as the son of the Third Hokage, Yuanfei A Si Ma is indeed a wealthy brat.

Even the most mature kids are still kids; there's no need for all the roundabout talk—who's stronger naturally draws attention.

For Asuma, having money, the simplest way to get along with others is to spend it.

"Then I won't refuse."

Qimu Chao smiled and accepted the invitation.

Qimu Shuomao usually gave a decent allowance, but split between the two brothers it wasn't as much as Asuma's, especially since Asuma's older brother, already a Chunin, also gives him allowance, making Asuma's pocket money the largest in the class.

He didn't mind the invitation to Kakashi; if someone's treating, why not go?

And so, the day's lessons ended without a ripple.
