Chapter 1061: Shocking Save (2)
Chapter 1061
"E-Em-Emperor Julius?!"
Kael lifted his head upward to look at where the Zodiac Two had been yanked toward and his gaze narrowed instantly.
"Old geezer? The hell are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be in bed? I specifically told you that you weren’t needed in this war."
"..."
Julius turned his golden gaze in Kael’s direction.
"I’m not needed, yet you were about to be sliced open like a chicken. Fool."
"Set him down and leave now!"
"I’m the Emperor of this Kingdom. I can’t sit back and watch these bastards raze everything to the ground." As he said that, he glared in Lucien’s direction, his grip tightening across the man’s neck.
After his initial shock, the opponent quickly regained his composure and then sneered in the direction of the ruler.
"Julius, Julius... have you forgotten your condition? Do you want to worsen your health?"
"..."
"... How dare you want to do that to Kael, Lucien?" Julius questioned as his gaze narrowed on the man in his grip.
"I have the right to do any and whatever I want, you bastard!" Lucien thundered as the earth rushed upward in the form of giant pillars that instantly flanked the Emperor’s side.
Letting go of Lucien’s neck, the Emperor sank into the shadows almost immediately.
The pillars crashed into each other with a loud boom that resounded against the air.
Rising out of the shadows in another direction, Julius pointed his hand forward and soon enough, a humongous fireball roared outward and rushed toward the Zodiac with full speed.
Lucien didn’t back down as he twisted his neck a few times, causing loud cracks to be heard.
Swinging his hand forward, an equal-sized fireball burst forward, colliding with Julius’ in a fierce explosion that sent an enormous blast of wind in all directions.
The shockwave from the clash sent a thunderous wind that shattered the earth bindings around the group and flung them aside like they were ragdolls.
"Go help the others on the battlefield and leave him for me," Julius ordered as he saw Lucien darting forward while manipulating the earth to make himself seem faster.
Kael clenched his jaws, refusing to leave his father to face Lucien alone.
He knew how powerful the Emperor used to be, but after his first clash with the Otherworlders that cracked his mana core, he wasn’t how he used to be.
How was Kael supposed to leave Julius knowing well that each spell and attack he cast brings him closer to death’s door?
"GOOO!" Julius bellowed as ice rapidly formed in the air and launched toward Lucien with blinding speed.
The Zodiac, on seeing this, quickly began twisting and weaving, dodging each of the ice spikes sent his way.
Kael gritted his teeth for several seconds before sinking into the shadows and leaving the battlefield for the two powerhouses.
Ducking under an ice spike, flames howled around Lucien’s fist, which he jabbed forward with crushing weight, shattering the sound barrier.
A tunnel of fire burst outward, speeding toward the Emperor.
However, Julius calmly swung his hand and a shadow portal yawned open, swallowing the attack like it was nothing.
Lucien was about to take a step forward when strings coiled around his legs, restricting him for a second.
The next moment, he was suddenly yanked forward with brutal force, rocketing toward Julius.
Within a blink, an ice club appeared in the Emperor’s hands, which he swung forward with all his might.
The club shattered against Lucien’s face with brutal strength, such that the white in his eyes flickered for a moment before he crashed into the earth hard.
Sinking into the shadows, Julius was gone immediately.
It was just in time, as the ground in the space he had occupied moments prior caved in instantly, as if trying to sink him within it.
"You forgot? I hand-picked you myself and made you one of my second-in-command, so I know what you are capable of."
Lucien shot upright, twisting and turning, searching for the voice.
Shadows rippled beneath his feet like water, and rising from their depths with blistering speed, flame arrows shot toward the man.
Lucien quickly bound backward as the arrows sliced the space he had just occupied.
He wasn’t allowed to rest, as shadowy hands surged upward, clamping around his legs and holding him in place.
Lucien was stumped.
How was he in his breakthrough and being overwhelmed by a literal dying man?
’Wait... that’s not right.’
Lifting his gaze, he spotted Julius, who was rising out of the ground with blood dribbling down his lips repeatedly.
"Are you crazy? You are really going all out regardless of your condition? Do you want to die here?!"
The Emperor calmly tilted his head with a mock smile on his face.
"Oh? You now care for me? Ha! Besides, if I die after taking down an Otherworlder, I will be glad, as I know I did something for my Kingdom instead of laying in bed."
"..."
Lucien frowned deeply as the earth began to rumble around him, ready to burst him out of the shadowy hands.
The Emperor thought for a second before adding,
"... Besides, I’m not even going ou—"
The trembling of the earth was now growing more profound.
Then, shooting out of the shadowy hands, Kael could be seen with his body crackling in lethal lightning.
In his hand was an incredibly long lightning spear that was thrust forward with blazing speed.
Lucien’s eyes stretched wide as the earth moved to his command, speeding toward his position in order to protect him.
But due to the fact that the shadowy hands Kael had emerged from were literally around his legs, coupled with the fact that the lightning element was surrounding the young man, he was ten times faster than the slow earth.
"Bye, uncle Lucien."
Tchaaaaak! Booom—!
The spear ripped through the opponent’s defenses with searing force, and a mini-explosion blew outward from behind the Zodiac.
The shadows loosened, and Lucien’s body crashed into the ground with a loud thud.
Upper Zodiac Two was defeated.
Julius dropped to his knees, panting and coughing violently like one who was about to have an attack.
Blood poured from his mouth repeatedly.
Kael was about to move forward when Julius’ head snapped toward a certain location.
’The fight isn’t over. My work isn’t done yet.’
He sank into the shadows instantly, causing Kael to halt mid-stride.
