Chapter 5: Giant Sangshi, Refined for Personal Use
Chen Yusheng had only focused on cultivating for one day before he had to stop.
A feeling of overwhelming hunger surged in his stomach again; once hungry, his cultivation speed slowed down significantly.
Although he had started practicing True Qi, he had not yet reached the stage of Bigu; True Qi could at most provide energy for his body, but it could not provide material sustenance.
He could not accept a slow cultivation speed, so he had to go out again to find enough food.
That day, Chen Yusheng tucked an Exorcism Talisman drawn with True Qi into his clothes and headed straight out the door.
Walking down the street, he was quickly discovered by Sangshi, but whenever these Sangshi came within ten meters of him, they would immediately brake, roar, and retreat, not daring to cross the line no matter what.
Chen Yusheng caught a Sangshi to test the effect of the Exorcism Talisman and found that if he forcibly trapped the Sangshi within the talisman's range, the Sangshi would immediately show a pained expression.
This pain seemed to be at the level of the soul; the closer it was to the talisman, the more intense the pain.
A Sangshi generally could not last more than ten seconds before losing consciousness, which had the same effect as being suppressed by a Soul-Suppressing Talisman.
It seemed that the effect of the Exorcism Talisman was also targeted at the soul, and for monsters like Sangshi with incomplete souls, the effect was surprisingly good.
The Warding Off Evil Talisman was mainly for warding off evil, and most evil spirits had incomplete souls; the more incomplete an evil spirit's soul was, the greater the damage the Exorcism Talisman would inflict upon it.
Of course, while the Exorcism Talisman damaged the Sangshi, its own energy consumption would also accelerate, so this talisman was best used for driving Sangshi away, and there was no need to use it as a Soul-Suppressing Talisman.
Chen Yusheng walked and searched, not letting a single convenience store or small supermarket along the way go.
Just as Chen Yusheng had been searching for over half an hour, a heaven-shaking roar suddenly exploded.
Chen Yusheng looked up and saw, at an intersection several hundred meters away, a giant Sangshi over three meters tall had appeared, standing there like an iron tower, looking terrifying.
"What the hell is this thing?"
Chen Yusheng had never imagined that a Sangshi could mutate to such a massive size.
At the same time he saw the giant Sangshi, that giant Sangshi also locked onto him, tilted its head and let out a roar, then took long strides and charged fiercely toward him, the ground even vibrating slightly.
Seeing this situation, Chen Yusheng did not dare to meet it head-on and immediately turned to retreat into a building nearby.
This was clearly a mutated Sangshi, and he was not at all sure if the Exorcism Talisman would work on it, so for safety's sake, he had to find a way to kill it first.
Retreating to the stairwell of the building, Chen Yusheng finally stopped, and while beginning to draw a talisman in the void, he compressed the range of the Exorcism Talisman to three or four meters.
In less than ten seconds, a Soul-Suppressing Talisman was drawn.
During this time, the building and the entrance were already crowded with ordinary Sangshi that had come smelling his scent, a dark, dense mass of them.
Roar!
The giant Sangshi's roar sounded again, followed immediately by a loud bang.
Accompanied by the clattering sound of wall fragments, dust instantly filled the air.
Chen Yusheng took a look and, good heavens, this giant Sangshi had actually crashed through a wall and charged in through the hole!
"How much strength must this take?" Chen Yusheng was startled.
This brute force was just like an excavator!
There was no time to think; Chen Yusheng raised his hand and pushed, and the Soul-Suppressing Talisman flew out instantly, accurately slamming into the giant Sangshi's head and exploding.
A Soul-Suppressing Talisman drawn with True Qi was not only several times more powerful than one drawn with primordial Qi, but its suppression range was also over ten meters larger.
With this explosion, the surrounding ordinary Sangshi fell down in swathes like harvested wheat, instantly lying all over the ground.
However, after being hit by the talisman, the giant Sangshi did not fall immediately; it just swayed unsteadily, as if drunk, and continued to walk toward Chen Yusheng.
Seeing this, Chen Yusheng gasped, not daring to delay; his hands continued to draw talismans in the void without stopping, while simultaneously expanding the range of the Exorcism Talisman to directly envelop the giant Sangshi.
Roar, roar, roar!
The giant Sangshi immediately let out a painful roar, its voice full of violence, but it stubbornly refused to retreat, continuing to stagger forward.
Chen Yusheng retreated while drawing talismans, his hand movements not slowing down in the slightest.
A few seconds later, a second Soul-Suppressing Talisman took shape.
"Go!"
Chen Yusheng pushed his right hand forward fiercely, and the Soul-Suppressing Talisman hit the giant Sangshi accurately again, exploding on its head.
Thud!
This time, after taking two Soul-Suppressing Talismans condensed from True Qi, the giant Sangshi finally could not hold on, crashing to the ground with a boom and falling silent.
Chen Yusheng did not dare to be careless; he grabbed his fire axe and charged up, raising his hand to hack fiercely at the giant Sangshi's neck.
Bang!
With a dull thud, Chen Yusheng felt his entire arm go numb, and the web of his hand ached.
The giant Sangshi's neck was as hard as steel; one axe blow only left a shallow mark.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
He hacked several more times in succession, but the result was the same; he could not break its defense at all.
Chen Yusheng stopped, but a thought suddenly lit up in his mind.
"This thing is simply excellent material for corpse refining!"
He immediately bit his index finger and used the blood from his fingertip, combined with True Qi, to quickly draw a talisman on the giant Sangshi's body.
Before long, a Soul-Suppressing Talisman was drawn on the giant Sangshi's face.
Chen Yusheng sensed the energy consumption of the talisman; this talisman could suppress the giant Sangshi for at least an hour, which was enough time.
Next, he had to clear out the ordinary Sangshi on the ground first; he absolutely could not be disturbed while wanting to refine this giant Sangshi, and it would be bad if these Sangshi woke up and caused trouble.
Chen Yusheng carried his fire axe and began to quickly harvest the ordinary Sangshi on the ground, his hand rising and falling, every strike aimed at the neck.
In less than ten minutes, over a hundred ordinary Sangshi were all dealt with by him.
After dealing with the ordinary Sangshi, Chen Yusheng returned to the front of the giant Sangshi.
Next, he bit his finger again and used his own blood mixed with True Qi to draw dense, blood-colored patterns all over the giant Sangshi's body and head.
Half an hour later, the giant Sangshi was covered from head to toe in blood-colored patterns, looking quite eerie.
"Conceal!"
Chen Yusheng quickly formed seals with both hands and let out a low shout.
In an instant, the blood-colored patterns on the giant Sangshi lit up with a red glow; the red light flickered for less than ten seconds before slowly dissipating, and those patterns vanished along with it, as if they had melted into the giant Sangshi's body, leaving not a single trace behind.
"Wake up!"
Chen Yusheng formed seals again and gave a command in a deep voice.
The next second, the giant Sangshi that had been lying down suddenly opened its eyes, a pair of murky pupils now revealing a hint of clarity.
It scrambled up abruptly and stood like an iron tower beside Chen Yusheng, respectful and deferential, with not a shred of ferocity left.
Chen Yusheng tested a command: "Go, punch a hole through that wall."
Upon hearing this, the giant Sangshi did not say a word; it took long strides to the wall beside it, clenched its massive fist, and smashed it down fiercely.
Boom!
With a loud crash, the wall was smashed directly into a large hole, and rubble fell down with a rustling sound.
"Not bad, not bad. From now on, you shall be called Dali." Chen Yusheng was overjoyed; he had gained a super-strong helper.
