Chapter 1165: Seeing Natasha Again (First Update!)
Hawk had originally thought that Andy's claim that she was the leader of the resistance here was just a joke.
After all, there were only a few dozen people here in total, and they all looked malnourished at first glance. Resistance? Don't make me laugh; it's just a survivor's base camp.
Facts proved that Hawk was wrong.
Especially when Hawk followed Andy silently to the agreed meeting place with Black Widow Natasha, weaving through underground tunnels that seemed to be artificially dug, and seeing that every junction point was guarded, only then did he realize.
"You really are the leader of the resistance."
"I never thought of becoming a leader."
Andy, walking beside Hawk, glanced at him upon hearing this: "It wasn't me who chose them, but them who chose me. They trust me. So, if you lie to me, and if Natasha Romanoff doesn't know you, I will kill you immediately."
Nowadays, Hydra is powerful, occupying almost half of the Federation, and all who oppose them have met bloody suppression.
Even because of the Scarlet Witch, no one can pretend to submit and infiltrate Niuyuecheng, which is now under their rule.
Because before the Scarlet Witch, there are no secrets.
And the Avengers have suffered all-out pursuit by Hydra, the Scarlet Witch, and that Superman.
Doctor Strange had his head cruelly crushed by the Scarlet Witch.
Dr. Bruce Banner had his head blown off by a single punch from the Superman resurrected by the Scarlet Witch.
And just as the Scarlet Witch and Superman were about to level the Avengers' base, those super-beings who had once chosen to join the Howling Commandos formed by Captain America because of Captain America's glory stepped forward again, using their lives to delay time, allowing Captain America, Iron Man, and others to leave Niuyuecheng at the last moment.
To preserve their fighting strength and seek the day of restoration.
But this wait lasted five years.
During these five years, the Earth was almost openly occupied by Hydra, and the Purifiers under that Superman's command constantly shuttled around the globe, seeking out and eliminating one by one the resistors or survivors who harbored disloyalty towards them.
And just when almost everyone was about to lose hope.
Exactly one year ago, a prophecy appeared from somewhere and quickly spread among all the resistors.
"What prophecy?"
"I don't know."
Andy shook his head: "Just as I just said, Natasha Romanoff only contacted us recently."
Hawk raised an eyebrow: "How do you know the person coming is Natasha Romanoff?"
Andy shook his head again.
"I'm not sure."
"Then..."
"You've seen it too; we are almost out of ammunition and supplies here."
Andy made a bitter smile expression: "Ever since half a year ago, when we ambushed the enemies Hydra sent to take over this place, the Superman's Purifiers have been watching this spot. Whenever there is any movement, he appears, so the supplies in our base have become critical. Just yesterday, the partner responsible for the East City sent word that someone claiming to be Natasha Romanoff had arrived, and she even brought the supplies we needed. This is also why I went out with a backpack today."
Hearing Andy's words, Hawk glanced at the big red bag on Andy's back, nodded, then looked at Andy: "Don't worry; I definitely won't be your enemy."
Andy looked at Hawk expressionlessly: "Promises are not spoken, but made. Once again, if Natasha Romanoff says she doesn't know you, I will still kill you. I won't let you leave."
Hawk smiled and nodded.
"Okay."
"Let's go."
Andy fell silent, led the way ahead, and took Hawk through the artificially excavated underground tunnels, walking silently towards the direction of the East City.
Half an hour later.
Hearing the connection success prompt sound from the earpiece that had been quiet for a long time, Hawk guessed they might have arrived.
Indeed.
As the earpiece transmitted the conversation between Andy and a strange voice, Hawk saw the dead end before him suddenly move aside, revealing a pipe-like tunnel. After passing through the pipe tunnel, he saw two middle-aged white men with Hu Zi, also holding cold weapons.
"Leader."
"Has that Natasha's identity been confirmed?"
"Asked a few questions; they all matched, and the appearance is indeed Natasha, and she also accepted our arrangements."
"Good."
Upon hearing this, Andy nodded, then seeing the two men's gazes fall on Hawk who was following him, introduced while seated: "This is Hawk. If nothing unexpected happens, he is newly joining us."
Upon hearing this, the white man's eyes lit up, extending his right hand towards Hawk: "Great, welcome to the team, buddy."
Hawk smiled slightly and shook hands with the white man who extended a friendly hand to him.
"Thanks, buddy."
"Let's go."
Seeing the two shaking hands, Andy said nothing more, directly said a phrase, and then, led by the two companions, proceeded to Natasha's current location.
Quickly.
Andy and Hawk saw Natasha, who was also under the guard of two resistors.
Similarly.
Natasha also saw Hawk and Andy walking in from outside immediately.
Her gaze first fell on Andy, but quickly shifted to Hawk, and then her pupils contracted rapidly at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Hawk could even feel that in that instant, Natasha directly entered combat mode, and her muscles adjusted to their optimal state at that moment.
The next second.
"Black Hawk!"
Natasha let out a sudden roar, without hesitation, pressed one hand on the table, and her right leg, with muscles tensed, shot straight at Hawk and Andy like a cannonball.
At this moment, Andy had already confirmed that the Natasha before him was indeed Black Widow.
Because she had no time to react before seeing Natasha's right leg aimed at her.
Fortunately, Hawk acted in time from the side, extending his right hand, pinched the ankle Natasha was thrusting, and made a lifting motion.
Natasha performed a backflip in midair, then landed in her classic entrance pose, supporting herself with one hand on the table, tilting her head up, and looking at Hawk, who stood shielding Andy behind him.
Their eyes met.
Hawk smiled and said, "I am indeed Hawk, but I am not black."
As expected!
The Superman that Andy had spoken of, the one responsible for Earth's current state, was truly this ambiguous version of himself.
But Andy did not know that Superman's name; the Avengers did, yet to distinguish him, they had specifically named this ambiguous Hawk "Black Hawk"!
Hearing Hawk's words, Natasha's eyes narrowed once more.
"Hawk?"
"The real deal."
"Prove it to me."
Natasha still looked at Hawk with vigilance: "On the Soul Planet, I asked you a question. You told me something then. What was it?"
Hawk's thoughts shifted; he looked at Natasha, who was still on the table in a combat stance: "Because we are friends."
The moment those words were spoken.
Natasha, who had been in a combat stance the previous second, instantly dropped it the next; yet her eyes widened again, no longer filled with vigilance but replaced by utter disbelief.
"Hawk?"
"Again, the real deal."
Hawk watched Natasha, who was once more confirming to herself that he was indeed himself, then looked at Natasha, who, though having dropped her combat alertness, still held her classic pose on the table, and asked curiously: "By the way, doesn't holding that pose tire you out?"
Natasha paused, then, once she realized what she was doing, hopped off the table and immediately embraced Hawk.
Hawk raised an eyebrow, looked at Natasha hugging him, then glanced at Andy, whose expression was unreadable, and smiled: "See, I told you, Natasha and I are truly friends."
Andy came to his senses and looked at Hawk with an unreadable expression.
"Who are you?"
"Hawk!"
Hawk smiled and repeated it once more.
Ten minutes later.
No wonder Natasha is a professional agent; she had already recovered from the initial shock, disbelief, and excitement.
Hawk and Natasha sat facing each other.
"Hawk, how did you..."
"Someone was using my name to make a spectacle; I naturally had to come and see."
Hawk said as much, then looked at Natasha: "So, that so-called Superman really is me?"
