Chapter 45: Work Half-Done, the Dao Collapses Mid-Way!

~3 min read 433 words

The next day.

On his way to his summer job at Oscorp Industries by subway, Hawk was still thinking about the Gamma Stone he had left at the Quantico military base.

He had already thought it through.

If he wanted to go to the Quantico military base and seize it by force, there was only one way.

A quick strike.

He could not drag it out.

After all, the place he was planning to storm was the Quantico military base, not just any other location.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation Academy was there.

Even the famous Langley headquarters was there.

To put it bluntly.

Running off to rob Quantico was no different than taking a dump on the heads of the federal military, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Zhongqing Bureau.

But...

Even if it meant taking a dump on the heads of the military, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Zhongqing Bureau, he had to go.

The Gamma Stone.

He was determined to get it.

"However..."

"Success depends on preparation; without preparation, failure is certain."

"I need to go to Quantico first and scout the location."

"At the very least, I should conduct a field survey and map out an escape route."

As Hawk thought silently to himself, he swiped his card, walked into the Oscorp Industries building, and returned to the Bioengineering Department.

Immediately after...

He was called into the supervisor's office.

The future Electro, Max Dillon, was also there.

The middle-aged supervisor, who was balding and looked as if he had no desires left, had an ugly expression on his face. After a moment of silence, he said to Max Dillon, "Starting today, you are transferred to the maintenance team."

Max Dillon was stunned upon hearing this.

"Supervisor, I..."

"I haven't finished speaking."

The supervisor cut Max Dillon off, then looked at Hawk and sighed, "Hawk, you're fired, but you can collect this week's wages."

Hawk blinked.

He wasn't as shocked as Max; although he had already guessed the reason, he still looked at the supervisor very calmly.

"May I ask why?"

"The accident in Dr. Connors' lab yesterday."

As expected.

Hawk said to himself.

Max, standing to the side, hurriedly said upon hearing this, "Supervisor, what does the power outage have to do with us? Our bio-electricity is only for the building's daily power supply; the equipment power for the various departments is not..."

The supervisor covered his forehead: "That's enough. This is not a discussion, it's a decision. You go out first, Hawk stay behind."

Max stood frozen in place, then looked at Hawk beside him.
