Chapter 688: The Truth Behind the Broken Home (Part 1!)

~7 min read 1,285 words

At the hour of dawn!

Room 123 in Westview.

Hawk sat by the bedside of his daughter, Jean, reading *Grimm's Fairy Tales*. Jean's eyelids began to flutter, and eventually, her small hand tugged at Hawk's sleeve as she drifted off to sleep.

Just as he had done when he was contracting the timeline.

Hawk did not stop immediately; he finished the story completely, folded the corner of the page after turning it, placed it on the nightstand, kissed Jean on the forehead, and then rose to leave the room.

Then...

He walked toward the guest room that overlooked the house across the street—the house where Amy was staying.

He pushed the door open.

Inside.

At the guest room window, Gwen and Wanda were each sitting on small stools, watching the house across the street with rapt attention.

Sure enough.

When it comes to gossip, a woman's energy is boundless; they don't feel the slightest bit bothered by staying up all night.

And...

The bond between women is often maintained by a single piece of gossip.

Just like right now.

Not only did Gwen think that Amy buying a car and withdrawing cash meant she was planning to elope with Andrew, but Wanda felt the same way.

And so.

Anticipating that it might happen tonight, the two women had moved their small stools here as soon as the lights went out in the house across the street at ten o'clock.

Gwen turned to look at Hawk as he entered.

"Is Jean asleep?"

"Yes."

Hawk replied, then glanced up at the house across the street. Through his x-ray vision, he saw Amy sitting on the sofa in the dark, not choosing to go to bed, seemingly waiting for something.

Just then.

The message came through the web formed by his Seventh Sense, which covered the entire five-kilometer radius of Westview.

A specific fish had entered the net.

"He's here."

Hawk arched a brow and looked five kilometers outside of Westview.

In his sight.

Under the bright moon and scattered stars, a blood-red figure was streaking toward Westview at the speed of an afterimage.

In the blink of an eye, the figure went from five kilometers away to four kilometers.

Three kilometers.

Two kilometers.

One kilometer.

Five hundred meters.

Entering the town.

The blood-red figure landed silently in the backyard of Amy's house like a ghost.

The visitor looked up, bathed in moonlight.

The man had short hair, messy stubble, and a face that looked as if he had been sleeping in the wild for a long time.

Although the man had aged, and his thick beard had turned into stubble.

But...

It was indeed Andrew Croy.

Almost the moment Andrew landed in the backyard, Amy, who had been sitting on the sofa, seemed to sense something. She looked toward the backyard, and upon seeing Andrew, her eyes filled with surprise and joy before she stood up.

The next second.

Andrew, who had also walked in from the backyard, looked at Amy running toward him. A happy smile of long-awaited reunion appeared on his wind-worn face.

The two embraced tightly.

Amy held Andrew close, her hands gripping his back tightly, letting tears slide from the corners of her eyes.

Even though she had seen Andrew last night.

But...

She had been sleeping too soundly last night and thought it was a dream.

But today!

"God, I knew you weren't dead."

"This is wonderful."

Amy murmured, holding Andrew tightly.

Andrew pulled Amy into his arms, stroking her hair. Upon hearing her words, his voice sounded muffled: "Don't mention that damned name. Everything that happened to our family is his fault."

Yes.

After he was resurrected by the two angels—one named Jack and the other Alan—he finally figured out the reason after a long time.

Yes.

Although he was just a small person who didn't even qualify for college, and at his worst, worked three jobs a day to support himself and his wife, Amy.

But...

Even small people have their own wisdom.

After being resurrected, although Andrew didn't understand why these two angels, Jack and Alan, had killed him and then brought him back.

But he was certain.

These two had ulterior motives.

Sure enough!

After he was converted into a so-called Blood Angel by these two, several years passed, and he finally managed to pry the truth out of them after a night of drinking.

The truth sounded absurd.

Andrew didn't want to believe it, but it was indeed the case.

His son was too outstanding.

So outstanding that when his son grew up, he actually threatened Yahweh and shouted, "The Lord has fallen, today it is my turn."

And then...

God was not pleased.

His son not only ruined several of Yahweh's plans but even killed one of Yahweh's projections. Therefore, God sent three angels, splitting them into two groups to prevent his son from discovering them.

One angel passed through his son's timeline.

The other two angels, Jack and Alan, passed through his timeline. Upon landing, they severed their own angelic wings, completely blocking his son's discovery, and killed him.

In this way, his son would become an orphan, his son would be adopted by the church, and there, under the influence of the Lord, he would get used to the Lord, worship the Lord, and then obey the Lord.

Upon learning all this, Andrew was so angry he felt he might explode.

He wanted to kill the drunken Jack and Alan on the spot.

But he couldn't.

Because Yahweh's layout didn't stop there.

Andrew also learned one more thing from Jack and Alan.

The reason Yahweh could not manifest on Earth was that Mephisto, the ruler of the Hell dimension, had snatched Earth from his hands.

And if he wanted to project Yahweh's glory back onto Earth, he had to obtain the authority over life and death on Earth.

This required killing Mephisto first.

Ever since Yahweh was driven out of Earth by Mephisto, Yahweh's backup plans had actually been in preparation.

And Jack and Alan were the guards of the newborn Death Angel.

They would arrive there before the Death Angel awakened and, as guards, let the Death Angel launch the war for Hell, kill Mephisto, and then lead the entire Hell dimension to surrender to Heaven.

As for him.

Even if his son continued on the path of rebelling against Yahweh, once the authority over life and death on Earth was in hand, he could use his bloodline to threaten his son.

How could he allow that?

He absolutely would not allow such a thing to happen.

And so—

Andrew pretended to know nothing, silently enduring, following Jack and Alan, and lurking in the Holy Land of Heaven.

He saw the true face of the so-called holiness there.

Indecency.

Sodomy!

This made Andrew feel exceptionally disgusted, but in order to see his wife again, and to see his son and daughter.

He endured it silently.

Until—

One day, while Jack and Alan followed others to the basement for a revelry, a letter arrived from a certain church, from someone named Moxi.

He took a look.

Without hesitation, he tore up the letter, and after years of enduring, he finally erupted, taking advantage of the fact that Jack and Alan were caught off guard, and left that place.

Andrew had originally intended to run off and eliminate that so-called Death Angel, completely cutting off Yahweh's ambition to return to Earth.

But he failed.

Fortunately, he managed to slip away at the last moment, hid on a cargo ship, and when he woke up again, he saw the towering Statue of Liberty in the distance.

Andrew thought of his wife, his son, and his daughter.
