Chapter 95: Marvel: Awakening the Cosmo at the Start, Chapter 44
And this was no illusion.
It was intuition; if the Lizard had been aiming for him just now, let alone hitting him, even if the Lizard had managed to graze him, it would have meant all his hard work over the past two and a half years had gone to waste.
Hawk had just been thinking about grabbing Gwen and leaving the scene at supersonic speed.
But just as he was about to do it, a series of consequences flashed through his mind.
For instance...
Gwen would be unable to withstand the sudden acceleration, causing her entire body to be crushed as if by an invisible giant hand.
Or for instance...
Gwen’s body would be torn apart by the lethal air resistance.
After all, he could move at supersonic speeds and his body could handle it, but Gwen could not, which was why he changed his mind in that split second and chose to endure the Lizard’s attack.
So this had nothing to do with him not wanting to expose himself in front of his classmates.
He was not afraid of exposure, nor did he care about it.
As for the idea of playing the pig to eat the tiger, that didn't exist at all.
Even when he was robbing Quantico, he had at most worn a hoodie and a medical mask; he hadn't even worn gloves. If Quantico had investigated thoroughly, it would actually have been possible to find him.
After all, he hadn't done anything to conceal himself when he was scouting the location during the day; a simple investigation or a dynamic comparison would have been enough to match him.
In short.
He wasn't even afraid of being exposed to the military, let alone here.
Hawk just didn't want Gwen to get hurt.
Gwen, who had also recovered from the shock, subconsciously shook her head and said she was fine, then her eyes suddenly widened.
"Look out!"
"Boom!"
Hawk threw a punch, the force of which slammed into the desk the Lizard had swung with its tail, and the desk instantly shattered in mid-air.
"You go out first."
"Be careful, his strength is a bit exaggerated."
Peter, who was currently clinging to the wall like a real spider, called out a warning.
To be precise, it was exaggerated to an excessive degree.
If the Lizard’s strength had been 1 back on the Williamsburg Bridge, then the Lizard’s strength now was 3.
Fortunately, he was a spider-mutant, and his healing speed was also quite exaggerated.
But Peter knew Hawk was strong, yet he had never seen Hawk in action, so upon realizing Hawk intended to step in, he still called out a warning.
Of course.
Peter’s voice at this moment was somewhat different from his real voice; compared to his real voice, Peter’s voice now was a bit deeper.
This made Gwen glance at him subconsciously, but she then nodded at Hawk.
"Then you be careful."
"Okay."
Hawk smiled slightly.
Gwen then turned around, preparing to find a safe zone.
But the moment Gwen turned to flee, the Lizard’s pupils contracted, and it pushed off with its legs, leaping into the air and pouncing toward Gwen once again.
"Holy shit!"
"You're looking for death!"
The first sentence was said by Peter; seeing this scene, Peter kept his feet stuck to the wall and thrust both hands out, firing two strands of webbing that instantly snapped onto the airborne Lizard, causing the Lizard, which was pouncing toward Gwen, to stall in mid-air for a moment.
The latter sentence was said by Hawk.
When Hawk saw the Lizard trying to kill Gwen right in front of him, his voice turned cold and sharp.
The next second.
Bang!
Accompanied by a sonic boom, Hawk vanished from where he stood, appearing in the air in the blink of an eye, standing before the Lizard, and landed a light punch on the Lizard’s chest.
Crack!
The Lizard’s chest collapsed with the impact, instantly exposing the mutated heart within, and immediately after, its body flew backward like a kite with a broken string, whistling through the air.
Peter was also sent flying backward along with it.
His two strands of webbing were still stuck to the Lizard’s back, so when the Lizard was sent flying by Hawk’s punch, he was dragged along by the force, screaming as he flew back with it.
Fortunately, Peter reacted in time, cut the two strands of webbing, performed a backflip in mid-air, and stuck his limbs to the library ceiling, absorbing the momentum.
But the Lizard was not so lucky.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
The Lizard, flying backward, smashed through a row of bookshelves in the second-floor library, and finally, accompanied by the continuous sound of collapsing shelves, its back slammed into the second-floor wall; the wall instantly cracked, which also stopped the Lizard from retreating any further.
And all of this happened in the blink of an eye.
After sending the Lizard flying, Hawk appeared beside Gwen in a flash: "Are you okay, Gwen?"
Gwen shook her head blankly.
Her mind was still stuck on the image of the airborne Lizard pouncing toward her.
Dr. Connors wanted to kill her?
Why?
There was no reason for this.
Peter had already dropped from the ceiling onto the second floor, where a row of bookshelves had been destroyed and the floor had been cracked by the Lizard’s tail, and then he saw the Lizard’s miserable state.
At a glance.
The Lizard’s chest was completely collapsed, and fragments were embedded throughout the exposed mutated heart.
The mutated heart was thumping, but the speed was getting slower and slower, and the green color on the Lizard’s body was gradually fading.
One strike!
The Lizard was dying!
