Chapter 12

~7 min read 1,320 words

He gasped for air, breathing heavily.

Even now, his mind was still in a daze.

He had no idea what had just happened.

That rich kid he had looked down upon earlier—

had actually caught his dart, and red light had shot from his eyes.

It was insane, so insane he couldn't bring himself to believe it.

Just then, the pain in his right arm flared up again.

Bullseye glanced at his dissolved right arm.

He had no choice but to believe it.

And after the other party dissolved his arm, what happened next?

Why did he just walk away?

"Fuck! What rotten luck."

After a long while, Bullseye cursed and struggled to his feet.

He silently pulled out his phone and called his subordinates at the bar.

He told those lackeys to leave with him.

After all, that was what the man had said when he left.

If he didn't do as the other party said, Bullseye wasn't sure if he would stay alive.

In reality, Bullseye didn't know.

The only reason he was still alive was because of Skye.

If Karl had been there alone,

he wouldn't have bothered with words; he would have just killed this guy, Bullseye.

But Skye was with him.

Karl didn't want to commit murder in front of her.

After all, Skye was just an ordinary person now.

She wasn't a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, and she hadn't even awakened her own superpowers.

An ordinary person probably wouldn't feel comfortable seeing such a bloody scene.

So he simply let Bullseye live a little longer.

Anyway, Karl would go to settle the score with Kingpin sooner or later.

……

On the other side, Karl and Skye returned to his bar.

Karl ordered two drinks.

Then, standing by the bar, he watched the crowd on the dance floor with a calm expression.

Skye had been staring at Karl the whole time.

Suddenly, Karl turned his head and chuckled, "What's wrong? Am I that good-looking?" "Don't be so full of yourself!"

Skye snorted and ignored him.

After a while, she couldn't help but ask curiously, "Do you really have superpowers?" Karl joked, "Money powers? Of course, you know I'm very rich." Skye rolled her eyes at him, "I mean that ability from just now, the one where your eyes glow." "What else? Didn't you see it with your own eyes?"

"Fine."

Skye nodded upon hearing this; it was true.

Although it was hard to believe, she had seen it.

Karl had used heat vision to dissolve Bullseye's arm.

"Then what kind of superpowers do you have?"

"A lot. Flight, super speed, super strength, bio-fields, things like that." "It feels pretty much like that Superman from the comics."

Karl didn't hide it and gave a rough summary of his abilities.

"Superman? Isn't that super powerful?"

Skye asked curiously, "Then can you take me flying?"

After all, humanity's dream of flight had never ceased.

Now that there was a chance, Skye naturally wanted to experience it.

"Sure," Karl smiled and finished his drink.

Then, he gently wrapped his arm around Skye's waist.

The two figures vanished from the bar.

Almost at the same time,

Karl and Skye appeared in the air.

Watching the scenery receding rapidly below, Skye was thrilled and couldn't help but cheer.

The two arrived at the top of the Empire State Building.

This was a famous landmark, four hundred meters high, overlooking the entire United States.

It was rated as one of the seven wonders of the modern world.

Feeling the evening breeze, Skye was in a very pleasant mood.

Seeing her like this, Karl felt quite good himself.

He smiled, "Shall we step away for a moment?"

"Huh? Why?"

"You'll see in a second."

As he spoke, Karl held Skye's slender waist.

The next moment, they appeared in Karl's home.

After grabbing two glasses and a bottle of red wine,

the two figures appeared back at the top of the Empire State Building.

Karl opened the wine, poured it, and handed a glass to Skye.

Skye smiled and raised her glass, "Cheers!"

After finishing the wine, Skye was slightly tipsy.

She even took the initiative to kiss him.

Karl kissed her back, and then the two figures vanished again.

Karl felt it was time to go to Skye's place.

To see how the quality of the new bed was.

……

Three hours later.

Karl looked at the sleeping Skye and went into the bathroom to wash up.

Well, the new bed was quite sturdy.

You get what you pay for.

After washing up, Karl used his super vision to search around.

Soon, he found Bullseye.

Bullseye was currently at a pier.

Surrounded by dozens of lackeys in black suits, he looked quite imposing.

In a stretch limousine not far away, there even sat a burly bald man.

This man was two meters tall, covered in muscle, like a small giant.

Kingpin.

New York Port.

At this moment, Daredevil, wearing a red suit, was hiding in a corner of the pier.

Daredevil's name was Matthew Michael Murdock.

He was a superhero in the Marvel world.

He had been blinded in an accident when he was a child.

But the blindness had greatly enhanced his other senses.

He could even hear sounds from several kilometers away.

Daredevil had practiced boxing and combat since he was young, and his speed and strength were far beyond that of an ordinary person.

Thus, by day, Matthew worked as an upright lawyer.

By night, he transformed into Daredevil to punish criminals.

His ears twitched, instantly perceiving the situation nearby.

Daredevil's expression turned grim.

"Kingpin actually came in person..."

Not long ago, he had taken down a few small-time underground bosses.

And accidentally learned some news.

Tonight, there was a large amount of smuggled goods at the pier.

Including narcotics and firearms.

As a superhero, he couldn't just sit by and watch once he knew about this.

Having learned the news in advance, Daredevil had prepared and was lying in ambush here.

However, what he hadn't expected was

that this smuggling operation involved the underground emperor of New York, Kingpin.

As a superhero, Daredevil naturally fought criminals often.

Kingpin's business spanned the entire United States.

Daredevil had disrupted many of Kingpin's businesses and had even been wounded by him.

The grudge between the two couldn't be explained in just a few words.

Originally, it was already hard for Daredevil to win against Kingpin.

In their previous battles, he had been suppressed most of the time.

Not to mention this time, Daredevil sensed that Kingpin had brought many subordinates.

Those lackeys were all holding rifles, looking vigilant.

Clearly, Daredevil knew he probably wasn't a match for Kingpin this time.

After all, there were simply too many of them.

Should he still make a move?

Thinking from another angle,

Kingpin had come in person for this smuggling deal.

So it was easy to imagine that the value of the goods must be extremely high.

Otherwise, Kingpin, this king of the underground, wouldn't have come himself.

"Even if I might not be able to beat them this time, sometimes victory isn't just about fighting. I just need to destroy those smuggled goods."

After a moment of contemplation, Daredevil decided to act.

If there was really no other way, he would just run.

As time passed, a few small boats approached the pier.

Figures stepped off those boats and began unloading the cargo.

Kingpin did not get out of the limousine at this time.

As if those goods didn't belong to him.

But a few lackeys went up to count the cargo.

"It should be these things."

Once Daredevil confirmed that these were indeed the smuggled goods,

he immediately moved into action.

A dark shadow rushed toward the lackeys in black suits at high speed.

Soon, he arrived behind the nearest lackey.

Thanks to his excellent speed and the cover of night, no one noticed him.
