Chapter 255: Hero? A level 54 Braviary at the start?

【Quest Complete!】

【Reward: Release Orb x2, Overwhelming Aura x1, Fighting Spirit x1, Victory Fragment x1, Free Ticket x1!】

【Overwhelming Aura: An oppressive aura will emerge from you and your Pokémon. During battle, the opponent will be in a state of panic or fear, causing the opponent to make judgment errors.】

【Fighting Spirit (from Hilda): Transmit your fighting spirit to your Pokémon, temporarily increasing the Pokémon's strength and stamina, and immunizing against the intrusion of some negative states, but negative states will still take effect!】

【Victory Fragment: A fragment of power from Victini, said to be able to call for victory, can greatly improve the strength and physical fitness of Pokémon or people.】

【Free Ticket: A tourist ticket used to go to Liberty Garden Island. Can board from Castelia City. Valid for a long time.】

"Ah, lost... the move just now, what move was that?!"

Hilda looked blankly at her Darmanitan falling to the ground, lowered the brim of her hat, but soon showed a helpless expression again.

"Hmm, one day I will win! Thank you for your advice!" Hilda said so, and then took out the prepared Potion and gave it to Darmanitan.

"Sorry!" Cheren suddenly spoke, asking Xiang Guangtai with confusion: "Your Pokémon is Steel-type, right!"

"Why do Fire Spin and Flame Charge seem to have no effect on it?! Even for Pokémon with a high growth rate, it's impossible to completely ignore moves that restrain their own type!"

Ah, it's this question.

Xiang Guangtai nodded.

"You noticed it. That's because my Aegislash is a bit unusual. Because it has been blessed by a... more powerful Pokémon, it can ignore attacks that are especially effective against it. In other words..."

"My Aegislash has no weaknesses."

"Aegislash, that's the name of that Pokémon... a Pokémon with no weaknesses, blessed by a powerful Pokémon..."

Cheren muttered to himself, as if starting to build a model in his mind: how to defeat the opponent if the Pokémon has no weaknesses, using the Mold Breaker ability...

While Xiang Guangtai smiled:

"Don't overthink it. There is only one Aegislash with this ability. Other Aegislash will still fear fire. And this kind of Pokémon cannot be encountered in the Unova region."

"And the so-called no weaknesses just means it won't be injured by super-effective moves. My Aegislash is a Steel + Ghost-type Pokémon, so, Water-type and Electric-type moves that can cause normal damage are its real weaknesses now."

Then he nodded to Hilda: "I also obtained a lot of precious power from you. That power just now was... fighting spirit."

Hilda: "Eh?"

Xiang Guangtai: "It's your fighting spirit projecting onto your Pokémon, so your Pokémon suddenly became very strong. You are not an ordinary person either. I saw this through Psychic ability."

Hilda laughed: "I just didn't want to lose! I just started the battle with that mentality!"

Xiang Guangtai: "This is normal. The joy of winning will encourage the heart, and the loss will be disappointing, but often the moment of losing is the moment that tests the heart more. The world is very big, different people, different Pokémon, different worldviews, confirm them one by one through yourself."

"The smallest unit of strength is to carry out one's own will."

Hilda nodded, her eyes lit up, and the disappointment brought by the failure was swept away at this moment.

"That's right, the world is very big! You are right! Carrying out one's own will... ah! Just do that!"

"An opponent that cannot be defeated... carrying out one's own will..." Hilbert raised the brim of his hat, and Xiang Guangtai suddenly looked at Hilbert: "Do you want to have a battle too?"

Since he had already obtained Hilda's power, why not take the opportunity to... Hilbert's power from the orthodox hero?

But Hilbert laughed first:

"The reason I like Pokémon battling is because I want to feel the joy of victory... formulating strategies to win, cultivating Pokémon, predicting the opponent's movements... In short, when winning under the condition of mastering various elements, that feeling is really great."

"Conversely, if I battle rashly and lose, I will be very disappointed."

"Hmm, after watching Hilda's battle, I understand one point: you are not an opponent who can be defeated by relying on aura."

This sentence made Xiang Guangtai slightly stunned.

So that's it, Hilbert here is the personality of Pokémon Masters? He is the spokesperson for calmness and caution, completely the opposite of Black!

Black from the Special manga is a pure reckless person. He is the kind of person who would stand on the side of the road and shout "I want to win the Pokémon League," and even cause trouble for some passersby.

"Eh, you can't think too much when battling, Hilbert. All tactics will automatically appear after entering the battle!"

"Ahahaha, Hilda is still so straightforward. Indeed, having said that, many times you can't formulate too perfect tactics."

Hilbert thought for a moment: "I want to have a one-on-one battle."

【Festival Quest: Challenge from the Hero.】

【Reward: Release Orb x2, Overwhelming Power x1, Determination x1, Life Drop x1, High-Tech Modification x1.】

【Description: A person who may become a hero in the future has issued a challenge at this moment. Is the one who is pinned with high hopes a person of truth or a person of ideals? Your words have been remembered by two heroes. Theirs may become more firm because of this, obsessed with their own ideals, and turn them into reality.】

Very good, Hilbert's quest also came out. The Entralink Tree really had been eyeing him for a long time.

Xiang Guangtai thought so in his heart, and the one Hilbert sent to the field was, sure enough... Braviary!

Battle!

There was no extra opening remark. After both sides prepared new items, Hilbert's spirit was fully invested in this battle, and his gaze condensed.

"Wing Attack!"

He chose close-quarters combat right from the start, perhaps out of fear of Steel Beam. However, Aegislash's stamina returned to full after taking medicine, and the huge dark golden shield opened again. King's Shield blocked Wing Attack and lowered Braviary's attack ability!

However, Hilbert raised the brim of his hat, and a smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

True powerhouses always smile when battling.

"Continue Wing Attack!"

"Ge-eh?"

Aegislash waved its shield, lighting up with Rock-type light!

Double-Edge!

If this hit, Braviary would basically be defeated directly. However, Braviary didn't dodge or evade, and took this blow with its own body!

"Block it with Bulk Up and Superpower!"

Hilbert's command at this time made Hilda, Cheren, and Bianca confused. However, only Aegislash knew that it suddenly felt something extra on its body...

Zzz! It felt like the feeling of lightning striking. Aegislash felt stinging pain and a sudden loss of stamina. That was not damage brought by the opponent's Pokémon, but an item!

On the sword body, an item that looked like a thorn, and also like a Life Orb, was stuck!

"Eh, that is..." Xiang Guangtai looked at the item suspiciously, very familiar!

"Sticky Barb! A very rare item. It seems that even you haven't encountered it." Hilbert smiled: "Pokémon will continue to receive damage after carrying it, but sometimes it will stick to the opponent who touches it. This item was first discovered on Ferrothorn. Once carried, it is difficult to discard, especially for Steel-type Pokémon!"

"I just thought of this method. Your Aegislash only has Water and Electric attacks that can take effect, and coincidentally my Braviary cannot master the offensive moves of these two types, so I can only start from the item aspect."

"Now, Sticky Barb is attached to your Pokémon's body, its stamina will continue to decrease, and I only need... Air Slash!"

Braviary flapped its wings, and infinite air wind blades bombarded the ground. Aegislash raised its shield to block, but the stinging feeling was constantly weakening its stamina!

This has nothing to do with resistance or not, but is a life deduction based on maximum HP!

Ah... hateful Ferrothorn... Xiang Guangtai complained silently in his heart, and right now Braviary's plan was clearly to use Air Slash to constantly flinch, so as to obtain the final victory. This is Hilbert's tactical planning.

Very good... However, the item he newly gave Aegislash to carry is...

And at this time Xiang Guangtai also saw that a strange energy emerged from Hilbert's body!

Is it "Hero's Determination"?

This power was also transmitted to his Pokémon! The energy of that Braviary was significantly improved!

Aegislash's eyes flashed with Psychic light, and infinite spiritual blades were arranged on the entire field like silk threads. Braviary was startled, and those spiritual blades surrounded it in the form of a "birdcage"!

Hilda: "Moves have this kind of usage! This is..."

Cheren: "It's Psycho Cut, right! Should be?!"

Bianca: "So amazing!"

They watched Braviary locked in the sky, discovering for the first time that the use of moves doesn't have to follow standard methods. Sometimes, if the proficiency of a certain move reaches mastery, one can freely manipulate these moves to make special tactics different from standard methods!

"Brave Bird! Rush out!" Hilbert certainly wouldn't sit still in this situation. He let Braviary fold its wings to accumulate power, using one of the strongest moves of the Flying-type to break through this birdcage of spiritual blockade!

"Powerful light surrounds 【Braviary】!"

But at the moment of accumulating power, a black shadow stabbed straight from the ground to the sky!

Strong Shadow Sneak!

That shadow longsword turned into a javelin, directly hitting Braviary, and following closely, Aegislash gathered a high-power move and flew directly into the sky!

Brave Bird also finished accumulating power at this time, the brilliant Flying-type light illuminated the entire earth, and then rushed down towards Aegislash with an unstoppable posture!

The birdcage composed of Psycho Cut was torn to pieces, and the holy giant bird soaring in the sky was solemn and fierce!

Now.

Xiang Guangtai gave the order in his heart.

Sure enough, Brave Bird predicted Aegislash's movement. When Aegislash made the action of King's Shield, it flew towards the high sky at a very fast speed. It didn't cancel the state of Brave Bird, but took advantage of the gap after Aegislash finished using the shield to turn around again!

Brave Bird, second time!

However, Aegislash was prepared!

Power Trick!

Use Psychic ability to exchange the power of attack and defense!

This way, even in the sword form, it still has powerful defensive ability!

The huge holy bird hit the sword body, but didn't cause effective damage. Following closely, Aegislash smashed the petrified shield onto its body fiercely!

Double-Edge!

This time it hit solidly, and Aegislash immediately switched its form again!

The move used in the shield form actually still has powerful power?

That's because Power Trick has exchanged the values of attack and defense!

The move used only at this moment, using Sticky Barb to constantly weaken life, but this is also beneficial to Aegislash, because the move used at this time is—

Reversal!

And Aegislash entered a special "Sacred Swordsman" state at this time!

Sacred Swordsman state—critical hit rate +2!

"Why is it like this!"

Hilbert watched in surprise as his Braviary was hit, and fell to the ground from the sky with a bang and lost combat ability!

Xiang Guangtai: "Ah... because the item I gave Aegislash to carry this time is... Life Orb."

"Reducing HP to deal higher damage, and at the same time, it can also be used in conjunction with moves like Reversal to counterattack, although I really didn't expect Sticky Barb."

"Hoo... failed, the joy of victory, slipped away."

Hilbert sighed helplessly.

"But I should have carried out my will. Tactics are the proof of my will. Well, this failure will make me stronger next time."

"Mr. Xiang Guangtai, how do you view battling?"

Little did he know that the one who wanted to complain more now was Xiang Guangtai.

Unova's new Trainers are a bit too fierce.

Should it be said, as expected of a hero of the new era, starting with a level 54 Braviary... the more I think about it, the more outrageous it is.

Facing Hilbert's inquiry, Xiang Guangtai thought for a while:

"Of course you have to reflect and review when you lose, but winning doesn't mean there are no flaws in the battle. We are the same. We are still considered newcomers in terms of battling. I didn't set off on a journey for the purpose of battling. In short, I am not the kind of Trainer who is particularly good at battling."

Xiang Guangtai's self-humility made Hilbert laugh: "If a person like you is not considered a Trainer who is particularly good at battling, then..."

"The highest mountain, the longest river... I know such people, on that snow-covered mountain. So, where is the Trainer who is best at battling? And what is it for to become strong? A Trainer should possess more than just strength. The secret of strength lies in the spirit of moving forward. That's what I think."

"A Champion I know said that battling is to let oneself and Pokémon bloom the brilliance of life on a bigger stage. In short, your future must be infinitely brilliant."

"And... don't forget the time spent living with Pokémon. Memories are the most important treasure. This is my answer."

Hilbert chewed on these words carefully, while Cheren showed a thoughtful idea.

In fact, blindly pursuing strength, combining theory and practice, and becoming a stronger Trainer is the goal that Cheren has always carried out. He began to calculate and plan before he even became a Trainer.

However, everything he encountered in the Black and White plot changed him, including his meeting with Alder, which made him begin to understand that strength is not the end of everything.

"Helping each other at critical moments is the most important thing, so people and Pokémon will always live together. Instead of defeating others, it is better to try to climb the peak..."

Xiang Guangtai's whisper made Cheren wake up suddenly. Looking forward again, the item craftsman showed a gentle smile to him.

So that's it...

Cheren had some insights.

And at this time, Xiang Guangtai received the reward from the Entralink Tree.
