Chapter 85: Friends Under the Sunset
“Learning Sacred Sword from Piwa ? I never thought of that, but it’s a valid idea—for you, all it takes is channeling Fighting-type power through blade strikes; you might indeed learn it.”
“That works too. Though some moves evolve into learned ones, Double-Edge and Shieldon’s move pools are nearly identical—if you grow strong enough, you’ll inevitably learn Sacred Sword.”
In terms of move learning, according to game mechanics, Sacred Sword requires level 56 to learn.
Yet Double-Edge had its own hidden thoughts.
What if I’m lucky and don’t learn Sacred Sword? What if I learn Gigavolt instead—that’d be even better!
Arceus’s statue effect is so powerful—I must save it for a critical moment! I need to practice Piwa hard these days!
Just as Guang Tai prepared to carve more unique move bracelets, Lei Ji Luo, who had been watching everyone work, suddenly made a strange sound: “Sari, sasa, sari.”
Lei Ji Luo was speaking to Guang Tai, pleading for something.
That bracelet resembles something ancient humans once wore.
Seeing Lei Ji Luo’s reaction, Guang Tai’s Crystal Heart sensed its emotional state—he knew this legendary giant was lost in distant memories.
“You want me to make more, and seal your moves into them? You’re saying ancient people did this too?”
Guang Tai suddenly understood: “So that’s it—I get it. The bracelets don’t just seal moves—they seal your memories too. You want these moves to continue living in this era, right?”
“Then let me see what moves you have.”
“Lei Ji.” Lei Ji Luo affirmed, then walked to an open space nearby.
It wanted to demonstrate its moves!
“Oh, wait!” Guang Tai set down his carving tools and bracelets, then returned inside to fetch his notebook.
First, sharp rock fragments began swirling around it—created by Rock-type energy, they blasted toward the sky!
Sharp Stone, one of the strongest Rock-type moves—uses jagged rocks to pierce opponents, easily striking vital points.
Next, Lei Ji Luo slammed down a Stone Wall—a line of shattered rocks crashed from the sky!
Rock Slide, a move that hurls massive rocks violently at opponents; sometimes causes flinching.
Then Lei Ji Luo demonstrated Heavy Slam, Electroweb, Charge Beam, Iron Defense, Arm Thrust, Discharge, even Ice-Fire-Thunder Punch, and the immensely powerful Thunder and Electromagnetic Cannon!
Though a Rock-type Pokémon, it knew many special Electric-type moves—Guang Tai couldn’t help thinking, Stone Pokémon really have bizarre move pools.
Yet Lei Ji Luo had no truly unique moves—its signature move used to be Strength, but now many Pokémon could learn it. Just as Guang Tai thought this, Lei Ji Luo suddenly raised its arm—a powerful Psychic force erupted from it, pulling Double-Edge and Unown down from midair!
“Yowm!”
“Anong!”
The two hovering Pokémon were forcibly dragged to the ground, and Guang Tai felt a powerful “gravity” in the air—no, this was!
“Gravity!”
A strong gravity field formed—Flying-type and Levitate Pokémon were forced to the ground, and aerial moves became unusable.
“This is a rare move! But quickly cancel Gravity—I can’t breathe!”
Guang Tai quickly reached out; Lei Ji Luo, staring blankly at the struggling group, realized its mistake and immediately moved everyone to a gravity-free zone!
It could only turn it on—couldn’t turn it off!
“Phew, saved.” Guang Tai sat on the ground; Double-Edge and Unown floated up again. Lei Ji Luo looked embarrassed, its H-symbol flickering wildly.
When it lived among humans, it used this move to drag down flying Pokémon that disturbed it—beat them up, very effective!
I can’t fly—no one else gets to fly!
“This is indeed a rare and practical move!” Guang Tai commented.
In real battles, Gravity doesn’t just restrict Levitate and Flying-types—it can also yank down Pokémon like Double-Edge and Unown that float via Spirit or Psychic energy. In games, it also blocks unique floating moves like Psychic’s Telekinesis and Electric’s Electroweb, while greatly increasing move accuracy.
Guang Tai wrote down the notes, recording the move.
“Lei Ji Luo, a Pokémon from the Rock Mountain Ruins.”
“Ability: Pure Body.”
“Gentle nature.”
“Met outside the workshop.”
“Often thinks deeply.”
Thus, Guang Tai began carving more bracelets, especially Lei Ji Luo’s “Gravity Bracelet”!
After finishing these tasks, Guang Tai realized night had fallen. After hastily crafting some Mineral Bait to replenish the Pokémon’s energy, he ate some berries and food himself, then sat with the Pokémon on the field, watching the distant sunset, taking a brief rest.
Lei Ji Luo didn’t need to eat—it could replenish energy just by standing, remarkably strange.
Bulbasaur approached Lei Ji Luo, trying to chat with the giant. Though their languages were hard to bridge, Pokémon communication only needed sincerity—heart understood heart.
Double-Edge, seeing Lei Ji Luo and Bulbasaur converse, immediately joined their exchange! Double-Edge considered Lei Ji Luo a kindred Pokémon and initiated conversation, even translating for Bulbasaur!
Bulbasaur’s eyes brightened, curiously watching Double-Edge.
“Nah?”
Guang Tai had the miraculous ability to communicate with Pokémon—so why could Double-Edge talk normally with the stone giant?
Double-Edge proudly declared: “You’re too young—you’ve never seen many old things. I’ve lived a thousand years!”
“Living a thousand years is impressive, but you spent most of it sleeping—and apparently, Torterra can live just as long.”
Guang Tai suddenly spoke up, joining the conversation. Double-Edge and Bulbasaur froze; Guang Tai smiled and said:
“Legend says Torterra live in colonies deep in forests, wandering mountains and valleys seeking pure water—some moving forests are actually Torterra herds migrating for water sources.”
“In ancient times, people imagined giant Torterra beneath the earth—some Pokémon are born on their backs and spend their entire lives there.”
“Torterra is Bulbasaur’s final evolution—huge, and capable of living extremely long.”
Double-Edge’s eyes widened!
Huh? You mean this sleepy little turtle will grow as big as the earth?
“Nah!”
Bulbasaur had never seen Torterra—it was born alone, with no companions—so hearing Guang Tai’s description, it felt sudden longing!
If I grow as big as the earth—no, even as big as a hill—I could grow countless rare plants, and no Pokémon would dare bother me!
The tiny Bulbasaur now brimmed with hope for the future!
Double-Edge’s ribbons patted Bulbasaur, unable to believe it could grow so large; Bulbasaur looked at its own body, also doubtful.
But hoping for the future—surely that’s right.
Bulbasaur began to imagine.
Soon after, Xiang Lei walked over happily, glancing at the sunset, then at the Trainer, then darting to the three Pokémon, listening as they shared stories from the past.
Stories from a thousand years ago.
Unconsciously, Xiang Lei grew melancholy, asking Lei Ji Luo if it once had a Trainer. Lei Ji Luo paused, then nodded.
If by “Trainer” you mean the one who commanded it—yes, there was one: the girl I mentioned. We were good friends. She taught me to give beautiful flowers to make friends.
Xiang Lei curiously asked if it had a tribe.
Lei Ji Luo’s H-symbol flickered.
Tribe? You mean others like it—or similar?
If you mean Lei Jiaisi and Lei Jiqi Lu—then yes, perhaps it had a tribe.
Lei Ji Luo told Xiang Lei about two other giants like it: one of ice, one of steel.
But after awakening unexpectedly in its temple, it found the other two giants still asleep.
“Yowm~!”
Double-Edge immediately chimed in!
So I’m truly a kindred spirit! I also woke up by accident—otherwise I’d still be gathering dust in a warehouse!
The Pokémon exchanged stories; after resting, Guang Tai returned to the workshop.
Passing the computer, Guang Tai saw the Plate symbol, paused, thought briefly, then deliberately broke apart Lei Ji Luo’s name and reassembled it into a new word.
Budrex—Raiquon.
