Chapter 10: Catching the Turtle in the Jar

~7 min read 1,311 words

"What... what do you want to do?" Liu Yunfei felt a little panicked.

"What do I want to do?" Zhang Jun laughed, "I just want to talk with you."

"Talk... talk about what?" Liu Yunfei forced himself to stay calm.

"Talk about your plan." Zhang Jun said, "Talk about your cooperation with the 'upper house'."

Liu Yunfei's face changed dramatically.

"What... what are you talking nonsense about?" He flatly denied.

"Nonsense? It seems you won't cry until you see the coffin." Zhang Jun snorted coldly, took out his phone from his pocket, and played a recording.

It was exactly the sound of Liu Yunfei making a phone call in the room, the content of his conspiracy with the "upper house", clearly transmitted into Liu Yunfei's ears.

Liu Yunfei's face turned deathly pale, his body trembling uncontrollably. He never imagined that his secret would be so thoroughly grasped by Zhang Jun.

"When... when did you..." Liu Yunfei's voice carried a hint of despair.

"Want to know? Too bad, you have no chance." Zhang Jun's eyes turned cold, and his figure suddenly vanished from the spot.

Liu Yunfei felt his throat tighten, his breathing instantly becoming difficult. He widened his eyes, looking at Zhang Jun who had appeared before him, his eyes full of fear.

Zhang Jun exerted a little force with his hand, and Liu Yunfei's feet left the ground as he was lifted up.

"Speak, who is your 'upper house'?" Zhang Jun's voice was ice-cold and piercing.

Liu Yunfei struggled desperately, but to no avail. His face had swollen to a liver-like color.

"I... I can't say..." Liu Yunfei struggled to utter a few words.

"Can't say, or won't say?" Zhang Jun sneered, "It seems you are truly loyal to your 'upper house'."

"I..." Liu Yunfei still wanted to say something, but Zhang Jun cut him off.

"Give you one last chance, speak or not speak?" Zhang Jun's patience had been exhausted.

Liu Yunfei looked at Zhang Jun's icy eyes, feeling the threat of death. He knew that if he didn't speak now, he would really lose his life.

"I... I say..." Liu Yunfei finally gave up resistance, "It... it's the Wang family..."

"The Wang family?" Zhang Jun frowned, "Which Wang family?"

"Jiangbei... the Jiangbei Wang family..." Liu Yunfei said haltingly.

Zhang Jun's heart stirred. The Jiangbei Wang family, he had heard of them. It is a reclusive clan in Jiangbei, with immense power, far beyond what the Fang family can compare.

"Besides the Wang family, who else?" Zhang Jun continued to press.

Liu Yunfei shook his head, indicating he truly didn't know.

Zhang Jun stared at him for a moment, confirming he was not lying.

"Good, you can go die now." Zhang Jun exerted force with his hand, directly snapping Liu Yunfei's neck.

Liu Yunfei's body fell limp to the ground.

Zhang Jun paid no more attention to him, but turned and left the room.

Since the target had been confirmed, there was nothing left to hesitate about.

Zhang Jun left Liu Yunfei's room, but did not immediately leave the Fang family estate; instead, he secretly spread rumors.

He exploited the internal conflicts of the Fang family, creating chaos, making Fang Hong and Fang Zijie mistakenly believe that the Liu family had betrayed them.

Soon, the interior of the Fang family descended into utter chaos.

Fang Hong and Fang Zijie, in order to protect themselves, had to bring a group of experts to an abandoned warehouse, preparing for a life-and-death battle with the Liu family.

Zhang Jun quietly followed behind them, preparing to reap the benefits of the fisherman's gain.

In the night, the abandoned warehouse looked especially gloomy.

Fang Hong and Fang Zijie, leading a group of black-clad men, stood in the center of the warehouse.

"Liu Quan, you old bastard, get out here!" Fang Hong roared.

His voice echoed in the empty warehouse, sounding especially mournful.

"Fang Hong, don't be arrogant; today is your day of death!" A voice came from outside the warehouse.

Immediately after, a crowd surged in from outside the warehouse.

Leading them was none other than the head of the Liu family, Liu Quan.

"Dad, be careful of a trap!" Fang Zijie warned.

Fang Hong nodded, signaling his men to get ready.

Both sides faced off, the tension reaching its peak.

Just then, a voice suddenly sounded.

"Fang family head, long time no see."

Zhang Jun's figure appeared at the warehouse doorway.

"Zhang Jun?!" Fang Hong and Fang Zijie exclaimed in unison.

They never expected Zhang Jun to actually appear here.

"Quite surprising, huh?" Zhang Jun asked with a smile.

"How... how did you end up here?" Fang Hong felt a bit flustered.

"Why can't I be here?" Zhang Jun countered.

"Kid, don't get cocky; today you won't leave alive!" Fang Zijie shouted, charging at Zhang Jun.

"Just you?" Zhang Jun curled his lip in disdain, shifted his body, and easily dodged Fang Zijie's attack.

Fang Zijie's fist technique was fierce and overbearing, but full of flaws.

Zhang Jun seized an opening and punched Fang Zijie in the chest.

Fang Zijie let out a muffled groan, flew backward, and crashed heavily to the ground.

"Zijie!" Fang Hong exclaimed.

He never imagined that his own son would be so utterly helpless.

"Come on together, kill him for me!" Fang Hong roared, ordering his men to surround Zhang Jun.

A group of black-clad men brandished their sabers and lunged at Zhang Jun.

Zhang Jun's eyes turned cold; his figure moved like a ghost, weaving through the crowd.

Wails rose and fell.

In the blink of an eye, all the Fang Family's experts lay on the ground, wailing incessantly.

Fang Hong and Fang Zijie were utterly desperate.

They never expected Zhang Jun to be so strong.

"Now it's your turn." Zhang Jun stepped step by step toward Fang Hong and his son.

"Don't… don't kill me…" Fang Zijie kept backing away in terror.

"Zhang Jun, you can't kill me, I'm the Family Head of the Fang Family!" Fang Hong said, stern outwardly but fearful inside.

"Fang Family Head? So impressive?" Zhang Jun sneered, "In my eyes, you're nothing but an ant."

"What… what do you want?" Fang Hong asked, trembling.

"What do I want?" Zhang Jun laughed, "I want you to pay the price."

"What price?" Fang Hong asked.

"You Fang Family, colluding with the Black Tiger Hall, harming the innocent, your sins are unforgivable!" Zhang Jun's voice was ice-cold and piercing, "Today I will act on behalf of Heaven, to seek justice for those wronged souls!"

"No… don't…" Fang Hong collapsed in terror, falling to the ground.

"Tell me, who exactly is your 'superior'?" Zhang Jun demanded sternly.

Fang Hong hesitated, then finally shook his head.

"If you won't speak, then go die!" Zhang Jun's eyes turned cold, about to act.

"Don't… don't kill me…" Fang Hong suddenly screamed, spat white foam, collapsed, and breathed his last.

Zhang Jun froze, then realized Fang Hong had committed suicide by poison.

"Dad!" Fang Zijie was grief-stricken.

"Fang Zijie, now only you remain." Zhang Jun looked at Fang Zijie.

A flash of despair crossed Fang Zijie's eyes, but he quickly regained his composure.

"Zhang Jun, do you think you've won? You're wrong!" Fang Zijie sneered, "Even if we die, our superior won't let you off!"

"'Superior'? Is it the Jiangbei Wang Family?" Zhang Jun said calmly.

Fang Zijie's face changed.

"How… how do you know?" he asked in disbelief.

"If you want to keep something secret, you must not do it." Zhang Jun said, "You really think those shady deeds of yours can stay hidden?"

"You…" Fang Zijie wanted to say more, but Zhang Jun cut him off.

"Enough, cut the nonsense. Tell me, is the Liu Family Second Uncle your mole?" Zhang Jun asked directly.

Fang Zijie hesitated, then finally nodded.

"As expected." Zhang Jun thought to himself.
