Chapter 95: Truth
The air fell silent in an instant.
Those few in uniforms glanced at each other, gripping their folders tightly, but no one dared to pull anything out.
"Bringing martial artists to enforce the law?" Zhang Jun jerked his chin at the two brawny men, "Your chests are heaving so hard you're practically exhaling cold air—what kind of martial art is this? Some sort of Cold Poison Sect technique?"
The two burly men's faces turned ashen, and they instinctively shrank back.
Sweat rolled down Liu Zong's forehead: "You, you're spouting nonsense! What martial artists? What Cold Poison Sect?"
Zhang Jun didn't waste words on him, just stood there and gently turned the internal heat flow.
The temperature in the room seemed to rise a few more degrees, making everyone feel stifled and anxious.
Lin Xue moved over silently and stood shoulder‑to‑shoulder with him.
She flicked her finger, and a tiny speck of cold air slipped silently into the pant leg of the loudest, most aggressive "law‑enforcement" officer.
"Ouch—!"
The man clutched his stomach, his face instantly turning as white as paper, large beads of sweat pouring down.
"It hurts… I'm dying… my stomach…"
He thumped to his knees, writhing in pain and howling miserably.
Liu Zong completely lost his composure, at a loss what to do.
Just then, footsteps sounded again at the clinic's entrance.
"Sorry I'm late."
Su Muqing walked in, followed by a middle‑aged man in a crisp suit holding a briefcase.
"Su… Miss Su?" Liu Zong saw Su Muqing and his face turned green.
"Manager Liu, you're swamped with work, yet you ignore even basic procedure?" Su Muqing's voice was cool as she took a stack of documents from the middle‑aged man's hand. "This is the cooperation agreement between Zhengyang Technology and Huichun Hall, this is Doctor Zhang's medical license, and this is our lawyer. If you have any questions about the documents, feel free to take them to court."
Liu Zong's face went from green to bluish, then turned white.
Especially when he saw Mo Tianhe slowly sit up on the bed—though he still looked a bit weak, his complexion was markedly better than his earlier near‑death state—his heart skipped and he silently cursed.
"Mo… Old Mo? How…?"
"Manager Liu, right? Long admired." Mo Tianhe leaned against the headboard, his voice low but penetrating, "I don't know if you're just doing your duty or if you have a personal grudge. If it's the latter, even though I'm old, the sign of the Binhai Mo Family hasn't sunk so low as to be trampled on."
As soon as he said that, the tension in the room became so thick you could wring water out of it.
Everyone knew the weight the Mo Family carried in Binhai, and Liu Zong knew it better than anyone—he never imagined he'd run straight into the Mo Family Head today.
Veins bulged on Liu Zong's forehead as he forced out a grin uglier than a cry: "It's a misunderstanding, a huge misunderstanding! We were just acting on a report, following procedure. Since the paperwork's in order, there's nothing to worry about—nothing at all."
He hastily waved his hand, signaling his men to retreat, and before leaving he couldn't resist shooting Zhang Jun a vicious glare.
"Young man, we'll see how this goes!"
Su Muqing snorted coldly: "Manager Liu, Binhai isn't just Hengrui. Huichun Hall is backed by Zhengyang Technology, and Zhengyang Technology is backed by the Su Family. You came here brandishing your authority to pick a fight—shouldn't you have consulted the Su Family first?"
Liu Zong's face flushed and paled; he didn't dare let out another fart, leading his ragtag crew away in disgrace.
"Damn it!" Mo Tianhe gasped, leaning against the headboard, weary but unable to hide the sparkle in his eyes, "Doctor Zhang, this old man…"
Zhang Jun stepped forward to take his pulse, exhaled in relief, and nodded: "Old Mo, most of the residual toxin from the Burning Heart Strength has cleared, and the three blocked meridians are basically open. I'll give you another consolidation in a couple of days, and you should be fully recovered."
"After decades of this old ailment… there really is a day of cure?" Mo Tianhe's voice trembled, unable to contain his excitement, "This kindness, the Mo Family will remember!"
Su Muqing walked up to Zhang Jun and lowered her voice: "I got word that someone was after you, so I rushed over. I didn't expect Liu Zong and his lot to move so quickly."
Zhang Jun gave her a nod: "Thanks."
"Please have a seat." Mo Tianhe gestured to the chair beside him, "I have some things I'd like to say to you both."
After Zhang Jun and Su Muqing sat down, Mo Tianhe's face darkened.
"When Doctor Zhang just mentioned the 'Cold Poison Sect,' I already knew. Forty years ago, the one who wounded me was a master of the Cold Poison Sect. He used precisely the 'Burning Heart Strength.' This technique was originally pure yang and unyielding, but the sect's heretical offshoots twisted it into something utterly yin and poisonous."
"Cold Poison Sect…" Lin Xue repeated, thoughtful.
Mo Tianhe nodded: "The Cold Poison Sect is a heretical faction in the ancient martial world. It was wiped out decades ago by the righteous forces joining hands, yet lately there are signs of its dying embers reigniting."
"Old Mo, how did you end up feuding with the Cold Poison Sect back then?" Zhang Jun asked.
Mo Tianhe fell silent, as if recalling something far in the past: "It wasn't a personal grudge. Back then, the Cold Poison Sect secretly allied with a mysterious organization, capturing martial artists with special bloodlines everywhere to conduct some heretical experiments. When I and a few like‑minded comrades discovered this and moved to stop them, that's how the feud began."
"Special bloodlines?" Zhang Jun and Lin Xue almost simultaneously sat upright.
"Exactly." Mo Tianhe's tone grew grave, "Especially physiques like yours—pure yang and profound yin bodies, one in ten thousand—are precisely what that organization lusts after."
Su Muqing furrowed her brows: "What organization is that?"
"Bloodline." Mo Tianhe spat out the two words, his voice dropping even lower, "Rumor has it they're seeking an ancient secret art, hoping to use special bloodlines to blast open… a passage to another place."
"Another place?" Zhang Jun's heart leapt.
"I don't know the specifics either," Mo Tianhe shook his head, "but I can be certain that Lin Zhen is inseparably linked to the Bloodline organization."
Lin Xue had stayed silent, but now she spoke up: "What about Kun? What's his connection to the Bloodline?"
"Kun…" Mo Tianhe's face darkened further, "The Night Watch and the Bloodline are mortal enemies. The secret the Night Watch has guarded for generations is exactly what the Bloodline has been after."
"So Kun showing up at the abandoned factory means he was tracking the Bloodline?" Zhang Jun pieced the clues together.
"Nine times out of ten." Mo Tianhe nodded, "And your two special physiques have surely drawn the attention of both sides. Now the situation is even messier than we imagined."
No one spoke in the room.
Zhang Jun walked to the window and watched the sky outside gradually darken.
Snow Mountain, the abandoned factory, Liu Zong's visit—all the clues are like an invisible net, slowly tightening.
Lin Xue also stepped to his side, her voice soft: "It seems our troubles are far greater than we thought."
Zhang Jun grunted: "No matter what they want, it won't be easy."
