Chapter 1754
Sun Dagen sighed and said, "Benefactor, your suspicions are too heavy; if I truly wanted to harm you, why go to all this trouble?"
Hu Xiaotian laughed, "One must not harbor harmful intent, nor be without defensive intent; how can you be sure I'm definitely a good person?"
Sun Dagen said, "The face reflects the heart; seeing your benefactor's dignified appearance and righteous aura, you don't look like a bad person at all—especially since you just gave me the antidote."
Hu Xiaotian burst out laughing, "How can you be sure that pill is an antidote and not poison? This is the Wuxian Sect's main altar—aren't you afraid I'm a member of the Wuxian Sect? What are the consequences for outsiders barging into the Wuxian Sect's main altar? Do I still need to explain that to you?"
Sun Dagen shook his head. "You cannot possibly be a member of the Wuxian Sect!"
"How can you be so certain?"
"Because..." Sun Dagen hadn't finished speaking; he then used actions to explain everything to Hu Xiaotian. He drew the axe from his waist, swung it down, cleaving the already dead plum blossom deer in two. From the deer's abdomen buzzed out a cluster of black smoke, which was actually countless blood-sucking horseflies forming, quickly spreading in the air and moving to surround Hu Xiaotian.
Hu Xiaotian's lips curled into a cold smile; he indeed hadn't guessed wrong—this Sun Dagen was simply setting a false front, trying to lure him into a trap.
Sun Dagen spat out the Blood-Cleansing Pill he had been holding in his mouth with a puff; a green light shot forth like a crossbow bolt, whistling toward Hu Xiaotian's face.
Hu Xiaotian tapped the tip of his foot, his body shot backward, leaping through the air; his body twisted in midair, his feet landing on the selected spot—a cypress trunk thick enough to require two arms to encircle—then he rebounded like an arrow leaving the bowstring, his speed so fast that under the moonlight it formed a gray radiance, resembling a drawn giant sword from afar.
This sword's aura was unstoppable; although the blood-sucking horseflies swarmed like rain, they could not stir even a ripple against the protective aura surrounding Hu Xiaotian.
Sun Dagen had thought Hu Xiaotian would flee into the woods, but he hadn't expected that Hu Xiaotian's retreat was merely to launch a better attack; stunned, he saw Hu Xiaotian's fierce offensive, and his reaction was extremely swift—his body suddenly sank, and he actually vanished from Hu Xiaotian's sight.
Hu Xiaotian also hadn't expected Sun Dagen to escape so quickly; looking up, he saw a hole appear where Sun Dagen had just been lying—Sun Dagen had dug into it and vanished. At that moment, Sun Dagen's voice came from afar; his figure appeared in the stream, where he had just lain motionless, now standing proudly, full of vigor.
Hu Xiaotian burst out laughing, "You're really bad at acting."
Sun Dagen said gloomily, "Kid, do you know the consequences of trespassing the Wuxian Sect's main altar?" By saying that, he effectively admitted he belonged to the Wuxian Sect.
Hu Xiaotian had originally come intending to sneak in silently, but he kept making noise all the way here, thwarting his original purpose; since things had come to this, there was nothing to fear, and he said, "Turns out you're also a member of the Wuxian Sect—we're all fellow sect members! It's truly a case of the flood drowning the Dragon King's temple, where family doesn't recognize family."
Sun Dagen said, "Since we're all family, come over and let's get close." Looking at the blood-sucking horseflies swirling around Hu Xiaotian's body but not retreating, yet none dared to approach, he couldn't help wondering what this kid's background was.
Hu Xiaotian said, "I dare not; if I go over, who knows what poisonous creature you'll unleash on me?"
Sun Dagen snorted coldly, "Don't even fellow sect members have any basic trust?"
Hu Xiaotian laughed, "Then you come over and we'll get close." He was on guard against Sun Dagen, and Sun Dagen was likewise on guard against him.
Sun Dagen sighed, "Young man, why are you so suspicious? If you don't come over, you'll surely regret it."
Hu Xiaotian then heard a rustling behind him; turning, he saw thousands of multicolored poisonous snakes gathering from all directions toward him. He wore a bitter face and shook his head, "What's the point? Why bother? If you want to kill me, just come and do it yourself—why let these cute little things die?"
Sun Dagen sneered, "You don't even know the Wuxian Sect's Myriad Immortals Formation, yet you dare to impersonate a member of our sect—kid, accept your fate!"
Hu Xiaotian saw the poisonous snakes halt at a distance of one zhang around him, knowing they would not attack him.
Sun Dagen also noticed this unusual situation, his heart hesitating: could this kid really be a sect member, otherwise how could he control the poisonous snakes so they don't attack?
Hu Xiaotian walked slowly toward Sun Dagen, completely ignoring the poisonous snakes swarming from all sides; as he approached, the snakes parted to either side, and Sun Dagen, seeing this scene, was inwardly shocked to the extreme.
Hu Xiaotian suddenly stopped, because he saw a figure in the distance trembling as it walked over—it was an old lady, dressed in black, slightly stooped, leaning on a green vine cane, her face full of wrinkles from wind and frost; indeed it was Ying Popo whom he had met in Redwood Creek. Ying Popo is an elder-level figure of the Wuxian Sect and also the master of Yan Nujiao. Back in Firetree City, she had once teamed up with Hu Xiaotian to thwart the plot of Saintess Tongyun. But times have changed; back then they shared common interests, and Ying Popo had allied with Hu Xiaotian for the sake of the Red Barbarian Tribe's benefit. Now that he has come to the Wuxian Sect's main altar and even undergone disguise, she should not recognize him.
Ying Popo's throat emitted a strange ee-ya sound; the poisonous snakes that had been swarming like a tide around Hu Xiaotian quickly dispersed into the surrounding woods, vanishing completely in a short time, leaving only a glistening silver slime on the ground.
Ying Popo sighed, "You useless thing, you can't tell friend from foe, yet you dare attack our Wuxian Sect's honored guest with such clumsy means—do you believe I'll throw you into the crocodile pool?" Although her words were harsh, her tone was full of kindness, like a kind old grandmother scolding a disobedient grandson; Hu Xiaotian felt nothing, but Sun Dagen felt a chill.
Ying Popo struck the ground with her cane and said, "Get lost already!"
Sun Dagen felt as if a great weight had been lifted off his shoulders upon hearing her words, and he hurriedly turned and left.
Shadow Granny's deep eyes fixed on Hu Xiaotian; Hu Xiaotian wondered to himself that his skill in changing appearance had reached perfection, and Shadow Granny should not be able to spot any flaw, and he smiled as he looked at her.
Shadow Granny said: "Hu Xiaotian, you are truly audacious, daring to barge into the Wuxian Sect alone!" (To be continued~^~)
