Chapter 810

~10 min read 1,986 words

The black-armored giant actually didn't know how to dodge; Ji Feihua secretly rejoiced, yet saw two streaks of cold light hit the target, only to hear a clanging sound—turns out the black-armored giant's eyes also had protection, merely using a transparent visor. The black-armored giant raised the coiling-dragon pillar in his hand and swept horizontally again; Ji Feihua's body leapt up and landed on an open space five zhang away from the opponent, coldly staring at the black-armored giant: "Who exactly are you?"

The black-armored giant laughed with a strange "kie-kie": "Ji Feihua, you are full of tricks—can't you still guess who I am?" He raised his voice and let out a weird whistle, sounding like thunder, which carried far through the rainy night.

Ji Feihua said: "Hong Beimo!" Besides Hong Beimo, who is deeply versed in mechanism layouts and full of clever schemes, who else could have such ability?

The black-armored giant said: "I still underestimated you in the end; I never thought you would persuade my subordinates to poison me!"

Ji Feihua smiled: "Each to each—being able to convince Mu Rongzhan to turn his weapons against you shows you do have some skill." His gaze flicked to the distant Mu Rongzhan, seeing that Mu Rongzhan had already risen to his feet again.

Hong Beimo said: "You never understood one thing: if you want someone to serve you wholeheartedly, you must never subdue them by force!"

A hint of a mocking smile appeared at the corner of Ji Feihua's mouth: "You mean, to win people over with virtue?"

Hong Beimo said: "Not bad!" He raised the coiling-dragon pillar and charged toward Ji Feihua.

Ji Feihua snorted coldly: "I'd like to see just how capable you are!" He had already confirmed in his mind that the Retired Emperor Long Xuan'en had just seized the chance to escape from Lingxiao Palace; today's situation had been planned by them long ago—from the discovery of the wax pill given by Long Ting sheng, it might have been deliberately leaked to him to sow suspicion, leading him to follow this trail to Lingxiao Palace; Hong Beimo's move was essentially a ploy of luring the enemy in to capture them.

Ji Feihua slapped his palm toward the coiling-dragon pillar. With a loud "peng!" the forward momentum of Hong Beimo was blocked by Ji Feihua's palm; the two, eyes full of killing intent, intertwined through the layers of rain and mist, fighting each other in the void. Their internal energy flowed along the coiling-dragon pillar toward each other, converging and colliding at the midpoint. The clash of two powerful internal energies triggered an explosion; the coiling-dragon pillar shattered in the middle into two sections. Ji Feihua's palm left the pillar, then flashed like lightning to strike it again, the broken end of the pillar spinning as it smashed toward Hong Beimo.

Hong Beimo also hurled the pillar at Ji Feihua; the two broken ends did not meet in midair, and the pillar thrown by Ji Feihua struck Hong Beimo's outer armor. With a loud "gang!" the impact echoed. Hong Beimo's body merely swayed slightly; his outer armor showed no damage at all. He swung his right fist, a fist the size of a normal person's head shooting toward Ji Feihua in an instant, actually detaching from his arm and flying forth spinning.

Ji Feihua dodged the pillar thrown by Hong Beimo. The opponent's fist came whistling again—it turned out that Hong Beimo's right fist was connected to his body by a steel cable.

Ji Feihua leaned his body back to dodge the iron fist, yet he didn't expect that the iron fist, as it flew past close to his face, would actually disassemble and transform. Numerous diamond-shaped spikes shot toward him at high speed. At the critical moment, Ji Feihua's body flattened against the ground and slid backward at high speed.

Those spikes, after missing their target, flew back and reconnected, re-forming into an iron fist, which was pulled back onto Hong Beimo's arm by the steel cable.

The granite on the ground leapt up, striking upward into Ji Feihua's body. However, it was Li Yuncong, hidden underground, who had locked onto Ji Feihua's retreat route, waiting for a chance to unleash a deadly blow.

This palm strike was timed perfectly; it hit Ji Feihua's body solidly through the granite—striking the mountain to affect the man—its force transmitted via the granite to Ji Feihua's body, yet the point of explosion lay inside Ji Feihua.

Ji Feihua took that palm, a trickle of blood seeping from the corner of his mouth; his body rose into the air, but he dared not counterattack immediately, making two successive turns in midair, and when he landed he was already atop the head of the bronze lion in Lingxiao Palace. Ji Feihua stood on the bronze lion, his complexion unusually pallid; on the opposite bronze lion, Mu Rongzhan stood upright with his sword, his face even paler than Ji Feihua's, a sickly whiteness. Having recovered somewhat from the severe injury Ji Feihua had inflicted earlier, his grayish pupils remained fixed on Ji Feihua without moving: "Surrender, and perhaps there is still a way to live."

Ji Feihua chuckled: "It seems you no longer care for your daughter's life!"

Mu Rongzhan said: "Do I look like someone who fears to harm the vessel while trying to hit the rat?"

A bolt of lightning, like a twisted serpent, tore through the sky, bathing the entire misty peak's summit in light as bright as daytime. Ji Feihua's eyes blinked involuntarily, while Mu Rongzhan's eyes remained utterly still; he fears sunlight, loves darkness, yet is never afraid of lightning.

The sword light that flashed across the sky could rival the lightning, but this sword's aim was not to assassinate Ji Feihua; rather, it was to seal off her forward retreat.

Hong Beimo threw both fists forward; the steel-cable-linked fists resembled two black flood dragons, one left, one right, smashing wildly toward Ji Feihua.

Ji Feihua shouted angrily, stamping his feet; the bronze lion beneath his feet was pressed down and sank deep. Visible attacks are not frightening; invisible assassinations are the deadliest. Li Yuncong, lurking underground, might well repeat his old trick.

After the bronze lion sank into the ground, Ji Feihua's body did not rush to escape the two-sided pincer attack; instead, he unexpectedly surged forward toward Hong Beimo.

His body twisted and turned in midair, threading through the gaps between the two swaying iron chains, and in an instant he was before Hong Beimo—at that moment Hong Beimo's iron fists had not yet been retracted.

Ji Feihua struck from afar with a palm aimed at Hong Beimo's iron armor; an invisible palm blade sliced his outer armor. Though formless, its cutting force and the blade's sharpness even surpassed divine weapons, leaving a white mark about a foot long on the armor.

Hong Beimo's pair of iron fists were drawn back, and one fist smashed toward Ji Feihua's body.

Ji Feihua's body rose in a spiral, instantly gaining a zhang in height, then plummeted full speed downward; he planted a foot on Hong Beimo's helmet, exerting all his strength, driving Hong Beimo's feet deep into the ground. Hong Beimo's shoulder plates shifted, exposing the arrow quiver hidden inside; a continuous "xiu! xiu! xiu!" sounded as dozens of crossbow bolts shot upward.

Ji Feihua kicked toward Hong Beimo's face; with a loud "gang!" Hong Beimo's head merely twitched slightly. He bent his right arm and punched upward; at this moment Hong Beimo resembled a steel beast, and Ji Feihua could do nothing against his outer armor. Seeing Hong Beimo swing his fist again, Ji Feihua flung his body backward to avoid the blow.

Hong Beimo's body burst from the earth, the two chest plates opening to reveal dense quivers of arrows; with a loud "peng!" like a swarm of bees, countless steel needles shot densely toward Ji Feihua.

Ji Feihua waved both hands; the rain threads in the air around his body formed a transparent shield. The steel needles struck the shield, breaking through it and continuing to wail toward Ji Feihua. His body spun rapidly, breaking free of the transparent water shield and flying out; the shield left behind formed a transparent vortex, its strong centrifugal force deflecting the incoming needles from their original paths, causing them to swirl around the direction of the water flow.

Ji Feihua's body slanted rightward in midair, and the vortex of water and steel needles trailing behind him spread like a heavenly rain of flowers, enveloping Mu Rongzhan.

Mu Rongzhan waved his slender sword, forming a light shield around his body; the shield blocked all rain outside, only the constant tinkling of steel needles striking the blade could be heard. Although his sword was fast, several needles still slipped through, piercing his body via the sword shield.

Ji Feihua dared not linger, preparing to flee; Hong Beimo saw his intention, and his double fists flew out again, reaching their limit and breaking free of the iron chains' restraint, exploding open; diamond-shaped steel shuttles whistled toward Ji Feihua. After one wave of attack came another; his outer armor continually disintegrated and fired, the scattered projectiles flying everywhere blockading every possible retreat of Ji Feihua.

Ji Feihua saw Hong Beimo voluntarily shedding his outer armor, secretly thinking the chance to kill the enemy might have arrived; his body weaved through the sky-full of flying concealed weapons, approaching Hong Beimo, and he launched a punch at him.

The fists collided; Hong Beimo was shaken back three steps, yet his eyes were blood-red, fixed on Ji Feihua. Ji Feihua snorted coldly and threw another punch; seeing Hong Beimo meet the attack with a fist, he repeated his old trick, spitting out a steel needle with a "tut!" straight at Hong Beimo's right eye.

The steel needle halted just an inch from Hong Beimo's eyelid, actually blocked by his protective aura. Hong Beimo bit his tongue, spraying a mist of blood, then threw a punch toward Ji Feihua; this punch's power had increased severalfold compared to before—it was the Blood-transmuting Prajna Technique, nurturing the body with blood. Discarding the outer armor was meant to lure the enemy deeper; Ji Feihua refused to draw near—how could he still have a move to kill the enemy?

The fists struck together; Ji Feihua felt an immense, unmatched force travel through his arm into his body, his chest as if hit by a heavy hammer, and with a "pu!" he spat out a mouthful of fresh blood; the wound in his back previously pierced by Mu Rongzhan's sword burst open again.

Li Yuncong's phantom appeared three zhang behind Ji Feihua, his hands as if embracing the sun and moon, forming a void within his arms; an invisible attraction drew the surrounding rain threads into his embrace. The fresh blood spurting from Ji Feihua's wound, pulled by this force, turned into a blood line, and blood continuously drained from his body.

Ji Feihua was greatly alarmed, intending to use internal energy to staunch the bleeding. Hong Beimo's all-out punch had already arrived before him, yet Ji Feihua made an unexpected choice: he neither dodged nor countered with a fist, but allowed Hong Beimo's punch to strike his chest; his body flew backward like a severed kite.

Li Yuncong crossed his palms, and a huge translucent palm shadow arose in the rain, slamming fiercely toward the back of Ji Feihua's heart.

Ji Feihua's body struck that enormous translucent hand; the hand was instantly turned to mist by her impact, and her momentum, unabated like a meteor, carried her crashing into Li Yuncong.

Li Yuncong's face changed; he pushed both palms forward to strike the back of his heart.
