Chapter 152: Being my boyfriend is what satisfies me
Xia Xi closely followed Xu Yanfeng step for step, the elevator rose, and with a "ding" it stopped on the fourth floor.
This floor was Xu Yanfeng's private domain; no one came up, it was so quiet that only the sound of their footsteps, one ahead of the other, could be heard.
Xu Yanfeng's clothes were also soaked through; his white cotton-linen shirt was thin and translucent, clinging to his skin and clearly revealing his superior figure. Behind him, Xia Xi could see his broad back muscles and slim waist with just a slight lift of her eyes—the muscle lines were shallow yet distinct, not exaggerated, just right.
Xia Xi admired him without restraint, not noticing that Xu Yanfeng had suddenly stopped; she almost bumped into him, but she tightly pressed her lips and leaned back just in time, avoiding an intimate collision of her face with his back.
Xu Yanfeng stood before the two tightly closed doors, his long fingers gripping the handle, he pressed down and pushed one open.
Xia Xi followed him in, looked around, and saw it was a suite with a living room and study, the floor covered with a wool carpet that made no sound underfoot; the innermost room was the bedroom, the facilities were simple yet tasteful, and the color scheme was also simple.
It gave a feeling of cleanliness and comfort.
Xu Yanfeng went straight to the wardrobe, pulled out a shirt; he didn't usually wear shorts, his closet held only long pants, which Xia Xi couldn't wear. After thinking, he came out and said to her: "Take a bath first, I'll call the housekeeper to buy a set of clothes from the mall."
"Why go to all that trouble?" Xia Xi pulled the shirt from the crook of his arm, "Just wearing this is fine; it's long enough to be worn as a dress."
Xu Yanfeng's expression froze slightly, he pointed her toward the bathroom: "There are clean towels in the cabinet under the washbasin, use whichever you like. The hair dryer is also in there."
Having given those instructions, Xu Yanfeng left; he also needed to shower and change clothes.
In the spacious suite, only Xia Xi remained; her nose felt itchy, she sneezed again, not wanting to catch a cold, so she didn't delay and hurried into the bathroom.
She didn't choose to bathe; she stood under the showerhead and let hot water run over her for a while, her body gradually warmed, after drying off the water droplets on her skin, she put on Xu Yanfeng's shirt.
Xu Yanfeng was thoughtful; since the shirt was meant for her to wear as pajamas, he had chosen a soft, skin-friendly fabric, not a stiff one.
A faint woody scent lingered around her; Xia Xi sniffed, feeling as if she were being held in Xu Yanfeng's arms. She buttoned the shirt in front of the half-length mirror, looking at her reflection, and involuntarily curled her lips.
She took the hair dryer from the cabinet, first dried her close-fitting garments, threw them on, then dried her hair.
Her hair was long and abundant, drying it took considerable time; the buzzing sound filled her ears, and Xia Xi didn't hear someone knocking on the bedroom door.
Xu Yanfeng had showered and changed into a dark gray lounge outfit, he knocked twice on the door; there was no reply, but he could faintly hear the hair dryer's noise, he understood and stopped urging, leaning against the wall by the door and waiting quietly.
After a long while, the noise stopped; Xu Yanfeng knocked again, and this time Xia Xi heard him, shouting from inside, "Just a moment," she unplugged the dryer, wound the cord around its handle, and stored it back in the cabinet.
She used her fingers as a comb, casually smoothed her hair, opened the bathroom door, then opened the bedroom door.
Xu Yanfeng stood outside the door, holding a cup of steaming tea; a pungent ginger aroma drifted in the air—needless to ask, it was ginger tea. I don't know how much ginger he put in, but even a light sniff sent that ginger smell straight to the top of her head.
"The chef made it, drink up," he said concisely, deliberately avoiding looking at her.
The moment the door opened, his breath hitched for a beat; he hadn't expected that such a plain white shirt would look like this on her. Her just-dried hair was somewhat fluffy, she had swept it all to one side of her head, the two buttons at the collar were undone, and the two collarbones were faintly visible, more eye-catching than the silver thin chain she wore around her neck.
Xu Yanfeng had always been a gentleman; he averted his gaze after just one second, but the image lingered in his mind, refusing to fade for a long time.
Xia Xi glanced at the ginger tea in his hand, curled her lips: "How would the chef know I fell into the water?"
Knowing what she wanted to hear, Xu Yanfeng cut to the chase to avoid small talk: "I ordered it."
"Oh." Xia Xi kept the corners of her mouth turned up, drew out the syllable, reached out and took the cup of ginger tea—it was awful to the point of being unbearable, worse than traditional Chinese medicine—she stared at his profile, gulping it down sip by sip: "Xu Yanfeng, why won't you look at me straight on?"
Xu Yanfeng didn't answer, sidestepping the topic: "What about your wet clothes? I'll have them dried."
Xia Xi shuffled into the bathroom in her slippers, two fingers holding the straps of her dress, she came out and handed it to Xu Yanfeng: "Tell them to be careful, don't knock off the diamonds on it—I'm wearing it for the first time."
Xu Yanfeng took her dress and left; Xia Xi followed him behind, seeing him to the suite door, then she lowered her voice: "Come up quickly, I'm a little scared being alone here, and dressed like this it's not convenient to go downstairs."
Xu Yanfeng turned his back to her and said: "Why not call your roommate to keep you company?"
Xia Xi: "She finally came over for a visit, never mind."
The elevator doors opened, Xu Yanfeng stepped inside, his figure disappeared from view; Xia Xi turned back to the bedroom, curled up on the sofa, hugged the cup, frowned as she finished the remaining ginger tea, then went to the bathroom to rinse her mouth.
Thinking Xu Yanfeng wouldn't come back, when she heard footsteps, a hard-to-describe joy welled up in Xia Xi's heart; she turned her head, but suddenly everything went black before her eyes.
It was Xu Yanfeng who had brought her coat up, tossing it onto her head just like he had thrown the towel earlier; two words dropped from above her head: "Put it on."
Xia Xi struggled out of the coat in a fluster, her soft hair completely messed up, smeared all over her face—she could pass for a female ghost in a cosplay. She rolled her eyes at Xu Yanfeng: "I'm not wearing it, I'm not cold."
Like a spoiled child, she tossed the coat aside and flopped onto the sofa.
The shirt hung loose on her; with even a slight big movement, the collar would slip to one side, her fragrant shoulders were about to show, the hem wasn't secure either, as if it might slip off at any moment. Although Xu Yanfeng tried hard not to look at her, there were still a few moments when he inadvertently caught a glimpse.
He felt that staying here was not a wise decision.
He couldn't keep her company just because she said she was scared; her "fear" was mostly feigned, this scheming woman.
"Can you be alone?" Xu Yanfeng asked before leaving.
Xia Xi jolted, jumped up from the sofa, and declared firmly: "No way!"
Afraid he would just run off and leave her here—something Xu Yanfeng was certainly capable of, he was that ruthless toward her—in panic, Xia Xi grabbed his waist: "You're not allowed to leave."
Holding her like this in the pool, Xu Yanfeng didn't feel much, because his attention was diverted elsewhere; right now, however, he could hardly ignore it, the soft sensation was too vivid.
Xu Yanfeng felt a faint headache, closed his eyes, gripped her arm and pulled outward: "Let go."
"I won't."
"I'm not leaving."
"I don't... huh?"
Xia Xi lifted her head in his embrace to confirm: "You said you're not leaving?" Could it be she was hallucinating.
Xu Yanfeng grunted "uh," resignedly telling her to release her grip.
Xia Xi thought he might be tricking her—if she let go he'd run away. She shook her head, refusing to loosen her hold no matter what.
Such a good opportunity was rare; if missed, it wouldn't come again. Thus, Xia Xi, still in that somewhat ambiguous, slightly over-the-line pose, asked him: "How much longer will you keep me hanging, how much longer will you test me, before you finally agree to satisfy me?"
Xu Yanfeng, afraid of hurting her, stopped pulling her arm and let her hold his waist; although this made him very uncomfortable, his body gradually tensed and his voice changed: "Satisfy you what?"
"Being my boyfriend is what satisfies me." Xia Xi wasn't afraid to be more blunt; she only feared he'd avoid the topic again: "What exactly are you worried about? Do you doubt that my affection for you isn't enough?"
