Chapter 166: Your Kissing Skills Are So Bad

~8 min read 1,499 words

Xu Yanfeng's breath suddenly sank, hardly giving him space to think, she forcefully occupied his senses—touch, smell, and… taste, the orange flavor, fresh and sweet.

He always knew Xia Xi was courageous, acted on whim, rarely hesitant, yet he still misjudged—she dared to this extent, kissing him while he wasn't paying attention.

And he was nowhere near as strong-willed as he thought; he couldn't refuse her.

He wanted to push her away, but the instant his hand touched her it was as if controlled, he gripped her waist and pressed her against himself. After a few seconds of passivity, he regained initiative, deepening the kiss by instinct.

Xia Xi still couldn't help curling one corner of her mouth during the kiss; feeling Xu Yanfeng's advance, she acted like a hands-off manager, totally trusting and surrendering herself to him.

In the parking lot, vehicles came and went; the two beams of headlights swept over their faces, yet they seemed oblivious, passionately kissing as if nothing else mattered.

Xia Xi gradually couldn't hold up; her legs went limp first, then her arms lost strength, she could barely stay on his shoulder, the oxygen in her chest dwindling, relying only on nasal breathing, she couldn't catch her breath.

Xu Yanfeng released her just before she would suffocate, his eyes deep and dark like a midnight sea.

Xia Xi had only her palms resting on his shoulder, forehead against his chest, gulping air, calming her rapid breathing and racing heart.

Xu Yanfeng leaned his back against the car, both arms around her waist, applying just enough lift; otherwise she would slide down.

Another car passed, its blinding white lights shining on them; Xu Yanfeng tilted his head, squinting. His mind cleared, and he realized this wasn't a good place for kissing.

Who knows how many people saw them.

Xia Xi's tongue still tingled, but her condition had improved considerably; she slowly lifted her head, her fair face flushing peach, both arms reaching up to re-encircle his neck.

Xu Yanfeng said hoarsely, "Get in the car."

Xia Xi acted as if she hadn't heard, the corners of her eyes lifting, her crimson tongue tip touching her teeth as she made a soft "tsk": "Your kissing skills are so bad, you've never kissed anyone else."

Xu Yanfeng pressed his lips into a straight line, gazing at her darkly; just moments ago he didn't know who it was, his legs weak enough he could barely stand, his breath short, but now recovered, he began provoking her fearlessly.

He admitted he was indeed stimulated; with a turn, their positions swapped, Xia Xi pressed against the car, a gasp not yet escaped before her lips were seized.

He resolved to give her a taste of her own medicine, refusing to stop no matter how she sobbed and begged.

They kissed intermittently for ten to twenty minutes; Xia Xi regretted it, she shouldn't have indulged in a moment of verbal sparring, showing off on a man's dignity, one misstep and she'd messed up, the suffering hers alone. She frowned and whined protest, to no avail, so she tried to push him, but her strength failed, her soft push more like reluctant acceptance.

She was on the verge of tears, her nails digging into the back of his hand, only then did he finally relent and withdraw.

Xia Xi suddenly lost support, her body slowly sliding down the car as she squatted, she lifted her head to glare at him, her eyes misty like ripples on a lake; her stare lacked menace, instead it was alluring.

Xu Yanfeng braced his palms on the car roof, bent slightly to scoop her up; she leaned into his embrace, and he held her tightly.

Their lips were equally wet.

Xu Yanfeng's voice low, he answered her earlier question: "I have."

Xia Xi's mind was foggy; at first she didn't understand what he meant, but after a while her muddled thoughts began to work, recalling the taunt she'd thrown at him.

—Your kissing skills are so bad, you've never kissed anyone else.

—I have.

In an instant, Xia Xi detached from the flirtatious atmosphere, her mind crystal clear, eyes wide open, she stared incredulously at the person before her: "Who have you kissed?"

She had swallowed a huge vat of vinegar, acid rising in her stomach, every word she spoke tinged with strong sourness.

Before they were together, even if he had kissed others, it would be blameless; logically she shouldn't mind his past, but she couldn't, she couldn't convince herself to be magnanimous.

Xia Xi glared at Xu Yanfeng ever more fiercely, pinching his neck as she demanded: "Tell me, who exactly?! Fu Li said you've never dated anyone—could you have secretly dated someone he doesn't know? Or… or you kissed some girl but you weren't together?"

She spoke incoherently, making various suppositions, her mind a mess, like a tangle of yarn.

Xu Yanfeng didn't give a direct answer: "Do you mind that much?"

Xia Xi wanted to say she didn't mind, that the past stays in the past, but she couldn't utter such hypocrisy, so she dropped the pretense, her pout capable of holding an oil bottle, her tone sharp: "Is it wrong to mind? Who says people must be tolerant and magnanimous? I, too, have possessiveness—don't I? I like you, you're my boyfriend, I naturally want everything about you to belong to me!"

She felt conflicted: one part thought Xu Yanfeng hadn't deceived her, was willing to tell the truth, commendable; the other part thought it would be better to hide it so she wouldn't agonize over curiosity about who his first kiss was.

Xu Yanfeng took a punch; Xia Xi, furious, clenched her fist and struck his chest—not hard, but he was off‑guard, letting out a muffled grunt, his black‑and‑white eyes fixed unwaveringly on her angry expression.

Each word she had just spoken drilled into his heart.

She said she felt possessive toward him.

She said she wanted everything of his to belong to her.

Those born privileged dislike becoming another's accessory, yet at this moment he greatly enjoyed the label Xia Xi stuck on him—her name written on it, signifying he was hers.

"Speak up, why aren't you talking?" Xia Xi punched him again.

Xu Yanfeng wrapped his hand around her clenched fist, pressed it to his chest, and said: "It's you."

Xia Xi frowned: "What do you mean?"

Xu Yanfeng elaborated: "I said the person I've kissed is you."

Xia Xi froze for a second, then shouted: "Liar! This is my first kiss. When did you ever kiss me before? Xu Yanfeng, do you lie without even drafting?"

Xu Yanfeng fell into recollection.

In the library, she had fallen asleep face‑down on the desk; unable to restrain his longing and impulse, he furtively placed a kiss on the corner of her lips—only he knew, not even she.

Xu Yanfeng lowered his gaze, utterly sincere: "I didn't lie to you."

Xia Xi studied him a long while; his eyes and expression didn't look like lying, she turned her thoughts and offered another guess: "Could it be you had a spring dream?"

Xu Yanfeng: "……"

Indeed he had had a spring dream, the figure in it was her, and they did far more than just kiss.

The sky was pitch black; Xu Yanfeng escorted Xia Xi to the front of the girls' dormitory building, every passing girl glancing at them.

Turns out the seemingly aloof academic genius, when it comes to dating, is just like any ordinary guy—he walks his girlfriend back to the dorm, reluctantly holding her hand, chatting under a tree.

Usually at such times other couples would still be hugging and kissing; they had secretly watched for a long while, their legs sore from standing, and all they saw was Xu Yanfeng hugging Xia Xi—nothing more.

Before parting, Xia Xi already booked their next meeting: "Will you be free tomorrow?"

Xu Yanfeng's voice soft, like a breeze brushing her ear: "What's up?"

"What else can we do but go on a date? Today wasn't enough, I want more."

"Usually she's so busy, relying solely on weekends for solace, she must make every minute count."

"Maybe I have to go to the company tomorrow morning to handle some things; can I pick you up in the afternoon?" As long as she brings it up, Xu Yanfeng basically won't dampen her spirits, and even if he's short on time he'll try to squeeze some in.

Xia Xi's heart brimmed with something called happiness; she lifted her head in his arms, feigning innocence as she asked: "Won't I be too clingy, invading your private time and making you annoyed? Quick, say no!"

Xu Yanfeng let out a humored laugh at her words, then replied obediently, "No."

Xia Xi immediately felt justified, without a shred of guilt, she straightened her body, patted his chest: "Alright, I won't take up your time anymore, you should go back quickly. Remember our appointment tomorrow."
