Chapter 202: This woman is truly shameless

~8 min read 1,515 words

Tang Yizhou felt he still underestimated Xia Xi's scheming; that woman's tactics are really something—after only talking with Xu Yanfeng for a short while, she bewitched him into losing all reason, and he handed over all his assets.

Is the next step going to be handing over his life to her?

Neither good nor bad advice worked; Tang Yizhou saw Xu Yanfeng was dead set, so he simply tore up the contract.

Xu Yanfeng didn't even lift his eyelids, poured the opened red wine into a tall glass, gently swirled it twice, took a small sip, and said: "I have an electronic version; I'll just print two more copies."

Tang Yizhou wanted to grab him up from the chair, shake his shoulders hard, and shake the water out of his brain.

At that moment the doorbell rang; Tang Yizhou went to open the door, and it was Luojinnan and Fu Li who had arrived.

As soon as they entered, they sensed the atmosphere was off, exchanged glances, and Luojinnan spoke first: "What's going on? Did you two argue?"

"No way." Fu Li gave a light laugh, took off his coat and hung it on the coat rack, saying: "Xu Yanfeng is rational; he never argues with that idiot Tang Yizhou."

"Who are you calling an idiot?" Tang Yizhou, after trying to persuade for a while, was parched, poured himself a large glass of red wine, gulped it down like water, and said: "He doesn't have any reason—he's the idiot!"

Luojinnan: "What's happening?"

Tang Yizhou pointed at the steadfast Xu Yanfeng: "Luojinnan, Old Fu, I can't persuade him—you try."

He told them about Xu Yanfeng's plan to transfer all his shares to Xia Xi.

Luojinnan and Fu Li both fell silent for a moment.

"Do you think he's stupid?" Tang Yizhou knocked the back of his hand against his palm, "It's obvious he's been bewitched by that woman Xia Xi."

Luojinnan looked at Xu Yanfeng, incredulous: "Is what Tang Yizhou saying true?"

Before Xu Yanfeng could admit it, Tang Yizhou pointed at the fragments on the floor and said: "The contract was already printed—how could it be fake? I tore it up, and do you know what Xu Yanfeng said? He said he has an electronic version and just needs to print two more copies. Oh my god, I'm so angry I can't breathe."

Luojinnan also tried to persuade, unlike Tang Yizhou's heated words; he calmly listed the many drawbacks of this move for Xu Yanfeng, urging him to think clearly—spoiling a girlfriend isn't done this way.

Tang Yizhou: "Earlier you even called me asking what birthday gift to give your girlfriend—bags, jewelry, and such; if you think that's not enough, you could give her a car or a house, but giving her such a huge gift, aren't you afraid of overloading her?"

The table was full of delicious dishes, yet no one moved; Xu Yanfeng set down his glass, picked up his chopsticks, and began eating: "Have you said enough? If you have, let's eat."

Tang Yizhou deflated, kicked the silent Fu Li, and said: "Why aren't you saying a couple of words? I remember you're the type who stays silent until you speak, then it's a killer line—why are you mute today?"

Fu Li shook his head, unwilling to tolerate Tang Yizhou's indiscriminate attacks: "Xu Yanfeng isn't a three-year-old; he knows what he's doing. Besides, when has a decision he made ever been changed by a few words of advice from us?"

Tang Yizhou: "……"

Throughout the meal, the topic kept circling back to that contract, and Tang Yizhou left fuming.

In the elevator, Fu Li advised him to let it go: "It's not your shares, why are you so worked up? Or do you secretly have a crush on Xu Yanfeng?"

"Get lost, get lost, get lost, get lost." Tang Yizhou was annoyed, not in the mood to joke: "I'm like brothers with Xu Yanfeng; I don't want him to be deceived!"

"He's giving it willingly; no one is deceiving him." Fu Li said objectively, "I bet Xia Xi doesn't even know about this."

"Xia Xi?" Tang Yizhou seemed to have an epiphany, eyes lighting up; he realized he hadn't thought of approaching Xu Yanfeng through Xia Xi, grabbed Fu Li's neck in a threatening gesture, and said: "Do you have Xia Xi's contact info? Give it to me."

Fu Li narrowed his eyes warily: "What are you going to do?"

"Nothing much, just want to chat with her."

"I told you long ago not to meddle in other people's couples' affairs; if you misjudge the boundaries, it will affect your relationship with Xu Yanfeng..."

While Fu Li was lecturing, Tang Yizhou unbeknownst to him slipped his hand into Fu Li's coat pocket, pulled out the phone, went behind him, lit the screen. Tang Yizhou knew the lock screen password, quickly entered it, found WeChat and opened it.

Fu Li suddenly noticed his gaze kept drifting backward; by the time he turned around, it was too late—just as he uttered a curse, Tang Yizhou had already sent Xia Xi's WeChat card to his own phone.

"Don't worry, I'm not that unreliable." Tang Yizhou smiled, tossed the phone back to him, "Boundaries, right? I've got them."

Fu Li fumbled to catch it: "You'd better have them."

Tang Yizhou had drunk that night; the family driver came to pick him up, and he was still on the road, so he leaned against the car and took the opportunity to send a friend request to Xia Xi.

Xia Xi was buried in her drawings at the library; taking a sip of water, she glanced at her phone and saw a new friend request in WeChat, with the note reading "I am Tang Yizhou."

Tang Yizhou?

Xia Xi raised her eyebrows: "Isn't this Xu Yanfeng's childhood friend?"

She lightly tapped with her fingertip and accepted it.

The next second, Tang Yizhou's voice call came through; Xia Xi, choked by water, answered immediately—so direct? Could something have happened to Xu Yanfeng?

Xia Xi immediately gripped her phone, left the study room, walked all the way to the end of the hallway, and stood before a half-open window to answer.

A cool draft blew in, still cold; she had rushed out without a coat, wearing only a beige sweater, and she wrapped her arms around herself with her hands: "What do you need?"

Tang Yizhou was very direct, no small talk: "Do you know that Xu Yanfeng wants to transfer the shares he holds in the Xu Clan Group to you?"

"What shares?" Xia Xi was completely bewildered.

Tang Yizhou fished out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter from the car beside him, flipped open the lid with his thumb, held a cigarette to his mouth, tilted his head to light it, and had to start from the beginning: he said he went tonight to drink with Xu Yanfeng, saw a contract in his study stating that his shares were to be transferred to her.

"It's probably meant as a birthday gift for you." Tang Yizhou exhaled a puff of grayish smoke, his tone icy and intimidating: "You should weigh it yourself—that's not something you should take, you can't accept it."

Xia Xi curled the corner of her lips, a hint of sarcasm.

This person's tone is full of disdain, as if he has strong objections to her—not "as if," he actually does.

Tang Yizhou furrowed his brows: "Did you hear what I said?"

Facing the window, it was indeed cold; her hands were almost numb, she shifted a bit, leaning against the corner where the window meets the wall, looking down at her boots. She originally had no interest in any shares, but she's not a pushover; if spoken to nicely she can respond nicely, but with such fury from the other side, she felt embarrassed and reacted with defiance.

Xia Xi curled her lip into a smile, deliberately adopting an extremely arrogant tone to provoke the person on the phone: "My boyfriend's gift to me—why wouldn't I take it? I will. I will. I will."

"Make him furious."

"You!"

Tang Yizhou cursed under his breath, "This woman really has no shame—what does Xu Yanfeng see in her?!"

Xia Xi still wasn't disgusted enough, she spoke in a teasing tone: "Just now you said he wanted to give me how many shares? Five percent, right? How much annual dividend does five percent of the Xu Clan shares bring? Is it hundreds of millions?"

Tang Yizhou's eyes blazed: "Don't you—"

Before he could finish, Xia Xi hung up, smirking triumphantly. She could probably imagine Tang Yizhou on the other end jumping with rage, unable to do anything about her.

But does Xu Yanfeng have a screw loose? Why give her so many shares?

If it's a betrothal gift, she might consider accepting it; if it's for some other reason, like a birthday present, she genuinely thinks he's stupidly cute.

Xia Xi lowered her head and gave a soft laugh, then lifted her phone again to call Xu Yanfeng.
